Redstone Arsenal MWR RV Park in Huntsville Alabama is an awesome campground and has a perfect location to explore the local area. The daily rate is $25 a night and the weekly rate is $150. It is very well laid out and very quiet. It's very close to the Commissary and the Exchange. The bathhouse is well maintained and clean. The washroom facilities has four washers and four dryers, which are well maintained and very clean too. Our camp host were very friendly and helpful. We love this place and would stay here again. We definitely recommend Redstone Arsenal MWR RV Park to anyone wanting to explore Huntsville Alabama.

First off I have to say the Camp Host, Phil and Terri were very friendly. We were greeted and given our packet and shown where we were to be parked. Everything was great. One word of caution to campers is that you might need an electrical extension and maybe an extra water hose because for some reason the electrical boxes and water connection were installed too far forward. The concrete pads are great. The cable hasn't been connected but we were able to get around 20 channels over our antenna. The campground was full during our stay and was very quite. Gate 9 is the easiest gate to get in but all gates are large enough for RV's to clear. After clearing Gate 9, you get into the left lane and go about 3/4 of a mile then turn left on Homestead Rd. Then turn left onto Rideout and get into the right lane. Follow the signs to Goss Rd. We ride in a 43" Class A. This was not our first stop here nor will it be our last. So far this is the best Army Campground we have ever stayed at.

This is our first visit to Redstone Arsenal. I am writing this review while currently parked in the campground because we have had such a great experience here and wanted to share it! We came in at Gate 8 and had a very smooth entry, only needing to show an ID card, then traveled about 1/4 mile and saw a sign for the RV Park to the left onto Jupiter St. It took us right to the campground! The layout, signage, and sites are very well planned. Plenty of information and easy to get around. Very quiet, too. The WiFi is not very robust. Cable channels are satisfactory. There's a nice dog park; the dog run is overgrown and doesn't appear to have been used in some time. There's plenty of areas to walk the dog or ride a bike. We perused Redstone Arsenal and were amazed by everything happening here! We enjoyed Rocket Park and other space race static displays. We also learned about new space projects taking place here. NASA has a presence here. We saw NASA's International Space Station Payload Operations and Integration Center, the National Historic Landmark Redstone Test Stand, and more! A great experience.

Great campground. All sites are pull-through full hook-up. Big concrete pads and long sides. More than enough room for our 35' motorhome and out toad. Sites are level and utilities are an easy connection. There is no office on site. There is a campground host. Call ahead for a reservation, they will assign you a site and you just drive to it and park. Be sure and follow the directions on this site, and not the brown signs on the base, or you will end up pointed the wrong way. Bathhouse facilities are small but clean. Only on shower each. Nice well equipped laundry site. Plenty of nice place to walk your pet. Even a paved jogging trail through the forrest right near by. We had good reception of all the local major TV stations and good satellite reception. Verizon connected fine. Wifi signal is week but connectable. You have to get information about the WiFi up in the Laundry building. If you are coming to the area, or want an nice short term, this is a great place. Clean, safe, big sites. As we were arriving at Gate 9, they flagged us over to the far right and a wide width gate entrance. It was closed, but they opened it for us. Stayed here in our motorhome.

Close to commisary exchange and gas station. Very nice walking trails. Huge cement pads with pull thrus from spots 15 - 70. Spots 8 -14 were back in with hookups to far forward actually at my front door of motorhome. This is a realy nice campground and we would always go back. They need to get rid of the abandoned truck and travel trailer on spot 1 for camphost which has been there fora year. We never saw this guy. Two new camphost on spot 14 and 70 are working to make this one of the best campgrounds we have stayed at. No swingsets or playground for children.

This is a nice campground with very large RV sites. The RvVsites are the biggest we have ever had. They are slopped just a little. You are very close to the commissary, gas station and off the base there is everything under the sun that one would need. There is a mall right outside gate 9. Gate 9 is all messed up due to the new roads and you have to do a U Turn to get into the base. Gate 8 was so much easier to get into the base. There is a very nice laundry room. Never used the showers. That being said, there is a lot of DOD folks who taking up way too many of the RV spots who have been there for years. It is very hard for a retiree to get a spot with so many folks living full time at the campground. There are no trees and the heat during the month of Aug was extreme. We were told that too many people complained about their Satellite would not work because of the trees. I would of given anything for a little bit of shade. The other thing is the MWR office is like 5 miles from the campground and you must pay in full before you arrive. The daily rate starting in Sept will go up.

