Be sure to visit this campground on a Tuesday or Wednesday when the Blue Angels are in town. Bleachers are set up alongside the runway which is a perfect viewing location for the Blue Angels practice sessions. Narrators give out lots of trivia while the Angels perform right in front of you. The pilots then appear in the Museum for autographs after the show. This is the best Museum I have ever been to. And get this----it is all "FREE". You only pay for the IMAX theater, if you go. The campground is very near the Museum. Most of the sites are shaded under huge oak trees. The facility appears somewhat run down and shabby in few places. I was very surprised to find that you still have to pay $7.95 per day if you want WiFi in the campground, but you can drive down to the NEX, which is a free WiFI hotspot. $22 per day, for retired military is a pretty steep price to pay just to park your RV, with very few amenities added. There are a number of public campgrounds in the area for about the same price. There are VERY few restaurants within a short drive from the campground. You may have to drive 10 miles from the base for any concentrations of restaurants. Walmart is within one mile of the entrance to the base.
