Directions

Directions From the town of Fallon, go South on US-95 to NV-118 (Wildes road, but on maps as Wood Dr.) There are barriers at the front gate. If you don't have a current decal on you vehicle, you must go into pass & ID outside the main gate and get a temporary pass for you vehicle. Then proceed to the South Gate. No RV's allowed through the main gate. You will need to go to South Gate and if it is closed you will need to call the phone number listed on a sign. Do not turn onto the road that goes to the front gate, you will get stuck in a very small place to try to turn around. Just pass the front gate road and follow the fence line around to the other gate. Once on base, go past the gas station and look for Bldg. 393 - the equipment rental office. This is also the RV Park check in. However, there may not be room for your RV here. Continue to the end of the street and turn right onto Bonanza Rd. The RV Park is a short distance on your left. Park you RV by the laundry building and return to Bldg 393 to check-in. They will assign you a site number.

OK place, a little overpriced $25.00. The weeds were pretty bad in the rv park. WIFI good, Laundry good, Overall an OK place to stay over nite. We could not get thru the main gate with a rv had to use the far gate about 2 miles away. If you need a sticker for the windshield you need to go to the bldg. outside of the main gate before entering the base. (There is a small parking no place to park a rv).

Fallon may be out there but alot on a little base-movie theater across the street..bowling lanes down the street with very nice community center and book exchange. We have been there when quiet(no squadrons)and enjoy the 'flight practice maneuvers' and very pleasant experience to eat at chow hall. New machines in laundry room so not free any more and the machines aren't upgraded either. Like the concrete pads and rock but be aware every dog has issues walking on the hard rock. Always a good stop going to/from California.

The town of Fallon is 15 minutes from Base and is fairly large with most any retail you need. The Base has some real perks including free 1st run movies (theater is 5 minute walk from the RV), you are welcome to use the chow hall (galley) at $4.55 per person for lunch and dinner, nice laundry at $1 per load. There was no training during our visit so jet noise was minimal. The only negative is that most attractions are about an hour to 1 1/2 hours away such as Virginia City, Carson City and Reno. Sites are concrete pads with gravel surrounding them. They are 50 amp with excellent cable and the best wifi we have ever had. Verizon cell worked very well. We would stay here again if in the area.

i have stayed here in the past and enjoyed the base and the campground. raising the price by almost double really takes away from the experience as there isn't much here. the theater is pretty cool and just installed 3-D, the park has the very best wi fi i have ever seen, the base swimming pool is pretty good. but poor old fallon nevada is just not much more than a wide spot on hwy. 50. then the wind started to blow, it blew for days getting up into the 65 mph range, it was damaging my pop up so i ran over to the exchange to see about renting a room at the navy lodge. the Filipino woman in charge said they were all full, but whoever rented all of them must have been in town gambling as they ever did have any cars parked in front of them. all in all i think we will be passing on fallon in the future. it just ain't worth the price to us anymore.

I stayed here May 30-31. I was shocked that the daily rate had increased from $15.00 to $25.00. I was told that the rates and all the paperwork comes from San Diego. This made the checkin process slow waiting on the computer. I didn't inquire about the weekly or monthly rates. There are no AT&T cell phone towers in the Fallon area. Internet service was excellent. Office opens at 0730 so I turned my keys in at 0830. I saw two employees sitting in the lounge drinking coffee (hopefully the rate increase will cover their salary).

The monthly rate is $360. The free movie theater across the street from the rv park, and the free 70+ cable tv and free wifi at the park makes up for being way out here in the middle of nowhere. I was sad to learn that the other great thing about this park, the free washers and dryers, are no more. They died last summer and were replaced with pay-type commercial ones. They aren't the tiny ones you find in private rv parks, they are pretty big for that type, and at $1.00 each, a deal considering what could have been put in. I love watching the jets take off, especially at night when you can see the flames coming out the tail - a great air show every day! This is not a "destination resort", you have to want to come here, but it's a nice place to hang out while my husband and I wait for Yuma AZ to cool down to livable winter temperatures.

what a freaky little gem out in the desert. the navy calls it the aircraft carrier out in the desert. its a very small naval air station, home to top gun i hear. has a really nice swimming pool with a giant water slide -- FREE, i went to the base theater twice -- FREE. and guess what ? the mess hall has some of the very best food i have ever eaten. i was really surprised as most don't have food this good.

