We just drove thru while in the area while staying at Pelican Roost. A beautiful campground with spotless care given to the buildings and grounds. Only drawback was the location so far out in the middle of nowhere. I imagine there is a mosquito or two in the area also. Some previous poster said there shouldn't be any playground as the campground is for retirees. I think if they read the regs, the campgrounds are for active duty personnel first, then others who qualify can use them on a Space A basis. Active duty personnel are young and tend to have kids. Kids need places to play and burn off all that energy. Maybe the complainers about kids can get lucky and camp near me when we have all the grandkids with use. Number 18 was born on 9/11. I have two small dogs and don't mind any breed if they are controlled and picked up after. I'd much rather have a big Rottweiler that's well behaved than a little yappie Poodle whose owner doesn't clean up after FiFi.
