We landed at Eglin in Dec 16,and didn't depart until the end of Feb 17. This was our first full-time winter stay, but not our first rodeo staying in an RV park. We've been RVing for 20+ years. Campground is nice with larger than average sites. No issues with electric, water, or sewer. Wish they'd spend some funds to pave the roads and add more FHU sites. The sound of freedom waking you up is welcomed by most veterans, but be aware your on an Air Force base and the campground is at the end of the runway. Shower house was clean with good water pressure. Maintenance on the shower house took longer than it should have. Handicapped shower head broke and it was not fixed 5-days later when we departed. Laundry rooms were in good repair with 4-each washers and dryers that cost $1.25/load. Staff was mostly friendly and they were always responsive to Facebook communication. This was very important because the phone system didn't work to contact the office the entire time we were there. So broke in fact, you couldn't even leave a message for the staff. This is a known problem MWR has failed to resolve. Contracted management also doesn't care for the campground as well as others we've stayed at that empowered camp hosts to be the local presence. There was trash littering the sites that persisted until a camper picked it up. I spent the entire stay policing cigarette butts left behind by previous occupants. The waterfront area is a work in progress. It's getting better every week thanks to efforts of CE workers. They've been cutting back grasses to allow access to Choctawatchee Bay. Walking and bike trails nearby are in need of repair. Cut trails were nice, but paved areas were in need of repair due to heaving and large cracks. I believe the price exceeds the value of what the campground offers. There were no planned activities, even during holidays, there is no central clubhouse or like venue in either campground, there is no WIFI throughout the campground (you can get WIFI if you go sit in or near the office), no fire pits or campfires allowed, and no cable option. This was simply a decent place to park with FHU available. I'd expect a park of this type to run $30/night or $375/month. One major drawback is no reservations allowed. This is a first come, first served park. It's even more troublesome because of all the homesteading folks due to lax stay policy. Folks are turning Eglin into a family housing area. Forcing a departure for 10-days is a ruse because residents call a buddy to pull in as they pull out, so they can swap back when the minimal time period has passed. We saw at least four different rigs due this to keep their spots. Issues related to the homesteading movement make it difficult to get a spot and folks seemed to keep to themselves more than you'd experience in parks with more turnover.

We were thankful to be able to get a camping spot at Robins when we arrived. The campground was full the whole time we were there, it appears that people have figured out how to work the system to save spots by placing a tent in the spot to hold it but never occupying the spot until they return. Also notice tents were being allowed to rent RV camping (concrete) spots. Many folks with RVs would come in looking for a spot and find numerous spots with pop-up tents with no occupancy that were being saved. All other Famcamps I believe require the RV with occupants to be there. Not sure if there is any priority system applied for Active Duty, Retired, or DOD Employees. Also, not sure how DOD contractors fall into this priority. Campground sites were larger than average sites and there were no issues with electric, water, or sewer. Wish they'd spend some funds to pave the roads, or fill the pot holes. Unfortunately I would not call this a clean campground. Pet owners are advised upon arrival to pick up their pet droppings, however we observed several folks ignoring this requirement. In addition, we noticed a lot of pet droppings while walking around the campground. The area around the trash dumpster was very trashy, to include box springs, pallets, bedding, etc., which were dumped outside the dumpster. These items were not picked up the whole time we were there. We did not see any staff checking the campground for rules being followed or any other issues like the dumpster, etc. It appeared that the campground was under staffed, and we didn’t notice any maintenance or cleanup being done. Finally it appears that people have figured how to stay in the campground for lengthy stays, more on a full time basis. This campground is conveniently located and has the potential to be a beautiful campground.

Nice experience. There are currently 10 active duty families living in the park (Camp Robbins) and there are plenty of kids out playing when school lets out. Honestly, we don't mind the kids. They remind us of our childhoods of playing outside. They are respectful and all stop when reveille plays at 5pm. The laundry was clean. 4 washers/4 dryers @ $1 a piece. A lot of plane noise but that doesn't bother us either. Extremely close to the water. Just a very short walk. Post'l Point is right on the water but it looks like a trailer park and is located right outside the abandon TLF. Reminds me of a ghost town. Short drive to Destin...about 25 minutes but then there you are on that beautiful water. No diesel sold on base. Hook ups were adequate. OTA reception was poor. ATT cell coverage and Directv, no problems. Our GPS took up on a road directly across from the commissary. A dirt road that is narrow and we lost our antenna from the how branches. DO NOT TAKE THIS ROAD! We found out the next morning that if you pass the commissary, there is a road to the right that will take you there much easier (Shambo Cove). Take the first or second right once on Shambo Cove. We came in the west gate.

