The Manager Howard is worthless in many ways. Let me list them for you. 1. the price is 600 dollars a month, why? the place is not worth it when you can go 5 to 10 minutes down the road pay 436 and get more for less. 2. The restrooms are never cleaned unless you complain to the Support SQ commander and then it was done once with the promise to make sure it be done from now own. 3. long term camper are put in rocks while short term people are allowed to use the concert pads, please some explain that one to me other places do it the other way. 4. no internet, well ok let me explain it has crappy internet that the manager steals for himself when he wants that if you not close enough to the building you do not get a signal, while other places you get outstanding free wifi. 5. the manager use's a government vehicle to personal use and gain and nothing is done about it, and yes there are pics of it. the sad part it was a snow plow that HOWARD used while it was snowing outside to go to breakfast for 4 hours instead of cleaning the roads in the famcamp while there 6 inches of snow on the road. 6. If you piss off Howard or he does not like you, he stalks you harass you until you leave or he forces you out of the famcamp. 7. Steve, Howards boss will not do not anything at outdoor rec. to help you only try to bury you and agree with Howard and force you out the famcamp. 8. there is no HOST and Howard is never at work during the sad hours he does keep and he gets paid for this which should make you mad in the first place. 9. Howard loves to use a snow plow to move dirt around which in my eyes is abuse of government equipment. 10. In all honesty stay some place else do not stay there it not worth it. For the price they charge compare to other places and the way they treat you like crap and make you feel like you should feel like you be lucky to even stay their.

I stop over at Hill Fam Camp twice a year. I have always been accomodated. I like Howard and he or the Host have been responsive and fair making arrangements for my visits.
I stock up at the commissary, get my propane for the entire year, and refuel diesel as I push on North in the summer and South in the winter. Rick Wilson

Having read all of the reviews I felt like I needed to submit this review. I have been at the famcamp for 11 months. I too have had my difficulties with the management, and had a meeting with upper management to address a lot of the issues that have been posted over the past few years. It is my opinion that the issues have been addressed and from this date forward you shouldn’t have any more problems. I feel very optimistic that your experience here will be a great one. Management now reviews these comments and values your opinions. Have fun, and stop by and say hi.

D.D. left this review using the Directory software: - We have been coming here for several years and we find this camp ground to be one of our top choices in the military. Howard has been here several years and is an excellent camp host. The bathrooms and Laundry room has recently been upgraded and they are simply "Outstanding". They keep them very clean as well. The base has some nice walking paths which are right next to the camp. There is overflow and if you get put in overflow, Howard tries his best to fit you in the next available spot.
31 August - 3 Sept. 2012
When I emailed for a reservation Howard responded within five minutes All we could get was an elect site in overflow. When we arrived we were pleased to find out that a pull thru full-hookup had become available and he gave it to us. Howard is one of the most congenial park managers we have ever met. He has pastries, coffee and juice in the office everyday for the famcampers - free. We haven't used the restrooms and showers, but from the look of the park I can imagine that they are in good shape and clean. We would certainly stay here again and for a longer time, but right now we're anxious to get home to Oregon.

The base needs to replace the manager. We could not contact by phone. Used email and got a reservation. Emailed in the am (knowing that he did not work very long hours) that we would arrive during lunch and please let us know our site in advance. No response. No note on locked famcamp office. Cannot believe a manager only works 0800 to 1000 then 1300 to ?. This place needs to join the real world.

Our family stayed for 2 nights in conjunction with the Base Annual Camp out. The FamCamp Manager Howard and the Camp Hosts David & Sally were Awesome!

Only one big complaint regarding our stay. The baths/laundry room are being rebuilt. We don't use them anyway. However, when the site next to ours was vacated, campers (6 so far) started using it as the dump station which has no problems according to the camp host. The dump station is on a curve and the camp host thought that it may be dangerous, but the speed limit is 10 mph and if a dumping rig blocks the road it only takes a few minutes or you can take another road. Told the host that the site needed to be sanitized before renting it again and he did. We saw lots of water on the pad of what kind who knows and black water tank blasters were connected to the site's faucet which has a splitter which was for our site. Saw one person touch the faucet outlet with their sewer hose. One always needs to sanitize their faucet; who knows what the previous occupant(s) did. There are some RVers who don't know sanitary practices or don't care about the next camper. With the remodel of the bathrooms, a new, better located dump station should be installed.

