Having been full-timers for three years, I'd have to say that this campground is below average compared to most of the other DoD campgrounds we've been in. That said, it still is a darn good value for the area if you don't mind a few inconveniences. This park is not "Big Rig Friendly", "Rustic" is appropriate though. We barely wiggled our 40' 5th wheel trailer into the only open 50 amp site left. (Motorhomes would have an easier time getting into a site, or rather two sites back-to-back since none of them are pull through and none were built to accommodate 40 footers.) It's the only park we've been in where two sewer hoses weren't enough, and there is no central dump. (Some of the sewer hookups are okay.) There are very few 50 amp hookups and plan on most of them being "hogged" by the "permanent" residents in the park, which is okay. We've been here twice now and found the park to never be over 50% full. The PX is stocked to take care of soldiers in training and not us retired old poops -- lots of beer and beef jerky; but no tofu or quiche! Bring your tree trimming equipment with you and plan on ground-mounting your dish. Good place to sit down to explore Civil War battlefields and pretty close to Williamsburg.
