We’ve been coming here every few years for 18 years or so and the same manager has been here all this time. We have 4 words for her — “It’s time to retire.” I’ll refrain from specifics. That said, this place has almost tripled in size since our first years. They now seem to use a 30 day max stay and it is pretty full. There is a younger maintenance fellow taking care of some things. The older section...

Adequate. Not being familiar with base we went to "B" side accidentally. We lucked out then with Gate 26A, definitely the closest to Famcamp. The layout of base is all cut up I imagine since they had to fence it after 9/11. Small BX and Commissary. Decent golf. Nice museum, but the Quantico Marine one is still our favorite. No reservations and no problem. Just gave CC over phone....

This place has the best explained "who can stay here and for how long" policy of any I've seen. And it seems to be enforced. The new addition makes their no reservation policy a bit easier to deal with. The older sections have shade and some have only 30 amp. They have good wifi and nice concrete sites. Laundry is very good, but bring your own quarters. No change available by...

Late June 2014

Although reservations are recommended elsewhere on this site, we had no trouble getting a spot for two nights in late June without them. All sites are gravel and fairly level with good utilities. Most are shaded. About 8 are pull through. We did notice one trailer that seemed to be set up permanently, but most folks seemed like us. It was a pleasant place. Not much on base but we did play the golf course...

We are starting our 4th week of our one month stay here. It is a very nice park, and previous reviews noting the cleanliness and site management are spot on. We have enjoyed the golf course on base where we got an outstanding monthly rate and the biking trails, nice and level, that go everywhere. The park provided a very nice Thanksgiving dinner (they provided meats and we the rest.), and the free cold water only laundry...

We tried for HOURS to reach someone by phone to see if there were openings as we drove down from the north on our way to Florida. Glad we persevered as there were several openings and the campground is pleasant. We easily got a satellite signal though I'm not sure all would, Verizon phone was good, and the most sites were adequate for even the largest rigs. Some of the previous reviews talked about homesteaders and there may...

This famcamp has few amenities but has exactly what a traveler needs -- good long, easy in and out, pull throughs and E/W/S/Cable for $15 a night. Friendly camphost, decent base golf course, and town not too far away made this a perfect stop for a few nights as we headed back north from the Valley. Airplane noise during the day was non-stop and shade is sparse, but the privacy fence and picnic tables...

This is one of our favorites. You can make a reservation, and the length of stay policy is fair and seems to be enforced. They have added several more F/H/U drive-through sites since we were here a year ago on the spots that had been reserved for tents. (They mostly sat empty) Internet is still an issue... Otherwise this place would get all perfect scores for us. Regarding the road situation, according to a...

We stayed here for a week over Labor Day weekend using our Golden Age Passport for $10 a night. Check in at "The Inn at Fort Drum." They will then give you a map to the campground. Although not in a particularly scenic part of the post, the sites are fine. Active duty families waiting on completion of some new post housing were in the other three sites while we were there. We particularly...

We were here a few times this summer for a few days each time. We were never able to get a full hook-up site. Seems there is a "catch 22" there. Only if the campground is "full" are folks kicked off after 30 days. Lots of little sites in the trees that never are used and therefore the place is never "full." It is a good place for Boston touring. ...

Nice area of Michigan -- major attractions around here are the rivers (canoeing a big enterprise in town) and golf. Two good golf courses very nearby. Lake Margrethe, about a block away from the campground, is very pleasant. Marina on post has non-motorized boats available for NO fee! Campground is very wooded and sites seemed crowded to us. We had some difficulty getting into our back-in site due to parked vehicles along the fairly...

This was a nice enough campground in a beautiful area. We enjoyed the base golf course the most -- mountains all around. The church being within walking distance was nice too. I made reservations via email I believe. Worked out okay. It is true that the "office" is less of one than at some places, but we think it worked well enough.

Yes, there is some noise. Yes, this park needs to be updated with WiFi. (Cinnabon has wifi ???) Yes, the roads are not the best, but they are fine for the one time in and out with the big rigs. Yes, watch for the fire ants. BUT it is a GREAT place to use as a home base to see San Antonio. Really easy to get downtown and everywhere else. They had a nice Christmas pot luck when we were...
