First of all we have not visited a huge number of military campgrounds, but this is by far the first on our list. Everything is top notch from the ladies at the office, the ladies that take care of the bathrooms/laundry, the guys that take care of the grounds, and the best camp host we have met. The bathrooms and laundry is cleaned twice a day and at the same time each day. Could not be better. Mowing happens as needed and cleans empty sites when they are emptied. (To include high pressure washing). The ladies in the office are always extremely polite and professional. The camp host spends the time to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable with what is going on. A great beach is only a short walk. (Not the campgrounds fault, but some people do leave trash on beach for others to pick up). My only negative is the lack of local Wifi. You can purchase Wifi from a third party for a daily, weekly, or months rate. I was not happy with the third party. Would be nice if the base provided the wifi. We used the free Wifi at Starbucks down the street at least once a day. We will spend 2 to 4 weeks at this campground each year we are able to camp. There so much to do here. You can stay busy with just the base activities.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. We made reservations 3 months out and at that time assigned Site #17 and that is where we parked. While checking in one of the office persons received a call that the Blue Angels had cancelled everything including their practices. We had looked forward to seeing them but there are enough other things to do around the area to keep you occupied. We visited the National Cemetery and Fort Barrancas on base and for the first time, Fort Pickens. The real only bad thing about this park is it's lack of WiFi. You can get WiFi from a private concern if you want to pay. We had been without for about 2 weeks and decided to pay the 14.95 for a week. The connections were mediocre at best. We decided that next time we would not do this again and instead go down the road to the Starbucks or Nex and use theirs. It's free, the connections are good and you can sit in your vehicle if you choose. You can wash your vehicles on site but anything with chemicals is not allowed. For the dirtier vehicles there is a wash rack (free)just down the road but if you go there take your own hose as most of theirs are rotten. I hope the following was an isolated thing and doesn't go any further. My next door neighbor had a top-load deep freezer on his patio and I saw another site with a refrigerator. I can understand the frig better than a freezer. Anyway, we enjoyed our visit and looking forward to next time.

This was our first "snowbird" trip to a military RV park and we loved this campground! Great walking/jogging trails, a beautiful sand beach, a great Fitness Center, the Lighthouse and NAS Museum, not to mention the Blue Angels. If you have the opportunity to watch them practice, the best view is from the bleachers behind the museum, which is within walking distance... and you will want to walk or ride bikes; They generate a lot of tourism so the parking lot is packed. Restrooms and laundry facilities are very clean and laundry very reasonable. This campground is a great location for day trips out to see the sites. Sundays we enjoyed attending Liberty Church (Blue Angel Campus) not far from the back gate. The only draw-back was not having a commissary on site. It wasn't far however, and easy to find at Corry Station, but I would have enjoyed riding my bicycle there. We will definately be back!

We had a good time at Oak Grove. Accommodations were good. Didn't like the fact that we had to move overall it was a good experience. Great laundry, nice people in the office. Can't beat the location. We camped in a 40' motor home and will likely be back.

This was our first experience camping on a base - and now we are ready to do it again and again. This location is terrific - close to beaches, base activities and area cities. The exchange and commissary are indeed a few miles from campground - about 5 miles - but the facilities were the best we've ever experienced - left too much money at Exchange. Shady oak trees, concrete pads and full hookups were great! Laundry was super - lots of machines in great condition. We will be back!

The last 2 reviews are giving out wrong information. The nearest commissary is not at Whiting Field in Milton. It is not on NAS Pensacola but at Corry Station. It is located about 3 miles from the main gate of NAS Pensacola and not that hard to find. Go out the main gate and make a left turn onto US-98 and the next street is Corry Station. I also don't understand the parking lot congestion there either. We've been going there for the last 5 years and haven't seen the parking problems.

Great camping experience! We had a hard time getting backed in to our site, it seems the long timers all take the end sites and the one night guest are stuck trying to back in in the middle of the night waking everyone up. The camp host was helpful and did not mind helping me get backed in. The base is set up as a training command, so no commissary. The closest one is at Whiting field in Milton, FL. We had a great time taking our son to the beach, but be forewarned the sand will follow you back to your rig and will get in to every thing. Laundry prices are reasonable, plenty of machines to go around. The whole base is kind of out of the way if you are traveling from the west. If you are traveling to Foley, AL, to visit the outlet mall, it is very convenient and close. We stopped for the night on our way to Orlando, I will plan to stop again.
July 8 & 9, 2012
When we came in through the back gate the guards said that the park was well marked but we did not see one sign. We just happen to see it at the last minute and turned in. We were welcomed by the camp host and since it was a few minutes before 4pm she said that we would have to pay in the morning which was fine. We were given a base map that was the worst base map we've ever gotten. We had a very difficult time finding the NEX and it wasn't until we got directions from Starbucks that we found it. Once we arrived there was no place to park and were going to leave when a spot opened up. But overall the campground was well kept and facilities very clean.

