Stayed here 3 days on our way north. Very quite and relaxing. Sites were pretty close, but good for a short stay. We have a 40 ft. 5th wheel and fit in. Has a small pond. Had water, electric, & sewer hookups at our site. Direct TV, Verizon cell & Internet worked great. Paid $14.00 per night. FamCamp is on base and easy to get to. Check in is at the far rear of the FamCamp. Not far from other shopping and dining out. Has a small store right next to FamCamp. Had laundry with 3 washers & dryers .50 each. I'm not a numbers rater, either I like a FamCamp or not. Well I like this FamCamp. Will stay here again. 24 Apr 20130 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Nice campground, camp host very helpfully. Lack of WIFI and Cable reduced my Amenities score. Mini mart 1 minute walk from Campground. Will not take reservations. April 20 - 21, 20130 of 0 people found the following review helpful
I was surprised seeing the earlier review after we got here. Yes, the individual pads are narrow and do not flair out at the entrance, but we had no difficulty backing in and there was plenty of room between RVs. There is a really great nature trail that is probably 3.5 - 4 miles long were you can take a walk with your four legged friends. The host was helpful to a fault. We choose to you are own bathroom so am unable to comment about the CGs bath area. The park is very clean and tidy and easily accessible to either I-40 or I-240 which you must use to enter. The park is no more then 10 minutes to downtown Oklahoma City and traffic was not an issue even at morning rush hour. We would come here again. Just wish we could make reservations in advance. A number of bases do not offer reservation services which could be a problem. Sep 10-11, 20121 of 3 people found the following review helpful
Have stayed at multiple military campgrounds with great results but would not ever stay at Tinker again. I'm dumbfounded that it has received so many good reviews. First, let me say that Linda checked us in and was very friendly and helpful in getting us into our site. But sites are ridiculously tight and all back-ins. While getting into our site the hood of our truck was literally underneath the front end of the fifth wheel across the street. Then to top it all off, our sewer connection is UPHILL from us. Spent 20 minutes in 95 degree heat trying to elevate my sewer hose so that I could empty my tanks before I finally gave up. Also, there's no wifi and no cable. There are strict parking rules, too. Can't be on the grass and you can't be over the white line. I'm surprised that there isn't a daily site inspection. They have a serious attitude about dogs with multiple signs posted that all dogs must be on leash, stringent rules about where your dog can do his business and 2 posted signs/articles in laundry room lecturing you on picking up dog poop. I've stayed at many RV parks, military and commercial, and have never seen this degree of paranoia. The funny part is that they don't even provide any poop bags anywhere I could see. The bathrooms have not been upgraded and there's no way my feet would touch the floor of those showers. I don't require fancy digs but I do expect things to at least appear clean and in good repair. It would be cheap to at least re-grout the showers. Next time I'm in the area I will be happy to pay more and stay where there are better amenities. R.L. left this review using the Directory software: - Still a real nice FamCamp March 13-16, 20122 of 2 people found the following review helpful
W.J. left this review using the Directory software: - We had a great stay even with the wild weather. This was our 3rd stay and we plan to stop again. The Camp Hosts are great. Linda and Terry helped us get parked and up to date on the storms passing through. They had just opened up the first 10 sites after electrical upgrade so all sites are available again. We LOVE Tinker AFB FamCamp in Oklahoma City. OK City is a place we return to every few years because attractions, restaurants and theaters are close by and it's an extremely nice FamCamp. The couple who manages the park obviously like what they do because they take pride in keeping the place neat and clean for guests. There is a small fishing pond on the property, it looks like newly planted trees along the edge of the pond, very clean restrooms and laundry facilities. The spaces are a bit close together but we never mind since we are always out exploring the area. October 20100 of 0 people found the following review helpful
D.S. left this review using the Directory software: RV's are much too close, RV gate and Main South Gate were a mess, guards were not sure how to route back to I-40. May 20111 of 2 people found the following review helpful
We are currently at this campground as I write this; Will not stay here again. The host is very stringent and too much like a drill sergeant for our tastes. NO wi-fi, NO cable. 3 washers and 3 dryers, good price for them. You cannot allow your dogs to go potty near your own RV but must walk them outside of the park to go potty so as not offend any neighbors. The spaces are CRAMPED and some spaces require extension cords for electric hook-ups and I saw one who couldn't even hook up his sewer hose. Pretty park but just tooooo UNCOMFORTABLE unless you are a sardine in basic training. April 20111 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Back again for 3 nights as a shakedown trip for this year. Great campground, great folks as host...hostess...Overall a great 4 day visit. Only downside is the cramped sites, but folks around us were easy to get to move vehicles so we could get in and out. 22-26 Nov, 15-19 Dec 20100 of 0 people found the following review helpful
