This campground is literally in the middle of nowhere and, I suspect, that's axactly the way they want it. Facilities on Base are more than adequate, tho, and it's only about 20 miles South on Hwy 65 to the closest & newest civilian shopping, banking or restaurants around Lincoln, CA. The Park apppears to have been built on the grounds of an old military housing area and the lay-out is in six circles with up to 8 back-in spots. We were happy with Site M-6 in the "Meadows" cul-de-sac with a 50A FHU @ only $14/day. Perched upon a bluff overlooking fields of wild grasses as far as the eye can see, the area is wonderful for riding a bike or walking the dog. I only wish I had brought a pet (specifically an aardvark) to combat the armies of ants that invaded our motorhome regularly. In desperation we raced to finish our Spring-cleaning, stripping the cupboards of anything worthy of attracting hungry insects. We learned that other neighbors suffered the same fate with resignation as the munching marchers made their way from the fields right smack-dab through our RV on their way to who-knows-where. Despite nature taking its toll on our peace of mind, we would not discourage braver souls from coming here - just come prepared! While you're here, don't miss the historical site of a WW-II POW camp on Base which once housed 1,000 German soldiers. Time having taken its toll, the only building still standing is a crumbling cell-block where up to 10 prisoners passed the time in solitary drawing on the walls.