L.C. left this review using the Directory software: Stayed a week and a day. No trees in park so Satellite worked well. Lots of channels on the free cable. No picnic tables at any sites. A couple picnic tables on slabs near bath/laundry house. Rest rooms were clean. Quiet park except for a few planes flying during the week. The Price of Freedom!

We were unable to stay here as we were told that there was no space available so decided to stay elsewhere. We did ride by and take a look at the camp and area. We saw at least eight open RV sites when we drove by. The sites are concrete paved sites and look level, they have 30/50 amp, water, sewer and Cable. Bathrooms were locked so didn't get a chance to look inside, but from the appearance of the area around the camp and the baths/laundry, I would say all was quite clean and taken care of. There are NO Trees or bushes or grass around the area, no picnic tables or grills. Basically if you don't bring it with you then you won't have it. The FamCamp is located right next to the airstrip and is really loud during flight ops. The base is about four miles from the town of Fallon in the middle of nowhere. It has a decent commisary and small exchange that is fairly well stocked. There is a Navy Federal Credit Union on base. I am glad they told us they did not have sites available as I would prefer not using this FamCamp unless I really have to. This is not a FamCamp that I would go out of my way to stay and will take a different route to avoid.

C.T. left this review using the Directory software: This is a nice small campground with big spaces, good wifi, cell phone and air card service. The facilities look new. The commissary is closed on Sunday and Monday. You will probably need to make reservations or call before you come to make sure they have space.

We are at Fallon NAS as I type. $15 per day, or $90 per week. Large concrete pads, all are pull through. 50 amp FHU, cable TV with a tremendous number of channels. Free laundry (need a key from MWR or camp host, drop key in lock box before departure). Three working high speed wifi connections available. Verizon air card and cell phone reception is good. Great deal for a famcamp.

We stayed here for one night. We had read that the park was accessible from the main gate; however, when we got up near the entrance to the base there was a sign directing RVs to the south gate. We went and it was closed. A call to the number on the gate brought one of the security people to let us in. He told us that we COULD have gone through the main gate and that the sign was incorrect. When we arrived at the park, the check-in office was closed but the camp host was out and he helped with check-in (FYI, the rate is now $15). He told us that the base movie house is free but we did not go to verify. No WiFi available, even in the laundry room (the router was not set up - maybe a temporary thing?) Otherwise, it was a great place to stay; lots of vacancies.

We stopped by for only 1 night, but wished we could have stayed a week or two. VERY relaxing there. This campground is only a couple years old and still looks new. Staff was friendly and helpful, campground was very clean, showers and bathrooms were very clean and the price is perfect! Cable TV is now available at all of the sites. WiFi is available at the laundry room (tables outside to sit at) and they are working to get the WiFi signal at the sites. Unfortunately, higher HQ is forcing them to raise the rates once WiFi is operational at the sites. Hopefully, they will remain good. Military Campgrounds are a BENEFIT and the pricing should reflect this, as it does here. Fallon NAS is sort of away from everything. If in this area, we'll be back for sure!

You no longer have to use the back gate to get into the base. WIFI is available but I understand that you have to go over to the laundry to get it. We have Verizon air card so don't use WIFI unless it is readily available in the rig. I only rated as it won't let me post unless I do, as I believe ratings are very subjective. What is 5 stars to you might only be one to me.

As stated before, this is in the middle of nowhere. However it is only 6 miles to town and some decent shopping. The park is a field filled with crushed rock. Each site is a nice level concrete pad with w/s/e hookup. There is an area near the bath house that has a picnic table and two double grills. Laundry is free and all machines were work well. The laundry room and bathroom were very clean. This time of year, not many people here. At $77 a week, it is a good deal. People at checkin were friendly and helpful. At check in, you are given keys to the bath facilities and laundry room. There is a drop box in the laundry room to leave the keys when you leave the park. Noise level was not that bad. A few flights, but not that many. It is a park I would stay at again if I were in the area. Again, no one flying the colors. I think it is sad that we don't see that more at military campgrounds. Verizon wireless not perfect, but worked well most of the time. Same for wireless broadband for computer. It does get cold here overnight. The surrounding mountains are some of the best I have seen. Mostly snow capped right now. Very beautiful.

We called before the office closed, but arrived after the staff had gone home for the day. Unfortunately the showers/laundry don't use a cipher lock, but require a key instead and the person I talked to didn't reveal that fact so we had to trouble our fellow campers to borrow a key when we needed to use the bathroom or shower. NAS Fallon is out in the boonies, but the personnel were friendly and helpful--we had another person along who we put up in the Navy Lodge.
