Last minute change in plans brought us to Blue Angel RV Park, and we were very pleased with the facility. Friendly, helpful staff, nice sites with concrete pads and full hook ups, very nice bath house and laundry. Great view from the front rows and a short walk to the beach and a great view of Perdido Bay. We took a ride to check out the RV Park at NAS Pensacola and weren't impressed with how tightly they pack them in over there. The only down side I can see to the Blue Angel site is they don't take advance reservations because they aren't computerized. Seems like the military could figure that out and bring this to a full 5 star facility. In all, a GREAT location and close to everything. Make sure to spend the day at the National Naval Aviation Museum - even if you've been there before, it's changed and worth another visit. 26-29 April 20130 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Nice people at the office. Had a nice spot, site nine facing the water. Lots of new sites and looks great. I hear that the locals use this as a summer spot. Move RVs here and come back on weekends. One such next to us. Van and small rv empty for three days. Left water on. A leak outside keeps the concret wet such attracts bugs and wastes water. Have not seen a camp host. A little out of the way but worth the stop. Would come back. Jan 12 - March 23, 20130 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Great, friendly place to stay. Well kept, nice views, helpful staff. In regards to past comments about the broken washers - there are two buildings with washer/dryers, so it just meant the newer building was down to only two working washers for a little over a month. Not a real big deal in the scope of things. Not far from the NEX and Commissary, and only a few miles from the nearest Waffle House. What more do you want out of life? Didn't notice any issues with utilities either. Will be back!! 10 to 14 Mar 20131 of 1 people found the following review helpful
B.C. left this review using the Directory software: - The new section was added and opened in Nov 2012. More pull throughs and Handicap. Slabs level and less trees then old section but easy to park your rig. January 20131 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Great experience. We were fortunate when we arrived at checkout another camper had just vacated a front row site (Battleship side), it was great. It would be nice if reservations were allowed. We had stayed there a number of years ago, very little has changed, only exception is the additional sites which will be nice when they get the all open (electric problem-unresolved). P.C. submitted this review using the Directory software: - Really great place - on the water for $20 a night Comparable places in the area are $60 and up - mostly up. Very well maintained campground with excellent electric and water pressure. The CG is natural but very well kept. Large concrete sites with plenty of patio room. Front 3 rows on Battleship Row all have a view of the water. Staff was friendly, hospitable, and helpful - 3 campers stood around joking and laughing with the staff for an hour one day - great group. One of the best military CG's we've been too. Only down side - in the laundry out of 4 washers only 2 were working - pretty minor complaint. To get to the BX/Commissary: go out the way you came in. On Bronson Road at the T intersection where you turned to enter the Rec Area turn right. Go 7.2 miles. You will pass the Navy Hospital on the left. At the second light after the Navy Hospital you will see a large complex of white buildings on the right and 1st Navy Bank on the left. Turn left just before the bank and that road will take you directly to the BX, Commissary, gas station, Class VI, etc. If you're looking for a "manicured" or landscaped campground with gardens and grass this is probably not the place for you - it's what we call a "more natural" CG with sand/dirt/plants/trees between the paved sites. :-) Clean, with no trash or dog poop laying around that we saw. People in the office were really great - friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. Good water views from the first 2 or 3 rows - nice to sit on the patio with a drink and enjoy the view. REALLY quiet! Didn't use the facilities so can't comment. This is a great place and we'll definitely be back. Feb 20131 of 1 people found the following review helpful
The new additions to Battleship Row are great paved & level sites with a new 3 family style shower/restrooms and adjacent laundry facilities. This previous seaplane base has lots of shoreline to enjoy and away from the hustle and bustle of crowds, highways etc. A great value if your ever on the famcamp trail! Spend some time here then over to Oak Grove with reservations to enjoy the NAS Pensacola with all it's attractions. If we weren't here, we'd wanna be! THIS CAMP GROUND HAS WENT FROM 450.00 A MONTH TO 540.00 A MONTH WITH NO ADDED AMENITIES. THEY HAVE LOW WATER PRESSUER SINCE THEY ADDED THE NEW 40 SITES IN BATTELSHIP SIDE OF THE CAMP GROUND. IT IS A NICE PARK, BUT IT IS OVER PRICED. Sep 20124 of 4 people found the following review helpful
My favorite so far. Lots to see and do or just relax. First park Military or civilian that I have hated to leave and will look forward to coming back for a longer stay. Kayaking in the bay with dolphins all around you, just don't get no better. Nov. 1, 2011 - April 1, 20123 of 3 people found the following review helpful
Stayed here from Nov. 1 to April 1. This is the policy for winter stays. CG has everything you need, full pad, 50 amp, sewer, paved roads and street lights. Cable would be a nice addition since most sites you can not get satellite because of the trees. The grounds need help. did not see anyone doing anything on the grounds during my stay. The trees need trimming your rig will hit small branches as you travel threw the CG. the leaves need to be racked, grass cut and fire rings cleaned and repaired. I asked the office if they ever racked or cut grass and the excuse was that several years ago they where weed eating and a small rock hit a RV and the person tryed to have his rig repainted because of it. I don't buy that excuse because every CG we have visited they post when they are going to cut the grass and state they are not liable. Which is good enough for me. I asked about the fire rings being cleaned out and was told it was my responsibility. (I cleaned and repaired mine). The camp Host is tucked way in the back of the CG and i was not sure who they were. They have started construction on 40 more sites and the manager of OAK GROVE is also Blue Angles manager. I expect to see some great changes and improvements as he has at Oak Grove. Reservations and maybe some personnel changes. This review is for the Battleship side of the CG. Anchor Cove side is a mess. would not stay on that side. Camp Host over there has a porta potty and window AC units that should say it all. Some tree trimming and gravel would make it a good weekend / short stay / over flow CG. March 25, 20122 of 2 people found the following review helpful