We tent camped at Postl Point for a week. There are two tent only sites located next to the small inlet, just before exiting on Desoto Circle Road. I would recommend against tent camping on either of those two sites. Rent an RV site closer to the beach and camp there because the no-see-ums will eat you alive if you pitch a tent at one of the tent only sites. Otherwise, it is a great location being right on the beach. The only other problem was the RV that was parked on the last site before you exit Desoto Circle. The couple that resides there believe that one-way signs and speed limits do not apply to them. Additionally, their site (and several others) are messy and give the entire RV site the look of something out of Deliverance.

The rules have changed. Currently the rule is first come first serve but management is holding slots for Tindal AFB displaced persons. There is still a 180 day limit (paid month to month) with a 30 full days off and you can NOT return to the same site you left. They are holding some sites (between 4-8) to a 14 day 'reserved' plan but the sites seem to change daily. Reservations made through management by phone. Best to call management for current rules and occupation plan. I currently reside in this park.

Well we're back again after a couple of years. Stopped by for a couple of weeks to rest from traveling up north. Need some sit still and quiet time. Got it here, except for the morning and evening jets. Well, I still like this FamCamp! Plenty of sites to choose from. Great people, Full hookups (all of them). Very quite except for the sounds of freedom. Will certainly come here again. Laundry worked and was clean. Commissary and Exchange right down the road half mile. Dining out not too far to town. Had a real good time here.

Agree with the other recent reviews. Nice park. Folks in the office were great. I reserved for 4 days about a month ago and glad we did since there were no openings while we were there. Another MWR facility that has, in essence, transitioned to Family Housing.

I stayed at the Postal Point location for Easter weekend. This location is on a point looking at the bay and Destin Bridge, beautiful view. All the sites are pull through with 50 amp, water and cable; sewer is at the dump station on your way out. Camp Hosts were great people, I was a last minute arrival, the main office was closed for the weekend, but they took care of me, put us in a great site. Bath house was clean. Sites are being upgraded with fresh limestone gravel; raising them above flood level. All the other amenities are located at the main camp grounds. Rates are up - $35/ngt; $225/wk; $700/mo I'd stay here again.

Eglin AFB Famcamp (Camp Robbins) is laid out with wide gravel sites. All FHU utilities are solid with the exception of WIFI as there is none. OTA tv service was very disappointing for the area. They did take reservations for our 3 day stay but were mostly full while we were here. Talk is they are going to close Postal Point (other famcamp on base) as it keeps flooding during weather events and maybe extend Camp Robbins to the south. We would stay here again.

Postl Point famcamp- First of all, the views, being right on the water & adjacent to the Marina, are awesome. There is an area at both ends of park with dog poop bags & trash can. This could be a premier spot with some TLC. The campsites are not clearly marked & the couple close to the water have no clear parking area, requiring you to park on grass. In the rain, rv's will create deep ruts in the sandy grass. Water & electric hookups aren't always close together & there are 6 numbered sites with no utilities. Bathrooms appear to be original to the base (I'd never seen rust on a porcelain sink til now) & a taller person than me might find it difficult in the toilet stall with their legs tucked under their chin. There is no catv as it lists it as an amenity, no wifi, only two barbecues. & a random collection of a half dozen picnic tables at no particular campsite. The views may be enough to make up for the rundown condition of this famcamp though.

My husband says that he pulled me away from Camp Robbins kicking and screaming when we had to go home on business. We loved walking daily by the nearby bay and watching the pelicans and other birds, even dolphins one time. The staff were very, very helpful and caring. The site was large and clean. The whole park was attractive and quiet, and the other campers were friendly. I had a feeling of community. Wish I were there still. Next time.

R.N. left this review using the Directory software: Campsites were spacious and level. Some of the tree branches needed to be trimmed or rubbed against your rig. Very little grass area with sand burrs.

