Staff and camp host do an excellent job, The internet has been expanded and and now can be used at every site. Verizon 4G cell service works and all the others too include AT & T are to far from a town or the interstate. Direct TV can be best used at sites 1 -10 and 11 -20 takes a some time to find holes in the trees. Dish is a lot harder but site 19 is using Dish at this time.

The only issue we had was the lack of Internet access that is advertised and cell services is not good either. Golf course offers a monthly membership so you can play Fort Stewart and Hunter for one good price. Very nice and accommodating staff and host. We'll be back.

This campsite is my mainstay when I want to make a long weekend out of Savannah, and this time I came over the Thanksgiving holiday for off-season touring. Drivers, please note: the reason *why* mile markers on the main road go up & down is because it restarts at a county line. The turn is exactly AT mile marker 13: if you overshoot it like I did, you can mosey down to the first street light where you'll find a safe turnaround on the right, even for a big rig like mine. Our smiling camp host dropped by with the wi-fi password but it simply can't reach out to the far ends of the campsite; worse, 3G cellular access is minimal. (But I don't come here just to compute!)

Little out of the way BUT nice. We stoped here on the way N. last March. Nice post & PX. For a stop over it's hard to beat. THE only thing that really needs to be added is WiFi something that would cost very little and mean so much. Thank you for a nice 3 day lay over.

Very secluded camp ground. Cathy was very friendly and informative about Fort Stewart and the new "4th Brigade" facilities. The bathhouse was very clean and the laundry facility was spacious and free!!! The only drawbacks were no sewage hookups and the mosquitoes could air lift you out of the campsite in a heart beat!!! Plenty of bike trails to ride and the alligators in the pond were fun to watch in the morning. 4th BDE's fitness center was AWESOME! Brand new to include a climbing wall and swimming pool. Savannah was a long drive to get to BUT well worth spending all day there. Allot to see in a relaxed atmosphere. Even though we enjoyed our stay here, we may try Fort Hunter Army Airfield the next time we visit since it is closer to Savannah.

This morning we began our next "Adventure" as full-timers by lovingly waving good-bye to our 4 year tour as Camp Hosts at Ft. Stewart, GA's Holbrook Pond Campground. Except for a 1 yr. off in 2008-2009, we have been winter Camp Hosts at Holbrook Pond since Oct. 2007. We have so enjoyed serving you, our fellow Retirees and Active Duty, and hope we made your stay at Holbrook Pond a great experience. We are leaving to do more traveling of this great country of ours (no matter what the gas prices are... ) and to just be RVers.... We are proud of the changes, no matter how small, we helped to bring about. More are to come, but as we all know, the wheels of progress move slowly....Cathy, the Facility Manager, works hard, too, to provide the best camping experience as possible. She is currently under-staffed, so please be patient when calling for info or reservations. Thank you, all, who have visited during our tenure as Camp Hosts for your comments. Good or Bad, we always strive to improve and to serve. Dock & Lori

Very nice and quiet CG. Would be a 5 if it had sewer hookup. The check in lady was very nice and the host was diligent. Would definitely go back if in the area.

I'm not a number rater, either I like a campground or I don"t. Well, I like this famcamp! Very quite and peaceful (except for the sounds of freedom). Great people, Host Doc & Lori are the best. Had water & electric hookup, gray water is allowed on ground. Shopping & dining out 7 miles away. Will certainly come here again.

I hate to give the location a "2" but that's because it's a ways to anything either on post or to Savannah. Downtown Savannah is about a 40 minute drive. The PX is about 7 miles. Amenities was given a "2" because of no services near the campground. Now for the good. Very clean, well shaded, quiet campground. If a person is looking for a quiet place to sit in the trees and relax then this is a great spot.

Very spacious. Write up touts 20 miles from Savannah, however, actual mileage is almost 30 miles. Post has nice PX, commissary, and fitness center with indoor pool for lap swimming. Lots of paths for hiking. Only draw back is no sewers, however, you can drain gray water onto the ground. Price is right and no homesteaders.

This campground is great and getting better, there are improvements to the park ongoing so far not many at the campground itself but it is nice to see some effort going into the facilities around it. Nice, quiet and well laid out this campground is one of our favorites we just wish they had sewer hookups. Doc and Lori do a fantastic job!

