There are no 50 amp hookups. Everything was 20 & 30 amp. 50 amp would have been nice.

We stayed this past summer. Overall we had a nice time. They need to add 50 amp hookups. The park can use a good cleaning especially the bath house. Some the trees need to be cleared away for easier rv parking. the sites could be leveled a bit more. The officers club that runs the park is being updated, they should invest some money into the rv park. The hosts were very nice people.

We stayed there only one night. We arrived about 4pm. The campground host was not on duty but a note on the door indicated our space. It was a hot day/evening and there was no tree cover at our RV space. The space itself was sandy loam, not a paved space and very gritty. The bath house was dirty and the showers were very small and the floors very wet making it difficult to shower, dry off and change. We did not take advantage of any other amenities. This is run by the Camp Grayling Officer's Club and it was interesting to note that several of the RV spaces were occupied by the same people for dozens of years and have been made their own. One resident showed us "his" space that he has occupied each summer for the last 37 years. It was like a permanent homestead. The price was right, however, at $17 a night. I would only return if I needed a safe harbor for the night and I would not use their bath house.

We stayed here in a travel trailer on our way north. The camp is just off I75 and just inside the security gate. All the sites are mostly level but sandy. It rained while we were here so the trailer got a little gritty. Although the place had many empty sites, only about a half dozen were available. We didn't have reservations. There is good hunting, fishing, canoeing here, so I imagine is might be busy on weekends in season. We will stay here again. Full hookups, cable TV, and WiFi for $17.00 a night.

my wife and i drove by the check out the site for 2012. we were both not impressed. the park was not well maintained. there doesn't seem to be much up keep to the park. doesn't support newer larger rv's. as stated in the previous review, sewer lines are on the wrong side. sites aren't clearly marked. the restrooms were not maintained. i love nature, but some of the tree need to be cut down. many of them block slide outs from opening fully. the ground is very uneven. in comparing this park to the one at camp perry, there is no comparison. camp perry lots are paved and level. up keep is on a constant basis. the office isn't maintained by the officers club. i don't know how the money aspect of camp perry is, but they seem to care about their rv park more than grayling. grayling needs major work. the officers club house that manages the rv park looks like a palace. i can see where the money goes. it's apparent that no officers stay there. i can safely say that we won't be staying there. which is a shame, because the location is excellent. the lake is a short walk away. this really could/can be a excellent site that could have a mile long waiting list to get on if someone would just fix it up. we are going to be working on the post next year, and had planned on bringing our 5th wheel. it would be to much of a headache to try to maneuver into.

not much good to say here. The Nat Guard should be ashamed of this facility. Dirt sites with well worn patches of grass here and there. Older...older facility. Sewer lines located on wrong side . Restrooms had peeling wall and floor paint although the to it's and sinks were clean. Showers had obvious black mold everywhere. It's obvious the Officers Club isn't minding the health and welfare of their personnel. This place needs a complete redo. The beach was very nice, so? A one stand for this place.

W.B. left this review using the Directory software: It's an older one as others have said, but is well taken care of. Not only free Wi-Fi, but there's now cable tv as well. The 'Troop Store' is a small PX, but it's more than found at most non-active duty bases. On-site manager is very friendly and helpful. Lake is clean and there's a good sized beach.

What everyone else said except if you're making dust, you are driving too fast. Lots of dogs, however, dogs are only allowed in the campground and not on post. Usually I let Mr. GPS find our way. Luckily this time we needed to go to the PO first. When I tried to dial in Camp Grayling in the Garmin, it couldn't find it. Asked some locals and they gave us good directions from where we were. In the CG I was talking to a neighbor who let his Garmin take them about 16 miles away and they got stuck in the sand and ended up with a $180 tow bill.

We stayed at the park during Labor Day weekend. Sites were very close together but level. We did not have a problem leveling our 37ft Coach. The best sites are occupied by long termers. A very relaxing campground! Over all this is a good camp site for the price. Would stay again!

Concur with other reviewers who have noted that this park is somewhat run down. As usual, I was living out of my FW while training one of the MI ARNG units out in the maneuver area. Many of the MI ARNG units were up at Camp Grayling for their AT (a busy place in the summer), so during my stay the camp was fairly crowded. Sites are very close together (built before the advent of slides, I suspect) so larger trailers/FWs tend to be about 4 feet apart in many cases, and while it would not be accurate to describe this crowd of Guardsmen/campers as "raucus" - they are young and will obviously socialize during the evenings - so if your trailer is 4 feet away from their gathering place you may find the park a little noisy during peak AT periods (assuming you're trying to sleep as opposed to staying up and drinking beer with them...). Many of the sites are not level (laterally), which can cause substantial wash problems when it rains heavily (which it is bound to do). The "playground" appears to be a collection of 2 x 4's nailed together creatively, and the "renovated" bathroom had copious amounts of peeling paint and mold/mildew (I wouldn't even use it and I'm an old soldier...). Concur that while the manager-couple (retired MI ARNG member) are friendly, they are getting on in years and are essentially unable to keep up with the maintenance requirements, and the "Officer's Club" (great drinks/lousy food) has not put any money into the park in many, many years. Cell coverage is extremely weak in the park, and generally nonexistant once you enter the maneuver area to the west. I pulled in about 3 or 4 local digital channels with a standard roof antenna. Having said all that - it's the only game in town around here; it's inexpensive; had both 30 and 50A service and sewer; the park is heaviy wooded thus well shaded; Michigan is, of course, beautiful in the summer; and the lake (about a 2-min walk down a path) is beautiful and full of fish. There are a few great restaurants and an espresso shop in Grayling (my definition of civilization), and, finally, it's close to Mackinac Island, which should be on everybody's bucket list. If I come back up here to train another unit I suppose I'll stay here again. Strongly encourage you to call the park manager (989-344-6604) to confirm your reservation before you show up, as it appears the O-Club and the managers have some bureaucratic comms problems. I've posted a couple of phone pics so you can get an idea of how the park looks with trailers in it.

