This location is no where near the location on the map. Look north of the airport for the two lakes and it is on the left side of the left lake. There is NO CELL PHONE SERVICE. It is a 30 min. Drive on mostly dirt roads to reach civilization. I grew up in this community, and had no idea that this place existed. It is quiet during the week, drilling guardsmen will keep you up when the range is "hot" and it will go on all day and night. If gunfire at 0200 does not bother you, great place to stay. Wildlife coming out of the woods to see what you have in your garbage. Don't leave anything out that you don't want to clean up in the morning. Bugs in the bathroom, mostly roaches, ants, spiders, and moths. Price just doubled to $10, not worth the increase. Unfortunately there is not much else in Alexandria/Pinevile, the closest KOA just closed. You will be better served staying at the Paragon Casino in Marksville.

Had a bad experience with this place because I never found it. I tried calling the RV site number listed to make a reservation at 1550 and again at 1630 but got only answering machine both times. Left message twice but no response. Asked operator to connect to MP. MP guy said billeting folks left office at 1500 and that he would try and research RV site and call me back. He didn't. Called again and talked to new MP guy (shift change) and he said meet him at gate to Camp Beauregard. We did and he gave us verbal directions to RV site. It was 6 miles away down Highway 116. No mention was made of needing a key once we got there. We followed directions and ended up lost down a dirt road where we eventually saw a "danger firing range" sign and US Marshalls office sign. We called the MP back and he said we turned left when we should have turned right so we went back and took the right turn. After traveling a couple of miles down that dirt road we gave up. There was never any signs for an RV site or even any signs that we were entering a restricted area. Very strange. A map would have very helpful but even if we had found the place, we would not have been able to enter without a key which other reviewers have mentioned and it sounds like it is a "no frills" RV site. Wish I had read the reviews here first...we wouldn't have even bothered to try and stay here. Anyway, it was my worst experience with a military RV site. Users beware. (Couldn't submit this review unless all ratings were entered so did all 1's even tho we never found the place.)

No doubt about it...this is REMOTE CAMPING!!! We made reservations with no problem. Entered the far right gate and proceeded to the Bldg 301 located on the left hand side. Courtney had given us site RV 3. She gave us keys to the gate and electric box. She also gave us a copy of directions (exact mile calculation per turn) and the campground map. The cost of staying was increased to $10 a night. She also informed us that all other reservations cancelled that weekend due to weather moving in. NICE! We traveled down the hardball for about 4.5 miles but it did turn into a gravel road for the last 4 miles. After getting to the site RV 3, we realized that we were on the downslope and that all the RV sites were uneven on the starboard side (right side for you land lovers). We set up our travel trailer by placing a 2X8 under the starboard wheels which almost leveled it. Did a recon of the campground and realized that RV 1 held the high ground and RV 2 appeared the most level. Spent the night with little rain. Next morning we went back to Camp Beauregard and asked to be switched to RV 1 which was granted. After re-establishing camp we explored the lake and surrounding area. You can tell that this place was quite the location back in the day. We were told that we would probably get no TV air waves but we did pick up at least 3 channels. No internet connection at all. Must admit that it was nice to have this campground all to ourselves for three days and the rain was minimal. Great mountain bike roads in local area. Fitness Center on camp was small but functionable with a running/walking course nearby. The museum was OUTSTANDING!

B.H. left this review using the Directory software: Stopped here at about 1600 on a Monday to spend the night but had many problems. The MPs at the gate said the Post was closed on Monday so she called her Supervisor and directed me to the MP Station where I could get a key to the Camp Site. I met with a SSG who said he could not find any keys and could not do anything for me. I was also informed the camp site was about 15 miles from the post. We were tired but we drove a while longer and spent the night at a rest area. Everyone I met said it was a beautiful place but I would not know.

If you like getting away and roughing it, this may be the spot for you. You have to register at the base about 7 miles from the campgrounds, to include picking up a key as the camp is gated with no on site staff. The base personnel were friendly and helpful giving good directions to the camp. The road to the camp is for the last couple of miles dirt. The sites are dirt/gravel with full hookups. And each also has a picnic table. The only facilities are a restroom/showers which are in much need of repair/cleaning. Doors do not close well, and they had not been cleaned in what may have been months. The lakes are only a short walk from the sites. I only spent the night there but found it to be a quiet change of pace, and I really enjoyed the peace while I was there.
