grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Military Base Storage Lots in the forums.I store my hauler and 5th wheel on post and the rates are great and the lot is fensed with a hard top surface, and who could ask for better than that, I would rather have it on post than at my home because today theves will monitor your home and when the RV is gone the house is empty and you come back to a robbed home, but on post everything looks normal except only 1 vehicle is missing and no one even in my neighborhood knows when we leave.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Military Camp Grounds pushing out tents in the forums.Tents are family recreation as well and the new tents they make now are like moble cabins, and with the stnad up AC units this has brought the tents to a new level of camping and therefore they should not be excluded from campgrounds.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Number of pets allowed in the forums. If the inside cats never go outside I feel they should not count, but the dogs are another issue, 2 dogs is enough in an RV, gosh, and due to the ones who don't pickup fater their dogs ruin for those who don't like the number of pets, so clean up after your dogs.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Vehicle Searches by MPs or Rental Guards. in the forums. The choice is simple, either I come on post and be subject to be searched or stay off post and not worry about it, but those should remember the posted sign at the entrance of all vehicles are subject to be searched at any time, aaaa because you are on Federal Government property.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: FamCamp Nazis in the forums.Anyone who works for anyone should have common courtesy and respect but some folks are give .5% of power and they add their own 99.5% of their own authority and the CG Mgr has no idea. But what fixes these problems is the ICE card or the IG, or email the National MWR.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Mil Campground Reservations...? in the forums. One main reason for that is look at all AF bases and they were smart AF bases are near great tourist or great vacation locations and then you will see why. The Army they put them in any H--- hole mud included, I know I did 22 years with them and have seen a many mudholes.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Vechicle Registration in the forums. The canceling of isuing Decals is a base to base issue and yes money is a issue, but you can request one anyway because some bases like Dam neck in Va Beach has a sign that says "No decal No Access". I still get one for all my vehicles.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: CIVILIANS ALLOWED TO OCCUPY RV PARKS! in the forums.I have heard of some bases which will allow a ID card person sponsor a civilian but not one that can come in on their own, the risks of liability on the Government is too great such as stealing, fighting, accidents, trips and falls etc.... and that is why a ID card holder can sponsor them only for those reasons.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: DD 2765 MWR campground usage? in the forums.Again if you are 100% you have MWR access and also check with a ID card section and ask for additional access, and also do an inquiry with a VA Representative but your knowledgeable person to see is the ID card section.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Military Installation Access in the forums. The main thing which will determine whether you will either need a pictured ID or the Whole nine yards is the sensitivity of the bases capability, ie weapons, secret stuff etc, some bases don't even require the military or civilians to even have a post decal but as for me, I want one to be on the safe side and have access wherever we go.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Sea Mist in Virginia Beach in the forums.Yes the old and the new area is open for stays, again you need a decal to get in "No decal No Access". there are no shuttles that I know of that takes you to VA Beach downtown. but you have a great beach there all to yourself.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Sea mist campground VA in the forums. After that Hurricane it was closed for reconstruction, they have built a new CG Area up the street from the old CG area and is on a hill for flooding purposes I assume, the access road is Asphalt and sites are concrete, new Club house and pavillion, the old CGarea was redone and is open again with very close access to the beach, they also have added some more sites all with FHUs and oncrete pads, this is a 5 star MCG and is a Super hidden jewel and if you don't enjoy your stay, then you need to sell your RV, and Butch is great he sponsor a cookout every Friday night and campfire. We love going there and the beach is mostly all to yourself. 1 thing you need is a post decal the Naval base is strict on that "No decal No Access".

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Kings Creek Campground Cheatem Annex Williamsburg in the forums. We stay near Cheateam Annex and the new CG is wonderful, except the check-in is 2 miles up the road, I recommend they take haldf of the Club house and use it as a temp check-in until they build a check-in facility. All sites are FHUs and with concrete pads 90% are very level 10% are sloping a bit, The cabins are new and on the backside of the CG sites and the access road is asphalt thru-out the CG. Access from I-64 to 199 is excellent but the 4 lanes go into 1 lane each way and is somwhat narrow for RVs and a sharp curve after you go under a spooky low bridge well it looked that way the AC is still there. Access at the gate is great no weaving in and out.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Where to stay in Homestead on the way to Key West in the forums.Great info, we had reservations at the Lion country safari KOA but for some reason they lost our reservation and they said they were full and would not let me dry camp and referred me to try a CG outside the park, all were full and it is getting dark, we just kept driving straight thru because I was pissed and missed the daytime drive to the Keys and yes as I think back on it I am now pissed again, but thanks for the Homestead info.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Truck stolen while at Pelican Roost in the forums.I thought the Patriot Act locked things down to restrict those without access IDs to come on post, but now some installations don't even require you to have a post decals and all you have to do is show a pictured ID and you are on the installation (bad idea), but I guess this guy has a nice looking truck and with discipline be slacken in the military maybe some young buck said lets go for it, but neither the less where you are it is best to lock your vehicle, I do and I don't think anyone is crazy to steal a large Volvo and try to joy ride, well anyway the security system I have won't let it start without the right stuff and a hidden camera records you inside the truck. but trust nowhere you go, these are the things you pay for to enjoy so don't take chances, I don't.

grayling drummond replied to the topic Re: Guns in your RV in the forums.Well to keep from having 4-5 MP cars with the lights on around your RV at the Inspection station now since the Patriot Act is in place, so it is best to inform the MP at the inspection station of what weapon you have and ensure you are complying with that states laws of concealed or unconcelaed view and loaded or unloaded and etc before going to the gate, and let the MPs know you are going to the MP station for securement during your stay, guidelines my be different from post to post but get these facts out front or you will be surrounded by Blue lights and everyone coming in the gate will remember you from then on, so eliminate the attention and be upfront about what weapon you have.
