Hard to beat at $14 a night with free laundry and wifi (use credit card to verify, but not charged). I do not consider this place "big rig friendly". I have a 44' 5th wheel. I also have a dually pickup. To me, big rig friendly is when I can have my coach and tow vehicle on the same spot. Here the pull thrus are at most 50'. Yes, my coach fit, but my truck had to be parked at the laundry/bath house. No, not a problem, but still not big rig friendly, IMO. Water pressure was fine. No flightline noise. The directions are slightly off. RV checkin is at the auto skills center at the corner of Jason and Birmingham. The gravel pullout is on Jason directly across the street from the auto skills center entrance. After you sign in and turn left on Birmingham, you stay on Birmingham, cross over Mustin , then turn right into the RV park. There is a blue sign at the park entrance on Birmingham. If you have a pull thru in the lower area, keep the laundry/bathhouse on your left as you drive to your spot. I really liked being able to reserve a spot. I wish NASKW offered this. Heck, would be nice if all military famcamps offered reservations.

What a great park! Just the right mix of shade and open areas. Helpful, friendly camp hosts. RECYCLING bins, which are hard to find these days. Clean shower/restrooms and, wait for it...FREE laundry. I mean, who does that? Nice deck to sit outside while your clothes wash and dry. You can walk to the harbor water as well as Mulligan's bar and restaurant at the golf course. The commissary, BX and gas station are all very close by. The only thing we would change is that our site and some others have a little slope. Be ware though, that despite what usps.com says about offering general delivery at the base post office, they DO NOT. We really enjoyed our stay here.

This was the very first RV Military park we stayed in. The amenities here are very few. Only half of the RV sites were paved. The other half of the RV sites, your RV sat in dirt. During the time we stayed for two months, every day it rained and part of RV pad was completely under water. The camp host and his wife were extremely nice and answered all our concerns. This RV park is in need of TLC. The base it self is so beautiful. The commissary was outstanding. They have a huge PX or NEX. It was brand new and had so much to offer. I miss all the good selections of great meats. The golf club is beautiful but the food is horrible and i mean horrible, the wait staff know there is a high issue and continue to serve bad food. I called the manager of the golf club to express my concerns on the wait staff and the food issue. He was aware there are issues but not to the full extent. Much improvement needs to be taken. You can stay here six months at a pop but we moved a month early so we could be closer to my work. Hopefully this place will make a great RV park someday. Never used the facilities, bathroom. The laundry room had no AC and made it uncomfortable to wash cloths in the extreme heat of summer. No cost to use the washer and dryers.

We have enjoyed staying at the Jacksonville RV Campground - having done so many times over the past 5 years of full-time RVing. We only stay from a few days to a week at one time. My husband is a DOD Retiree with the US Air Force, as his spouse I am a retired Realtor. JAX RV Park has always accepted us even though the Military Campground Directory said (at one time) "no DOD", now it states "Jacksonville DOD Retired". Just to clarify in our own minds; I called JAX MWR in late March and they very politely told me, "Yes, we do accept DOD Retirees from other branches - your husband is welcome to come stay". Then she asked me if I was also a DOD Retiree...I told her "no". She explained that the latest change of rules offer RV sites to DOD Retirees but if the spouse or significant other is not DOD Retired or Active Duty then they are NOT permitted. I laughed thinking she was kidding, but she assured me that - that is now the rule. She also said many of their regular RVers are very unhappy after being told that the only way they can stay is by leaving their "non-DOD Retiree Spouse or Significant Other" at the curb or at best; at home (if you have one). She agreed that it's a very unfair reg. We just wanted to alert our fellow RVers of this situation before they drive on base only to be rejected because your spouse is not allowed to stay with them. And if you want to get it changed spread the word and become a squeaky wheel.

Not a bad camp. Improvements made over the years. Homesteaders...ughhh Office says 45 day stay in 12 month period. Something like that. But every time we stop in there are the same campers in the same spots. One is in the "old" area. Back of laundry room. His 5th wheel has been in the same spot for YEARS ! He is not the host. Fam Camps are not housing. Or mobile home parks. Length of stay should be applied equally to all campers.

The campground is in a good location although it is a bit rundown. The upper sites are concrete pads, however they are not level, not even close. The first site we were in, the pad was actually lower than the road, and were there during a pretty good rain storm, making our site a swampy mess. The free Wi-Fi in the upper part was good where we were. We moved to the new lower section, gravel pad and mostly level but we couldn't get the Wi-Fi. There is no clubhouse, the women's bathrooms/showers were clean and plenty of hot water, then men's apparently had no hot water at least while we were there. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. As far as we could guess the sites to get are in the upper section in the back row, those looked good or in the lower section as close to the laundry/showers as possible to pick up the Wi-Fi.