It has been interesting reading some of the previous comments. It seems some folks expect a full-blown private resort and if not, they're going to complain about the grass, about the noise, about the rules and about the sites. Actually, there should be two separate review sections because there are actually two parks. Rules are in place for a reason ... and, actually, it's to make the experience enjoyable for everyone. We are currently at Camp Robbins and have been here for several days. It's a great park with huge sites. Some are back-in and some are pull-thru. The managers (I think they are fairly new) are absolutely fantastic!! They are friendly, out-going and want to do almost anything to please. The park is almost right on the bay with trails leading from the campsites to the beach. Love the park .. love the convenience and love the management. Thank you for a good experience. Satellite is excellent, internet is excellent and we would definitely return if in the area.

Camp Robbins has uneven concrete pads, no WiFi, poor tasting water, and a LONG list of rules. We will not come back again. It is not user friendly, but the bathrooms were nice and clean. Getting around the base was difficult for a newbie. It was fun to hear and see the fighter jets fly overhead in the morning.

About 20 empty spots every day, unlike past years when park was full. Lots of negativity among campers about the staff except Darryl who was well liked. Seems to have been a lot of turnover in recent years. Close to BX and Commissary and not too far from the Gulf and Destin. When here in Nov/Dec 2009, was told that cable installation had been approved and financing was in place, but no cable and no talk of it anymore. Made a friend who stayed in February. She said FSS had a meeting with the campers. They were told, among other things, that MWR was requesting a monthly rate increase from $400 to $475, but didn't know if it would be approved.

We liked this small campground with electric and water. Looks like new electric was installed recently. The dump station is next to the bathhouse and isn’t exactly level but served the purpose. Our site allowed us to face towards the bay, so had great morning sunrise greet us. Site was very long pull through with plenty of grass around. Like this CG better than the larger famcamp nearer the Exchange & Commissary. However, if staying long term that would be the better option with full hook-ups. Easy access in and out of base from the Niceville end.

It is back to check-in at Camp Robbins for it and Postal Point rv camps. Hours are 8 to 3. Everything else seems to be the same. Nice bike/running path for quite a ways (from Camp Robbins). Nice Exchange and Commissary. Good choice in the food court. No diesel at the gas stations. West gate seems to be the best entrance.

This was the first time I've been to Eglin FamCamp where we spent a week, on Postl Point. I was a little hesitant after reading some other reviews and the "spartan, but clean restrooms", but I'm so glad I took the chance. This place was a gem! They've remodeled the restrooms and showers, new tile, fixtures and air conditioning, and they've also upgraded the electrical connections to 30 and 50 amp. Even over the weekend there were never more than 12 spots filled and two of those appeared to be preset rental units, I never saw anyone at those sites the entire week. We set up on site #101, right in front, looking out over the bay. True, this spot is a little distant from the BX/Commissary, but I'll take that for the solitude and beauty, plus, it's an easy walk to the small beach (if you want to swim in the bay). The equipment rental office is located right next to the beach and you could buy soft drinks, beer, ice and snacks right there. Fairly easy access to the East Gate shopette. I didn't know it until I'd arrived, but Eglin also has a beautiful private beach right on the Gulf, located on Okaloosa Island, $3 admission during the week, $5 on weekends. True, it was 20 miles from the campground, but then you're also right there with all the great restaurants. I will be going back and I highly recommend this little jewel.

An enjoyable short stay at Camp Robbins. The campground was only about half full (same at Postal Point). The Camp Robbins office hours have changed to 0900-1500, M-F, closed Sat and Sun. Don't know if that's just for the Summer season or a permanent cutback. Also, the FamCamp no longer offers a 10% discount for using a Services credit card. As others have noted, would be nice if cable TV was available. We were able to pull in 12 channels with the crank-up antenna, but reception was not consistent due to interference from fairly constant air traffic (same interference for the Wi-Fi caused repeated loss of signal). By the way, if you love the sound of freedom, you'll enjoy it to your heart's content with all the activity at Eglin, especially with the F-35's in the pattern. This is a very well kept campground with well-spaced spots and lots of room to maneuver (we camped in a 38' 5th wheel). The campground is very convenient to the BX/Commissary, as well as a great springboard location to attractions in Ft Walton Beach and Destin. If you camp here and haven't been to the Air Armament Museum, you don't want to miss the opportunity...it's just outside the East gate.