J.A. left this review using the Directory software: Excellent campground, bit difficult backing into space, as vehicles must park on edge of right of way. On both occasions had to ask person parked to right of our site to move vehicle while we pulled out. Good working dryer an washers and very clean showers. The camp host is a bull dog and oversees his responsibility well, closely observers camp site going on. Unable to use water and sewer as temps hung on 10 degrees and wind gust got to 40+ miles hour. Will be using Tinker in May 2011 as our launch site for Alaska. Nov. 23 to Nov. 25, 20102 of 3 people found the following review helpful
A nice surprise that we could use this campground with a 45' motorhome and we got site 19 the first one on the left upon entry and no difficulty getting in or out of the site. Only reason facilities was not rated a 5 was because the water connection to the site was supposed to have been repaired the day before we arrived and the host was surprised when we told him we had very little water pressure. He immediately had someone there to repair but it was not repairable the day before Turkey Day! We were fortunate enough to have enough hoses with us and used the site behind us facing the water for our water supply. The BX was new as of Sept. this year and it was just a pleasure to find our way around in it. A new concept they are now using for newly built BX's and aisles were easier to get around in also. Overall a good place to stay for a few days if you are in the area. October 9 & 10, 20100 of 0 people found the following review helpful
A great Famcamp. We have used 3 in our 3 week trip and enjoyed Tinker as much or more than the other 2. The sites are a little snug to back into but really had no problems. All concrete pads, great bathhouse and laundry,,,AND,,,,FREE ICE IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM. We will be back to Tinker in the future for sure. All sites are level and utilities are good. There are no trees for shade and there isn't much room between sites. POVs have to be parallel parked between rigs next to the road which henders getting into a site if you have a larger RV. All rigs need to come thru the commercial gate on the south side of the base otherwise you may not fit thru the barriers at other gates. There is a huge mall just out the north gate and I-40 is easily accessed there. Ditto on the previous reviewers comments on the camp hosts. This FamCamp is a great place to stay. Can't say anything bad about it. OKC has a lot of things to see and do and this is a great place to stay while doing them. Nice grounds for walking and picnicking, fishing and enjoying the sunset. Hosts are topnotch!! We have truly enjoyed our stay here and will return. 22-24 October, 20091 of 1 people found the following review helpful
Oklahoma City area. Excellent campground, with full hookups & WIFI (in & out). 3.5 miles of paved bike trails. Tinker had all base facilities available with good bargains at the BX. The campground had clean and well stocked bathrooms, three sets of washers & dryers, an ice machine and book exchange. An absolute must stop while here is the location for the Oklahoma City bombing, an emotional experience and well worth the time to go see. We would definitely stay here again if in the area. 11 - 17 Oct 20094 of 4 people found the following review helpful
Great Fam Camp. Although it is small in size, the hosts make every effort to keep everything in top condition and their efforts are commendable. There is no club house to gather in and all sites are back in (and the first row is very tight). The WIFI is slow and sometimes spotty. Our own air card was much faster so we just used it. Retirees can eat in the dining facility on Fridays and holidays. The club has free food on Friday nights for club card members, (just wings and shrimp with a relish tray when we were there). But there is plenty. The truck gate is where RV's must enter, and during the week it can be a bit of a long line waiting for inspections. (RV's are NOT inspected, but must pass thru the same gate so you have to wait in line like the big rigs). Laundry and showers were nice and clean. Three washers and dryes are kept very busy, but their costs are reasonable. I understand that there are plans to add either some pull thru's or put in elect for the overflow area, but nothing firm. Park is very clean and well groomed. Spaces are difficult to back into unless you are experienced RVer. While the park itself was exceptional, found the manager to be on the rude side. My wife had to listen to a lengthy lecture about us parking a quarter inch over a white line. Upset her so much, that we left promptly. Great park, but manager could use some sensitivity training. Bill and Sharon are the Best. Stayed for 10 days while going to school. The campground was full on arrival had to park in overflow for one night. Stayed full for the 10 days we were there, people in overflow almost everyday. Do wish the sites had a little more room, neighbors are close, but all were friendly. Had to run to the bathhouse for a tornado warning with alot of others, 15-20 minutes and all passed and no tornado. We have a 38 foot MH and had no problem parking. Will stay here again in our travels. May 20-May303 of 3 people found the following review helpful
Back again and Bill and Sharon are still the best!! $.50 washers and $.50 dryers that get clothes DRY first time are a real plus. WiFi isn't available at all sites but works great vicinity laundry room. The proximity to I40 and I240 make it an ideal RON while the convenience of the exchange and commissary are great. No Diesel on post, but service station next to famcamp. |