I can't say enough good things about this park. We've been here several times and each time gets better. The hosts, Malcolm and Joan are about the best anywhere. We were told that the hosts can only stay here for 3 months and have to move on. Pelican Roost should look at this system. One big improvement from our last visit 2 years ago is the paving of the main street through the park to the cabins. It cuts down on the dust but it provides a better opportunity for the speeders. The cabin occupants have to use this road for access and that is where most of the speeders come from. The map brochure we received at check-in stated that 35 additional campsites were being developed on Jackson Court. Another brochure listed this area as the Jackson Court Overflow with 3 full hookup sites and 21 dry sites. We took a ride down there and found no changes from last time we were here. They do have 3 full hookup sites and several dry sites but there has been no development. WiFi was unacceptable. We did use the base library for that purpose and it met our needs quite well. The Blue Angels as usual were great. This time we chose to sit at the park and watch the show rather than fight the crowds at the museum. You can wash your vehicles on site but can't use any chemicals. There is a wash area down the road past the museum but if you go take your hose with you. The ones here are rotted and unusable. This is one of our favorite parks and we will continue to come back.

Good luck getting them to answer the phone. Tried for a couple of days now but no answer. The phone is busy one second and the next second there's no answer. I expected better since reservations are mandatory.
27 Dec to 11 Jan 2011-2012
This is our 2nd stay and certainly will not be our last. Great location and sites spacious. We had #48 adjacent to beach. Laundry very clean and efficient with all washers and dryers working. No problem to get key from office. This is one of the few dog friendly beaches in Florida. Easy walking distance to Lighthouse. Be sure and visit Fort Barrancas and Naval Museum on base. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had a great and fun New Year's party and potluck dinner New Year's day. We prefer this site to the Blue Angel Recreation site. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
June 20 - Sept 13, 2011
THIS IS THE 2ND TIME WE HAVE STAYED AT OAK GROVE PARK THIS YEAR. WE SPENT OUR SUMMER HERE AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. THE CAMPGROUND IS CLEAN, THE GROUNDS WELL GROOMED, THE BATHHOUSE IS VERY CLEAN, THE LAUNDRY FACILITIES ALWAYS CLEAN (50 CENTS TO WASH & 25 CENTS TO DRY). THE BEACH IS BEAUTIFUL. WATCHING & LISTENING TO THE BLUE ANGELS & THE OTHER JETS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. NOT ONLY ARE THE FACILITIES FANTASTIC BUT WE WANTED TO COMMEND THE STAFF AT OAK GROVE PARK. THE WORKERS IN THE OFFICE, ESPECIALLY LYN, ARE ALWAYS FRIENDLY & HELPFUL. THE GROUNDS CREW & THE CABIN CLEANING STAFF WERE ALL FRIENDLY & ALWAYS WILLING TO OFFER A HELPING HAND. THE CAMP HOSTS, MALCOLM & JOAN, WERE THE NICEST CAMP HOSTS THAT WE HAVE MET IN OUR TRAVELS. THEY WERE ALWAYS THERE WITH A SMILE & MADE IT A POINT TO SPEAK TO EVERYONE & SCHEDULED SPECIAL ICE CREAM SOCIALS, STAFF APPRECIATION DAY & POTLUCK DINNERS. THEY TRULY KNOW THE DEFINITION OF "HOST". WE HOPE THEY ARE THERE AGAIN WHEN WE RETURN NEXT YEAR. THE NEW DIRECTOR, JAY, HAS ALREADY STARTED IMPROVEMENTS SUCH AS THE LIGHTHOUSE/PARK AREA THAT WAS BUILT DURING OUR STAY. THE WIFI NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND JAY IS ALREADY LOOKING FOR A WAY TO IMPROVE THIS.
11-14 Sept - 11
R.G. left this review using the Directory software: - This was our first time here in PNCLA NAS to camp. The Camp Hosts never contacted us while we were here. The beach and concrete sites are great and I will be back in the future.