We read the previous reviews & were a little leery about staying here, but we were pleasantly surprised. As we pulled in to the park David & Sally met us at the registration office, which was closed. They couldn't have made the check-in process any easier! They showed us to our site and filled us in on where the services were located that we needed. We were in site #21, a nice level concrete pad with a beautiful view of the mountains & Great Salt Lake. We especially enjoyed the enclosed dog park at the FamCamp and an additional park a short distance away in base housing. The laundry room/bathroom building is being renovated. This park and staff exceeded our expectations. The area has a lot to offer & we will definitely plan to spend more time at this park next time we're through here. We stayed in a 31' fifth wheel.

We stayed here 10 days in our Motorhome. Be certain to use the Roy Gate to enter. You can exit by most any gate. Your best bet for reservations is email Howard in advance. Howard was very responsive. We made certain to arrive when he was on duty so no issues there. The on-site host in the 1st unit as you enter, seemed to be very helpful when Howard was off duty. The showers and laundry are undergoing major renovation at this time so there are unusable. There are nice concrete pads along the west edge that are newer and seem to be primarily for transients. The Famcamp is convenient to shopping on-base as well as off-base. There are many attractions within an hour. The Golden Spike NHS was very interesting, Ogden's Union Station with 3 separate museums, the Temple in Salt Lake as well as the Saturday Farmers Market. There is probably a lot more, but we'll save that for next time. Utah is wonderful and we'll be back.

I don't see how you can make a reservation with a campground that employs a manager 4 days a week and 4 hours a day. The laundry, showers and toilets are replaced with ports potties while a complete overhaul is being made. Seems to be several long termers there. IF you get in half of the campground is VERY adequate but just a parking lot.