We came with a group of civilian and retired military and their family and had a wonderful time paint balling. The two people handing out equipment were polite and helpful. The grounds could be cleaner but it was ok, as it was paintball. The gate staff, however, was rude and very unfriendly. We smiled, were polite and very friendly and she was grumpy, downright rude and slow. Not a good first entrance experience for anyone later that day! (We were there at 10:30am). 8 Dec 2011 - 10 Dec 20110 of 0 people found the following review helpful
We arrived at 4pm and the office was already closed. Didn't quite know what to do about picking a campsite but we found some campers outside and asked them and they just told us to pick a spot and go to the office in the morning to pay. That worked. There were many available campsites to pick from and we got a pull through in the Battleship Row. The campground is rather run down looking but you can't beat the price for the area. Had a hard time finding the BX/Commissary even with a map but finally found it. The guy at the office was really friendly. I would say it's good for an overnight stay or two but we wouldn't stay there for any length of time. It was cold when we were there so we didn't check out the beach. This was our second visit here this year. We had a very nice site looking at the water. Restroom facilities were clean as well as the laundry. The grass needs to be cut more often. I had mail delivered regularly there and for the most part it was fine. However, twice I attempted to get my mail from the office within the last hour of the office closing (1500 to 1600) and was "blown off" by the employee working. He would not take the time to check for me, insisting I had no mail. After the second time , I approached him with an e-mail verification showing my mail was signed for two days earlier. Don't expect a high level of quality customer service that last hour of the day in the office. BTW, the mail was there and I had seen it sitting there the night before. Had planned to stay here for 4 nights. Rented one of the two bedroom mobile homes they have on site. Ended up staying one VERY LONG night then leaving as soon as it was daylight. Mobile home was filthy and infested with roaches and ants. The a/c unit looks like it came from an industrial plant-huge and loud. When it kicks on the mobile home literally moves...did I mention LOUDLY? It did keep the place cool though...the bugs looked comfy. Campground itself needs a great deal of cleanup. Overgrown is an understatement. Weeds are knee-high. Main area of camp appears to have been an old airfield. Now is just a cement, weedy, huge parking lot. The beach had potential-until we realized the sand was covered in ants. Have been to a lot of beaches in Florida but never had to leave because of ants on the sand! Same thing in the playground-structures were ant covered. We are not picky people...first time we ever left a place early due to poor conditions. This park is not worth your time or your money. We stay here regularly beautiful park friendly staff child and dog friendly. May 20111 of 2 people found the following review helpful
Great location and we had a nice view of the water. The campground seems to be regularly monitored by security and campground staff. The commissary and exchange complex is easy to get to and very nice. We stayed on the older side of the campground because no spots were available in the newer section. The disadvantage of the older side is no 50 amp service or sewer hookup. The campground host was very nice. Mar 20110 of 1 people found the following review helpful
The staff were very friendly and the overall area was kept neat and clean. The bathroom facility was especially clean. Short drive to the Naval Air Museum which is free and terrific. 28 Mar 20110 of 2 people found the following review helpful
Had early morning appointments at the VA clinic so spent a night to be close. Nice campground. Road in is long and not sure you're ever going to get there but friendly reception at the gate (when they are open). Parking tight at the gate to get signed in. Stayed on the "B" row with full hookups. Had a little difficulty getting the camp map oriented to the roads (and I was a navigator so that's saying something). The camp roads need to be marked better with signs pointing to camp site numbers for instance. Hookups first rate. Good water pressure. Lots of "long termers" with several looking like they have been there for a very long time. Nice street lights at night and very quiet. Plenty of biting mosquitoes however. Showers adequate but showing signs of wear. They were clean and usable though. Lots of signs that checkout was at 1100 and would be charged for an additional day if still in your spot past that. Appointments went long and we were not hooked up and pulling out until 1500. Gate receptionist waived us through the gate and camp hosts waved as we left but no one said a word about the late departure. Wife loved it there so we will be going back for a longer stay. Only real negative was the obvious lack of people cleaning up after their four-legged family members! Oct 24 - Nov 1, 20101 of 3 people found the following review helpful
This is our second stay here and it was even better than before. There are lots of things to do in the area and what made this stay so great was the activities going on. They decorated the back part of the c/g and decorated for Halloween. They had a great carnival and hay rides that night. It was so much fun. The staff there are also great. New bathrooms/showers are great. Thanks. Will return. October 20101 of 2 people found the following review helpful