Never ever had to mow my site in a camp ground until here at redstone. Camp host on a big riding mower manicured his spot left the rest of us with waist high weeds. Used the old push mower left at the laundry entrance to mow. 600$ a month and you mow I just do t see this as a great deal.

Made a reservation for Feb.4-11.Arrived on Feb 4 as planned, 4 days into our stay the camp host finally put the check-in/checkout paper in the box, showing our arrival as Feb.3 and checkout on Feb.10. Called billeting to try and get this straightened out and was told "Well that's what we have written down, so that's what it is." So we payed in advance for 7 days and only were allowed to stay 6 because of what they had written down. Campground is primarily homesteaders. Currently construction work is being done to add more spaces to the campground so be prepared for noise. Laundry is nice. There is a change machine and a detergent/fabric softener machine, neither work. Very close to Xpress, commissary and PX. The nicest thing about this campground is the wide concrete pads. Definitely won't be coming back.

We have stayed here a few times as a halfway point going the New Orleans, Pensacola and Gulfport. Directions are spot on, sites are level and the dog park is always clean. Not a very loud campground and always clean. Very affordable too!

We were impressed with the friendliness of the Outdoor Rec staff who generally operate 7 days a week. These new facilities are a great value with seventh day free with payment for 6 days; campground is within easy walking distance of PX, Commissary, Post Chapel and other services. Free WIFI reception was great as well as cable TV, two services not found often at military campgrounds. Spacious, level, concrete pads with utilities optimally located made set-up a breeze.

Great campground! Most sites are pull-through, full hook-up with large concrete pads. The campground host was great and very helpful. This site has changed our focus, to use more Military Campgrounds when available. Good park for satellite reception. They have cable but we didn’t try it, so no comment. The Campground has everything you need, nothing you don’t. Close to the BX and Commissary, I would say within walking distance, if it wasn’t August and 100 degrees might be something I would do. Huntsville is a great little city, lots to do and this campground is the best in the local area. Definitely use Gate 9, and follow the directions provided. The Goss Road Intersection is currently under construction so look for the detour “cut-over” road or you’ll get to see a lot more of Redstone then you’ll want to.

Stayed here during the Huntsville Hamfest. It is located close to downtown and the Von Braun Center. Lots of eating places nearby. No office on site, but made reservation on the phone and just came and went as I wanted. They could use some trees to provide some shade again the Summer heat. Could not get a WIFI connection but no big deal for me. Very nice concrete pad for parking the RV and truck.

Stayed on site #4 for 5 nights.  Site was wide, long and level.  Water pressure was very good.  Access to the campground was easy and directions found here are accurate.  There is no cable for short term stays.  Facilities are clean and well maintained.  Enclosed dog run is a nice benefit particularly for dogs who like to explore off the leash but must use them at most campgrounds.  Camp host was friendly and helpful.  Never met or interacted with any of the MWR staff.  Commissary and Exchange are a short walk away and sufficiently stocked to meet your needs on the road.  Only negative observation is that there appears to be a lot of long term campers in the park.  Every day we witnessed some of them shuffling their rigs to new sites in the park when their 60 day stay limit was up.

We stopped over here for a much needed stocking up. This part of the country is not filled with Military camps. After we left Robins we stayed in GA State Parks then in the ACOE Campgrounds at Clemson SC Lake Hartwell and Lake Lanier in Gainesville GA, Lake Allatoona Cartersville GA, then Ragland Bottom at Center Lake TN. These places are great if you want a good place to stay cheap. If you have a NP Senior Pass the range from $7 - $12 per night. But only water and electric. Redstone has a great little base with a commissary & PX very close to the campground. The campground has sewer, water, electric & cable. A new laundry room with 4 w & 4 d, air conditioning. A new shower & restroom facility with is small but very nice and clean. There's the Space Camp that is very close to the Post that you can visit and Huntsville is a nice town. If you need to be in the area it's a good place to stay. If you're passing thru, it can't be much better. If you're coming from TN going south on HWY 231/431 you just keep on HWY 231 and it turns into Memorial Parkway which takes you straight to the Post.