My wife and I are on a month long trip away from the Michigan snow and cold. We tried to get a camp site at Ft Stewart as I was stationed here about 17 years ago. I was told that there were no empty sites available but when we drove through on the 27 of January we counted six sites empty. It appears that Ft Stewart is holding for friends and relatives. We seen the camp host but no one else moving around the campground. The Post itself is completely fenced off from the campground. It almost looks like the campground has been given over to the local population. I was very disappointed in this campground. I will not return to Fort Stewart.

R.K. left this review using the Directory software: Visited this campground at the end if October, 2010. Great experience!!! We had called ahead prior to our arrival, and the check in procedure was conducted by a very friendly and courteous receptionist. Once we left the office, we were greeted by the camp hosts as we drove into the campground. We never even had to get out of the RV - the hosts met us with a very nice, detailed briefing covering our parking spot, local area, directions, facilities, etc.-all before we were parked!!! There was no problem parking our 36 ft 5th wheel in the nicely wooded camping area. That was not the last that we saw of our camp hosts, Doc and Lori Sloan. They really are a great asset to the staff at Holbrook - very knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and extremely helpful since we had never been in this area before. They take their job very seriously, and are without a doubt, two of the finest camp hosts that we have found in our travels!! The campground is a little ways off the main interstate, but close to the main base - and it is very quiet with lots of trees. A very nice place to stay!!!

Absolutely the worst military campground in the system. The campground is located 15 miles from I-95 and is open to civilians, many of which bring dilapidated campers during the hunting season. Hunters stay up late at night playing loud music and shooting firearms in the campground. There is no security whatsoever. The bathouse is filthy and has no heat in winter. If you have children or pets keep them away from the pond which is infested with alligators, some as large as 12 feet.

This was not our only stay at Holbrook we have had about 12+ during our 3 years of being stationed here. Of course that was between deployments so you know we love to camp. We also enjoy Fort Stewarts Fam Camp. The reason we rated a 2 for one of our ratings was not due to the hospitality but the cleanliness. Our bathrooms were in disarray throughout the entire stay except for one night that the employee was camping in the campground. However, the overall rating of the campground when it has a camp host is much higher. There were rumors floating around the campground about the staff and the camp host getting into a bit of an argument leading to their dismissal. We were there over two weeks and were told that a camp host was coming to the camp soon. Hopefully they do get one. As for us we are PCS'ing and will miss you guys. We are headed to Fort Bragg and know they do not have locked 24 hour storage and we will miss that as well. There sites are not as nice unless you get one on top of the hill. Have a great summer, Randy, Nicole, and Golith

Our first time visiting here, but it won't be the last. Although the office was closed, the hosts, Dock and Lori, were very helpful and friendly. Although a small campground, there were various activities planned. We wished we had time to stay longer, as they had a Savannah Food Tour coming up we would loved to have gone on. Since we are Internet junkies, our only complaint is the lack of any Internet services. With the many trees, our satellite Internet wouldn't work. We did get satellite TV, although we didn't expect to. Fair priced campground in a quiet setting.

Our stay at Holbrook was a very pleasant experiance for our first stay there. The check in personnel were very friendly and helpful as well as the camp host, Dock and Lori. The facilities were adequate and clean. Even though we did not use the laundry room, it was clean and seemed to be very adequate. We will definitely use the famcamp again if we are traveling through the area. It is great value and would be close to Savannah for any one to tour that area if wanted.

We have stayed at Holbrook many times in the past and have always had a pleasurable experience. This past time, for a week in late November, was no exception. The MWR staff members at the registration office are always friendly and very helpful. We have never had a problem registering or making reservations. This past stay was made exceptional by the camp hosts, Dock and Lori. It is obvious they take their duties seriously as they perform them meticulously and with pride. Instances are spotless shower facilities, organized functions, assistance with various RV maintenance troubles and even a clean pad swept clear of debris before your arrival. These camp hosts are keepers. Our only criticisms are the lack of sewage facilities and a non-DOD civilian access policy. Although the gray water can be discharged on the ground, the black water must be dumped at the convenient dump station. We have been told by the MWR Director, however, they are planning to upgrade the sites with sewage hookups in the future. Not sure when that will be, though. The other criticism is the policy allowing non-DOD civilians access to the campground. Hunting season seems to be the worst time for many local and out-of-state hunters set up camp and are up to all hours of the night and early morning. Other problems have been noticed with short stay non-DOD civilians. All-in-all, Holbrook is a wonderful place to spend one night or several weeks. Previous posts have explained its value. We will definitely return to this serene and friendly retreat.