Check-in was easy and the camp host met us at the park entrance and helped us set up in a pull thru in the lower section near the laundry. Site was gravel, not really level and short. We have a 40' coach with a tow dolly and the site barely fit the coach. Tow dolly had to be placed sideways and partially under the rig and the car was parked sideways. Utilities worked well. Laundry is free. Bath house was cleaned regularly. Biggest annoyance was an obvious squatter in one of the biggest back in sites across from us who used the road in front of the pull thrus like it was his backyard and tossed a football with his kids on the weekends very close to our motorhomes. He also allowed his dog to wander without a leash. He's been there so long that his 5th wheel is in the pics inside the handout the office gives you when you check in. It's also in a pic on the website. I'd love to know what arrangements need to be made in order to squat at a military RV Park and why exceptions like this are allowed.

Agree with below comments regarding homesteaders. When staying at JAX NAS RV park for two weeks last December,2011, we noticed a hand full of them (mostly active duty and DOD civilians) who were there from our visit in 2010! We learned from other campers that some of these homesteaders have been in the campground for Y E A R S ! Agree with below post, we also wonder how "they swing that being there are length of stay rules." One active duty Navy O6, with a class A, has been there for years. One DOD civilian we talked with freely told my wife and I that they had been there for years. He retired from DOD last winter and will continue to stay in the campground! Another active duty Navy officer (flyer - choppers) had also been there full timing for a few years! But, when you ask at the office you are given the "party line" about your length of stay. Retirees were told they could no longer stay beyond a certain date. The ones with valid medical reasons should be able to stay longer. But the three mentioned above had no valid medical reason. They were full time homesteaders. The RV park is not a mobile home park. MWR JAX: enforce the rules equally and fairly. Which you are not doing now. One of the campers, was a trouble maker ( threading people !). The office and director was made aware of his threats and behavior. But, they did nothing to remove him from the RV park. On his own, he went down to Key West. Good luck to those people down there putting up with this guy. Which brings us to another point: when campers are out of line in military RV parks REMOVE them. If warranted give them a warning. Otherwise, let’s keep out military RV parks safe. Laundry room: thanks to one retiree who made it his full time job to run off unauthorized users of the laundry room, the washers and dryers were freed up! Every time we stay at JAX NAS RV park, people who are NOT staying at the RV park or the marina, get into the laundry room and will do clothes before paying customers! Again, whoever that retiree was, we thank you for running them out of the laundry room and calling the base security when needed. MWR: you need to change the combo number to the laundry room and bath house often. You ESPECIALLY need to have a different number for the women's shower room and the men's shower room and the laundry room. You are asking for trouble by having the same number for males and females! Back to the retiree: he called, and kept on the office, to get the exterior lights fixed, dryer fixed, street light fixed, dryer vent cleaned out (was stopped up), had the steel spikes sticking up out of the ground hammered into the ground (present a safety hazard) and other things done. A host would do the same job if you would get one.

We arrived on a holiday and were able to enter base by showing only our ID. Our advice - if you are arriving on a holiday, be sure to call ahead for gate openings. The people you call at the Auto Skills Shop are very friendly and helpful but there is no host or anyone to show you to your site. Also, be sure you understand the afternoon traffic patterns since street in front becomes one-way in the p.m. and you'll need to enter by the Navy Lodge. Our site and patio are concrete and the 50 amp power is excellent. This is a great place to relax yet close to shopping and area activities. Watch your speed on base!

We got to this RV park 35 min late due to wrong/missing directions stated here. We came off hwy 10 and you need to go I-295 SOUTH! Not north as stated in the directions. I'll make it more clear and easy here: coming from hwy 10, take exit for I-295 south going toward Datona beach, the first exit you will see it 21 and the number will go down, take exit 10, after you exit the road take a left at the "Y" then it comes to a "T" go LEFT, enter the base at the second gate on the right called "Yorktown gate" if you have a class A, take far right lane, if you take left lane it's a VERY tight fit and you have 2 inches on each side. Then drive straight and take a right on Jason road, there's a sign for the auto hobby shop, follow that to the end and auto shop will be on the right for check-in, there's signs that clearly mark RV office. The RV park is ok here, kinda small and cramped though, our site was a pull through but its very short, we couldn't leave our car hooked up because it blocked the road but laundry was FREE and the base is very nice, a lot of stuff to see and do.

Overall not a bad RV park...... But, office says no staying beyond 45 days in a 12 month period. I may be wrong on the exact number of days. But do believe it is 45 in a 12 month period. Every time we have stopped in we see some of the same HOMESTEADERS. The camp ground has improved. The spaces in back of the bath house have been redone. No more muddy space at the end of the row. Laundry room combo needs to be changed on the door. Every time we have stayed here free loaders come into the laundry room and do laundry. These are not people from the marina (they are authorized to use the RV laundry room). These are others who seem to think they can do a free wash and dry anytime the want. You, the paying customer, will just have to wait in line behind them. Over sight of the people who work in the office and the camp ground proper is lacking.