We have stayed at the Campground for the last 5 years and enjoy it. It isn't your high dollar place, but very nice. Everyone there is polite and willing to help out it there is something wrong with your camper or tent. You have lake access, camp fire pits and just have an over all enjoyable time.

We stopped here for a travel break--staying 3 days. Sites are dirt and roads are gravel, making for a lot of dust. We had no trouble getting our 35-foot coach leveled. Sites are wide enough to get slides and awning out. The campground is completely shady, so no satellite tv. We did not use the bath house. The hosts are friendly and helpful. Campground is on a beautiful lake. A 40 mile ride to Traverse City where we picked cherries. We would stop here again.

First, I rated everything a 3 because nothing was open. I guess I didn't read the article here very well. The campground does not open until May and here I am early. The guard at the gate said there is nothing on in the campground. NO electric or water. Since I was going to generate my own power, I was allowed to just stay in a site. From what I can see, the sites are very close together, but I would not want to say more. It is a rainy, cold, windy day, so I did not go exploring. It looks like it would be a nice overnight stop, but for long term, I don't know. I did try calling ahead to find out information, but cold never get an answer.

This is a great park for the traveler who wants easy travel to Traverse or Mackinaw. The bathrooms need updated as the shower stalls has paint peeling from the walls and there is no soap or towel dispenser. The electric needs to be updated to accommodate the bigger rigs, we had low power the whole time we were there. The park manager and his wife are nice people, but have a hard time keeping up with everything a park manager position requires. I think improvements could be made without taking away from the atmosphere of the park.

Wonderful campground conveniently located off of I-75 just a couple miles from a small town. Nicely wooded area with close access to a scenic lake. One mile from the PX, not a full PX but has just about anything you could need on a short trip. Nice trails for biking and hiking with abundant wildlife. Only real complaint would be how ridiculously small the campsites were. There were no fire-pits and minimal room to park one vehicle. We had a mini-van and had to park it at an angle to fit it between our neighbors' trucks. Overall, we had a great time.

Harold and Lillian are wonderful park managers, they serve you with a smile and a hug, and we have enjoyed our stays at the campground and will continue to be seasonal campers. We just hope they continue to be the park managers for as long as they are able. Service like the one they provide is hard to find this day and age. The camp is quite, and is a bit old but if you update then it will not be the same (we are camping not staying and a hotel.) It would be nice if the lots were bigger.

Heavily treed and many sites close to each other, with gravel or dirt pads. They have a playground, but it's old and worn. The bathrooms are bad, and the campground is in major need of care/attention. There is free laundry at two different facilities, and campers can eat at the main dining facility. They also have free canoes and paddle boats through outdoor rec. We had a decent stay, and the folks on base everywhere were kind, but I wouldn't stay here again unless I needed a 1/2 way, overnight stay...

This campground gives trailer parks a bad name. We had reservations for two weeks, with a five-day prepaid deposit. The dirt camp sites were unlevel, close and very unkept. The shower/toilet building was deplorable; stalls were old and dirty and insect nests/webs were everywhere. The only good thing about the place was the friendliness of the hosts, however, they were so elderly that they didn't get around well. The place is run by the officer's club. It is obvious that an "officer" hasn't been around for years nor have they put a dime back into the place. Needless to say, we didn't even stay our deposit's worth - we left after three days.

Nice area of Michigan -- major attractions around here are the rivers (canoeing a big enterprise in town) and golf. Two good golf courses very nearby. Lake Margrethe, about a block away from the campground, is very pleasant. Marina on post has non-motorized boats available for NO fee! Campground is very wooded and sites seemed crowded to us. We had some difficulty getting into our back-in site due to parked vehicles along the fairly narrow roads. There are several "seasonal" sites here. Some sites were rather unkempt, and everything about the place could stand some updating. That being said, the managers were very nice, and we were able to get a satellite signal (LUCK). We would return but would ask for a site on a street other than the one that has many seasonal residents. Says all reservations have to be partially paid in advance but no one asked us to do so when we made the reservation on the phone and this seemed no problem.