Spent 45+ days on site due to proximity of work site. Entire stay was 1st class. Good access to everything! Great walking/running paths! Only thing I did not enjoy was having to move every 30 days due to some DOD Homesteading policy. Slight inconvenience, but the staff was superb and tried to make it as hassle free as possible. Wifi worked really well throughout the entire stay. Try and stay as close as possible to the laundry room as that is where the link is strongest. As others have indicated, landscaping e.g. trees would be a nice addition...although planted they take time to grow. BTW the washers and dryers are great, new and clean. This MWR activity is very well run and should provide you a comfortable stay. Best wishes and safe travels. Shorty sends...

This is a no-frills FamCamp which is fine. Military FamCamps are not resorts. I love the security of FamCamps. When we stay on base, we know that like-minded veterans are sharing our love to travel. We stopped and stayed for a few weeks to spend time with family. The facilities are adequate. The base needs to outsource a contract for new washers and dryers. Every time we've stopped, one or two, and three were out of service this year. They have expanded the park to more than 100 sites. The base has published the SOP and has posted it in the laundry room. The problem is they need to go by the rules. We are on site 27; there are five vehicles and an old trailer on the site next to ours. No one is on-site, and two vehicles are expired plates from Texas. Sites 1-45 are short-term visitors for 4 to 8 wks. 45-100 are primarily contractors. Most of the RVs have yet to see anyone coming or going. I have been told it is cheaper to put an RV on a site than store it in the storage lot adjacent to the campground. Is the FamCamp a storage lot or a FamCamp? Not sure why the military plays musical chairs with RVs. The husband called a month ago and asked for a particular site. That site has been empty since we arrived until today. The reservation system MWR is using needs to be updated. There must be a better way to put RVs on-site without packing up and moving every few weeks. We have a new camp host this year. Excellent, they are very proactive in keeping the facilities clean. This is the first year that the laundry area was clean. Overall Redstone FamCamp is a 4 out of 5 stars.

We were hoping to escape the cold weather and snow in Michigan, but we arrived to thirty degree temperatures and eight inches of snow. Just bad luck. The facility is very new. They have the largest concrete pads we have ever seen. Located near main post, but far from MWR, the place to pay for your camp site. All the post facilities are nearby. The fact that they have a new bathroom facility and laundry is very nice. There are very few trees for shade, but not important in winter. The MWR staff was very nice and helpful. I surely would stay again.

This is a great stopping place and the campground is wonderful.  One mishap, however:  we came in thru gate 9 just after 5:00 p.m. And only the left two gates were open.  They are barely wide enough to get thru with an 8 ft wide travel trailer, and the top of my trailer hit an overhead outdoor light about 9 ft high sticking way out into the lane.  I think the gate guard should step out and volunteer to open a right hand gate (wider) when they see a full size travel trailer approaching for entry.  Another camper told me it's a chronic problem and that another person had their awning torn off trying to enter the same gate.  I now have a nice long scratch in the gel coat of my new Keystone Cougar!  Otherwise, we'll be back but next time I will pull in front of the right most gate and wait for someone to open it.

Perfect for our use! Big, level concrete spaces with super easy access. We arrived 10:30 at night and found a late arrival was very easy and uncomplicated. All facilities were very clean and well kept, with the only exception being a few low-lifes who don't pick up after their dogs! We travel with 4 dogs, so not a hater, just don't appreciate others not picking up! Base facilities are very close and the gas station is big rig friendly too. Dog park is a nice addition to give our dogs a little running room! Very quiet and secure with base police driving through periodically.

We have a site in the newly opened area. The concrete pads are huge, plenty of room for our 43 foot motor home and tow car. Utilities are well placed and water pressure is high. Close to Commissary and PX. The new Gate 9 is very narrow so go slow as you enter.