Two hosts take weekly turns at the park but it seemed like they were always both available; they both helped back my big rig into its spot. "Tom" at MWR checkin is a great asset for the park! Also be sure to check out the romantic swingin' bench that overlooks the bay: it's just behind the screened gazebo. SPECIAL NOTE FOR FIREARMS OWNERS: you'll get directed into the visitor center where you'll sign paperwork then wait for a police escort to the Armory. Large rigs: do NOT turn right onto the dead end at the police station. Explain to your escort that you'll turn left and park on that road. Upon departure, low branches will demand you turn left on Mayport (behind the gas station), then right on Allegheny, then right on Birmingham and it's a straight shot to the MWR checkin on Jason street. Follow the same route to retrieve your weapon(s) when you're ready to leave the base. Large rigs: alert your police escort to secure the FIRST traffic cone at Allegheny & Yorktown else you'll crush it turning left.

Not a bad park at all.  Wifi was free and works great early and late in the day. You have to stream TV because of trees block the signal for Dish. Middle of the day it must get overloaded. Laundry (never crowed), heads and grounds and always clean. Staff was fantastic. It is a great place to home base and go see the sites. Not much to do at the Camp ground. Does have a few trails. We would stay here again. We were in a motorhome.

We have stayed at NAS JAX several times and it is one of our favorite military parks. Our site was plenty long for our 42’ fifth wheel and we had lots of room to park our truck. Great wi-fi was available. No cable but our satellite system worked perfectly. Lots of areas to ride your bike on base and a nice marina. The commissary is new and huge. Office staff are very friendly and helpful. Free laundry. Base is in a convenient location to many shops and restaurants. All this for $19 a night!

We stayed in the park in January, 2014 for two weeks. Park is kept in good condition. The check-in staff is very friendly and helpful. We have stayed here for the past several years and have always enjoyed the stay. Biggest problems are that the upper sites are far from level and Verizon 4G internet service is marginal. We were in the upgraded lower portion of the park and found it to be great. Several of those sites are pull-thru and closer to level. They are gravel, but in good shape. The base is convenient to our reason to be in Jacksonville.

Stayed here one night on the way back to North Carolina. Called the morning of the 29th and made a reservation for a site with no problems. We were assigned a site in the newer area. Site had full hookup, concrete level pad and a concrete patio. Everything worked just fine. We were on the way from Sigsbee in Key West, I had paid for a month of internet at Sigsbee and it just so happened that the same service is used by this FAMCAMP, so I was able to log on to WIFI with my codes from Sigsbee. The campground was well taken care of, grass cut and sites clean. I checked out the bathroom, (OH, I forgot to ask for the code and no one said anything about a code when I checked in) but another camper gave me the code and I was able to get in. The bathroom was clean and ALL fixtures worked properly, I checked them all since one of the last comments I had read was that 2 of 4 toilets were broke. Didn't get a chance to wander around base much but did notice they have a huge gas station with a number of work bays in it. The exchange was close by the campground as well as the Auto Hobby Shop, which is where you have to check in. Overall I think this is a very good FAMCAMP and will make it a stop in the future when I can spend a little more time here.

Base access is easy with options to three gates during normal working hours. Washer & dryers are free, grass areas need attention. I was on spot seven, with a WiFi pole right next to the site and WiFi didn’t work, kept interrupting and you’d have to log back in. Some sites have long term residence which looks unsightly. Camp host (frank) was very helpful when setting up.

We camped at the Manatee Point Campground while reconnoitering the Jacksonville area. Both sets of camp hosts were very friendly and extremely helpful throughout or stay. We paid $31 per night for a graveled 40" pull-through space. It was not in the shade, although most of the sites did have some. The amenities were excellent, including a very clean bath house, FREE laundry, decent WiFi, and a few FREE TV channels that could be accessed without a cable hookup (how did they do that?). The camp is right on the water and there is a screened off gazebo with electric fans that was quite comfy when the humidity wasn't too high. The best way to enter the base is at the Yorktown Gate, as the Birmingham Gate is open for limited hours only. Be aware that for security reasons the route through the gate is rather narrow with speed bumps, but we were able to maneuver our travel trailer through it fairly easily. The Exchange and Commissary are about 1.5 miles away between Saratoga or Birmingham Avenue, and other places to eat on base include Dewy's, Mulligan's, and McDonald's, all along Saratoga Avenue. There are lots of things to see and do in Jacksonville, but NAS JAX is located on the southwest side of town, so getting there might involve a 15 to 30 mile drive (30 miles to the beach). Also, there are many aggressive drivers in town, and we didn't go a day without seeing a car wreck somewhere - so stay on the qui vive. We would stay at Manatee Point Campground again if we happen to return to Jacksonville.

No changes here. Just as advertised. It's very busy at this time of year so call for reservation. After two weeks of trying we could not extend our stay for an extra week. The cell phone reception (Verizon) has improved here and we had good connections all the time we were there, even with our Verizon MiFi. FastEagle

R.L. left this review using the Directory software: - Staying here currently after being at Pelican Roost (Mayport) for 2 weeks. Big disappointment. No office or host onsite. Pads are not level. Normal general delivery mail at the post office works fine. Needed to order something from amazon.com. RV office told me to us MWR RV Park and my space number and UPS would deliver to my site. Wrong answer. I checked with the MWR Warehouse, base warehouse, commisary and finally the NEX warehouse where UPS actually delivered. I understand this could simply be a mistake on UPS part but my advice on packages is to find a local home address to have packages delivered to.
