Very enjoyable time here, this is a well managed facility with great guests also! The "Regulars" here are quite social and very helpful with most anything you need. Did a little fishing and caught some nice bass, even though fishing was reported as slow! I will stay here again, hopefully have a little more time to stay and enjoy. Mike and Dennis do an awesome job of managing this place, wish all military famcamps were this well managed.

Twas a mere fluke I ended up at Lake Martinez FamCamp, but I must say this place fits the bill if you're looking for 'isolated'. I pulled in on a Sunday looking to bunk in for a few days, and stayed 2 weeks. The morning 'staff meetings' at the fire pit was a refreshing treat from so many camps where there's not a lot of socializing done. You want some downtime away from the hubbub and bustle? This is your camp. The staff (Mike and Dennis) are among the more gracious people I've known in almost 50 years of living, very open to talk about their site, the lake and what's to do around the area. They're very knowledgeable re who's who and where to go for what in the area. The [Camp Fixit Dood] (Mike) rocks, you got something needs tweaked or need to borrow a tool, he's Johnny on the spot for you. All they need is a coffee pot and I might have Wintered over there! And make it a point to drive out to the mine while you're here, the scenery is awesome!

The wife and I spent the week here and although it was in the 100's the first two days, the A/C makes the difference. Fish in the morning, veg out in the heat of the day and more fishing in the evening. The blue gill were biting and Vi landed a 4lb. catfish. No bass this time, but saw a couple 5 pounders that were caught from the shore. Even though it's isolated and doesn't have all the amenities, it's only 3 miles from Fisher's Camp where they DO have the amenities (store, bar, restaurant, fishing tackle shop). Dennis, Mike #1 & Mike#2 were the best staff you could get. Always helpful! Cabins # 9 & 10 are the size of a small apt. with patio decks facing the lake, full kitchen & dining area, bath, shower, two bedrooms and the all important, aforementioned A/C!!!!! For the price, you can't beat it ANYWHERE! Unless, someone's found another gem like this that I haven't been to yet! We plan to return in late fall after the heats off! Al & Vi Kirkpatrick

N. L. left this review using the Directory software: If you are looking for a campground with all the amenities, DON'T come here. The nearest town is Yuma and that is 35 miles from the campground. No laundry. No sewer. No wi-fi. No cable. No stores. No restaurants. However, if you want quiet and great scenery, then this is the place. At only $12 a night it is well worth the drive. They do have a shower house with a men's side and women's side. Each has one shower and two toilets. They also have a pool table and vending machines as well as free ice. The thing I love the most is NO trains and NO highways, just the sound of birds. Be sure to bring your satellite and you will be all set. Enjoy the camaraderie with the fellow campers and the beautiful scenery. Would stay again if in the area. I'm not checking Big Rig Friendly because it isn't really friendly, it's more of a challenge!

We stayed at Lake Martinez for three weeks in February '08. If you are looking for ice cream socials and shuffle board you will not find it here. If you want quiet camping and great fishing with quail and bobcats wandering through camp and coyotes singing at night then you have found the right place. Yes, it's isolated and about a 25 minute drive to the commissary/gas station/cafe/laundry at Yuma proving ground. No, that wasn't a problem for us, if it would be for you, don't camp there. Yes, some of the spaces are a little small. Some of them, read space #17 especially, are primo but you need to check with reservations to see what's available. No, there are no sewer hookups but there is a dump at Fisher's Landing about 2 miles down the road. Overall, I thought it was outstanding, the wife, not so much. We will be back next winter.

We stopped by to take a look and get updated information for the website, but didn't spend the night. Dennis, the assistant manager was very friendly and helpful. As previously mentioned, this is an older campground with smaller camp sites that are close together. There are a few larger sites for 40' RV's, and a few that are real nice, large, and private. Our impression was this is a nice recreation area, not neccessarily a destination RV Park. Most people we talked to were there for the fishing, which they say is great! They were catching bass in a short time, directly from the dock! You can rent a 10hp fishing boat for $20 a day. If you want a relaxing place to camp, fish, and explore the lake, this is the best deal in this part of the country.

Great location north of Yuma, located in a small Marina on lake Martinez --- The RV sites were developed for much older and smaller RV's -- If you have anything with slideouts you will not only fill but create an obstacle for your neighbors -- Sites are back-in and seem to be the entertainment for the day when a new arrival pulls in -- We enjoyed the area but left two days early due to the very small sites -- When we exited our fifth wheel we had to bery careful not to run into our neighbors slideout
