Hidden in the picturesque fishing village of Prospect Harbor, Maine is one of the Navy's premier MWR assets. A guest house, known as Gull Cottage, and its associated lighthouse are historical landmarks of unparalleled quality. The residence, constructed in 1891, had been abandoned for many years although the lighthouse was still operational. It was renovated in 1969 for exclusive use as a Navy recreational asset and christened Gull Cottage. There's NO Camping or RV Sites.

The review from 4 1/2 years ago still applies - very much so! Gull Cottage Is Incredible! My husband and I were very fortunate (and appreciative) to stay there 3 times over the past 10 years (the last time being 8 years ago), and last week my friend and I stayed there. Gull Cottage is beautiful, peaceful, immaculate, and magical and is Not To Be Missed if you have the good fortune to have reservations and visit Maine's Best Destination. You can tell that the people associated with and taking care of Gull Cottage have a sincere appreciation and love for it. Gull Cottage was updated last Fall, and it's even better than I remembered. I'm sure you'll agree. Oct 01-03 200841 of 41 people found the following review helpful
The write-up for Gull Cottage states: "...one of the Navy's premier MWR assets" and that could be an understatement. This might be THE premier asset. FULLY furnished!!! Full stove and refrigerator. (No dishwasher, though OH, NO!!). Bring shampoo and hand soap - this isn't a motel. Previous occupants have provided spices. You provide perishables. Washer and dryer in basement. We LOVED our stay!!! Even on rainy days, it's BEAUTIFUL!!! Your own "gated Community" guarded by the Navy's best. The cottage is cared for by people who care!!!!! |