D.W. left this review using the Directory software: - We stayed at Oak Grove Park for 6 days and enjoyed every minute. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. The restrooms are top notch, very clean and kept that way. If you want to see the Blue Angels practice get to the museum parking lot NLT 0730, pick a spot as far back as possible and walk to the gate at the end of the restoration hanger. The gate will probably be opened by 0730 and if so proceed to the bleachers. There is a C-130, retired Fat Albert, that has one wing hanging over the bleachers, pick a spot under that wing and you will have shade during the show, and what a show it is! Oak Grove Park is a great famcamp, the only thing I would change is drop the free cable TV and replace it with free wi-fi. The current price schedule for internet connections is: 7.95 per day, or 33 cents per hour; 14.95 per week or $2.13 per day; 21.95 per month or 73 cents per day. If they can offer 73 cents per day for a month why not $1 for one 24 hr period? There is free wi-fi at the Navy Exchange but it is several miles away. Bottom line, don't miss this park if you are in the area, and enjoy the local history. We visited Ft Pickins on Santa Rosa Seashore NP and Fts Barrancas and Spanish water fort right on Pensacola NAS. Again, great place to camp.
24 Oct - 3 Nov 10
Really enjoyed the stay. Overall, it is very slow-paced. May be the time of year. The base itself has a small Naval Exchange, but the Commissary is located on Correy Station about 3 miles or so off base. Naval Museum is kinda cool as well as a noteworthy lighthouse. There are lots of good places to eat seafood from Destin to Gulf Shores and we tried many of them. We especially liked the Back Porch. Other than that, places to see mostly involved beach type sites. While we were here, BP was combing the beaches for oil mess. We found the park cramped, but it didn't bother us much other than getting parked in our waterfront site. Backing in was compounded by a gentleman host (long hair and sweats) who insisted on directing me into my site when I didn't ask nor want assistance.
April 25 - May 9th, 2011
This was a very nice campground. We had what they called a waterfront site. You could see the beach & the ocean thru the trees, altho 50's sites had better views. We were on #48 & it had 3 trees we had to get around to park our 41' Class A. They really should take out the 1st one. We were able to get satellite on our site but our neighbor on 49 could not. I didn't use the bath house, but the laundry was very well kept, spacious & reasonably priced. We enjoyed watching the blue angels practice on Tues & Wed mornings. Evenings, around 6 -7 could get a little noisy with many planes coming & going. There was plenty around there to do - the Aviation Museum is very nice & "free". We didn't find the camp host or the staff overly friendly -nothing bad, just not like some others.
April 2-9, 2011
Sites are level and wide, easy access to each one. You may have unhook your toad. The Staff is very friendly and helpful. Spectacular Air Show Tue and Wed, early in the morning, Blue Angels. The campground is right on the beach and the water and beach are awesome. We are planning on another trip and have already made reservations. Really we had nothing but praise for the campground. We have paid less for sites but overall with the museum within a brisk walk and a walking trail its a great deal. Pets are welcome and allowed on the beach on base.
March 19-26, 2011
First off, WOW! It is more expensive at $23 a night, and the beach "front" ones are a little higher. We stayed in site 45 and had a view of the water for a good chunk of the trip. Tip: Call and request a particular site. They do come and empty the dumpster in the 6:00am hour on Monday morning, so be prepared for a big ka-boom! We are already up, so no problem for us. The kids were disappointed that they were unable to have s'mores (no open fires except in the tent area), and my husband wanted to follow the rules and not use the tent area for a fire. Bathhouse was outstanding! We did not use the wi-fi or laundry. The kids and the husband watched some TV, but I didn't. Apparently, there are a TON of channels, and that is a nice perk. The location is good to the beach, the museum, and the shoppette. You will have to drive 15 minutes-ish to the Navy Shopping Mall at Corry Station to use the NEX or Commissary. There is a NEX on station, but it is apparel/gifts only. The Starbucks on station is only open M-F 9-3, but the one in the NEX has more extended hours for coffee connoisseurs. The kids did like to get their hot chocolate at the one on the beach at 7:00 when the breeze was blowing and you were right on the water! :-) The museum is excellent, but allow at least 2 days to see everything. We only allowed one and didn't get to see Hangar One. Also, the 11am Trolley Tour is the only one where you get to see the restoration hangar (due to the noise). Get your FREE tickets at 9:00 when you get to the museum at opening. They go fast! Also, don't waste time watching the IMAX movie, especially if you can buy it in the gift shop (a mistake we made!). We really recommend going to see the Blue Angels on Wednesday morning, but don't even think of getting a seat after 7:45am. They sign autographs in the atrium after the Wednesday show, but better hurry because they only stay for so long. The museum is busiest on Tuesdays and Wednesdays due to the Blue Angel practice, so plan another day if possible. We thought the sites were adequate for our 27' bumper pull but probably tight if you're longer than that and you have to park next to your rig. LOVED the concrete patio and main roads being asphalt. Nice for kids on bikes and scooters. The camp host probably thinks I do nothing but yell at my kids (seemed to be right when he'd be going by LOL) but boy is he helpful! His duty hours are over at 9pm, FYI, but he helped us back in our rig at 8:45. Great guy! This is by far a campground that gets great reviews from anyone we talk to. Quite a few regulars, come to find out! Call ASAP when you are allowed to make reservations. It was full while we were there and I called 4 months in advance. Enjoy NAS Pensacola-- we sure did!
7 Jan - 21 Jan 2011
I give location a 4.0 only because when they open the back gate to the base at 5:00 AM you will think you are sleeping on a race track. Price is higher than most military parks. WiFi connections are expensive. MWR manager appears to be hampering hosts desire to run socializing events. All in all, still a good value.
Jan 2011
Although the sites are small, with some care they can be negotiated. Some of the office staff act as though they would rather be somewhere else, but if you are nice you can find out what you need. Facilities are spotless. There are nice walking trails and great restaurants in Pensacola. Check Joe Patti's for fresh seafood for cooking.