R.S. left this review using the Directory software: - Nice camp. Manager was easy to make a reservation with and deal with. Camp sites are plenty big for slides, but not gigantic. Facilities are neat and tidy, but well worn. Renovation/upgrade is scheduled for July 2012 time frame. Commissary and BX are handy and within 6 blocks.
April 5 thru April 12, 2012
I have read the previous comments and was concerned about using this facility. However, as I expected the service was excellent and good communication is the key. We did have some difficulty contacting Howard by phone. The communications via email was excellent and prompt. We encountered some snow and had our departure time delayed prior to arrival in Hill AFB. We contacted Howard and he stayed and guided us into our sites after normal working hours. The next day we met with him and completed the proper paper work. This one man show was very professional and cordial. This FAMCAMP is Big Rig friendly. The facilities were great and the BX, Commissary, Gas Station (DIESEL), Church, exercise facilities were very close and convenient. The hours of operation were no problem, as long as you read those ahead of time and know of the limitations. Another camp host will be coming soon and should allow for more flexibility. We were placed on the concrete sites and had good hook-ups. We would visit this facility again.
August 10 & 11, 2011
We rolled in at 1030 hours. Big mistake. The host office is closed between 1000 and 1300. You are not to choose an open site and move in. We asked around and found the assistant. I mentioned the instructions that said the available slots were posted on the office outside wall. He said, "Come back after 1300". So, we came back at 1245. The host showed up promptly at 1300. He seemed perturbed we didn't have reservations. I mentioned most FamCamps I had used didn't allow them except for PCS personnel. He gave a curt remark that "We've been doing it like this for 12 years!" I knew enough from his manner to just let the remark pass and not cause any trouble. We did get a spot and he did give good info on the base. The washers and dryers are first rate and the showers are nice. Great location for base facilities.
August 21st 2011
Very mediocre CG run on a shoestring with only temporary management. Management is not particularly friendly or helpful either with making reservations or during check in. To say there are extended stays is an understatement. Some folks have multiple vehicles, four wheelers, and a host of junk under and around their 5th Wheel. There are no rules and pet owners do whatever they want to include leaving their parking dogs leashed to picnic tables all day long - inhumane. Others were outside caged in 90 degree heat. I would not stay here again until they get serious in managing the CG and enforcing a modicum of rules.
29 June -14 July, 2011
We travel with our friends so always try to book two full hookup sites. The real camphost, Howard sent us an email and said that all he had was overflow (electric and water only). We arrived and was assigned to the overflow. Did not see Howard again until the next week when he told us we could have full hookups. We both decided that the overflow was better than some of the full hookup sites so decided to stay in overflow. (Actually the only down side to this famcamp is the full hook up sites in the old part of the Famcamp - they range from really good to OMG bad) If you get a full hook up site ask for concrete pads or you will not like it). Never saw Howard again as he went on emergency leave but Deputy Don was always available, friendly, and knows the area very well. Deputy Don told us about a local repair facility for our generator and also one of the best steak houses in Utah (Prarie Schooner). He was always on duty and made sure every RV that came into the famcamp was personally met by him regardless of the hour. Deputy Don made this stay GREAT! We will come back if only to visit with him.
Hill AFB is an outstandy base and we agree with all the other comments, they are doing something right by the airmen stationed at Hill. We were so pleased with everyone we met, at the top of the list is the golf course --- is one of the best in the Air Force (for sure the best maintained) and we have played some of the best including the Air Force Academy; Hill does not take a back seat to any of them.
27/28 July 2011
For Cleanliness I would give it a 5; however, for hospitality, a 1 is fair rating. The "service" reminds me of those "do it yourself" parking lots sans attendant. Check in and check out are completely on your own. We arrived after 2200 and after hearing nothing back from whats-his-name neither by email and certainly not by phone!, we did a drive through, picked an appropriate spot, and hunkered down for the evening. Departure the next day was the same - in fact, there was an "Open" sign hanging from the tightly-locked-and-no-answer-when-I-knocked door! Man, how do I get this guy's job!?!! If you're self-sufficient like we are, this is fine, as long as there are no disproportionate responses for you making such command decisions. If you think you need a little help, don't even bother. The base itself was awesome - we enjoyed the gym, the kids loved the sprinkler park. PX, Commissary, 24-hr gas station, the museum...this base provides all creature comforts. And as active duty Navy, I can never quite get over the awesome Air Force facilities we keep running across! Finally, because we never heard from him, I'm not sure if we're paid up or not...but he had a credit card to hold it, so I'm guessing he ran and charged it...who can say, really?
July 21 2011
We waited to the last minute to call and couldn't get anyone on the phone, left message with our number but no one returned our call. The answering machine recommended sending e mail so that morning as we headed out we sent e mail requesting a site and again giving my number. I figured when they called I could ask to be close to bath house since we have a small RV and prefer taking shower in bath house. We also tried to call again but no luck. When we arrived, after hours, we went to office to self check in. They had a good system and there was a Johnson on the list plus other open sites. To make sure the Johnson was us I checked my e mail and sure enough they sent me an e mail with the site number. Bad part, it was on the opposite side from the bath house. PPP on my part doesn't make it anyone else's problem. There was a camp host, he was real nice but I didn't want to bother him about another site for one night. Another RV arrived and he also was unable to get anyone on the phone but camp host took care of him. Everything was close, Gym, BX, Commissary, post office, club. And there was a nice small water park for the kids too. I'm ret. Army so I say anything in 2 mi is close and in walking distance.

R.L. left this review using the Directory software: The Best! We'd e-mailed for reservations and were told even overflow with electric was full. We replied we'd take dry camping overflow until something opened up. On arrival (the directions in are excellent) the office was closed. Deputy Don, the host came up immediately on his golf cart and said he could give us 2 nights in an empty spot. As it turned out he found we did have a spot reserved for 4 nights. The next day I went to see Howard, the manager to see if we could extend a day. He was very pleasant and we were able to do that. Don is around the camp often and keeps on top of things. During our stay several spaces remained empty and a lot of others seem to be used as storage. The surroundings are beautiful, it's a good base for sightseeing in the area.

G.M. left this review using the Directory software: We recently stayed at this fam camp. Having been at several military campgrounds we were quite disappointed with the appearance and lack of motivation by the manager. There were weeds all over the sites and stickers everywhere. This could be a nice park with some motivation. Too many full time rv's staying in the park. For as nice and big a base as Hill is this park was a disappointment. We had a hard time trying to make a reservation as the manager does not return calls and is very slow to answer emails. But other reviewers have also mentioned this and nothing is done apparently. Would not stay here again. We camped in a Motorhome.
