This is one of the nicest military RV Parks we have stayed in. Manager was very friendly and helpful. WIFI worked great. Convenient to the commissary and BX. We've stayed here several times and have never had a bad experience. We'll definitely be back. They even have an ice machine next to the laundry.

Great campground in a great location! The staff is awesome and we really enjoyed our two weeks there. The sites are very easy to get into with no issues and a good amount of space between you and your neighbor. Location is excellent with a ton of activities in the Tucson area including Saguaro National Park, Titan missile museum, Pima air and space museum, Tombstone, Bisbee, etc. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the base is in great shape with a nice PX, Comissary and Golf Course. All in All just a fantastic campground, the only improvements I recommend are, a playground in the campground would be nice and fix the WiFi.

We had a wonderful visit except the bathrooms are not that clean at all! - the cleaning lady spends more time on phone or walking thru the laundry room than cleaning. We watched a coffee stain for three weeks than when told she cleaned half and didn't move the bench to finish. (soap scum on tile/chrome and watch her use a water spray bottle to clean the toilets). There was also two dogs in camp being "trained" with shock collars so the dogs thought every other dog was 'shocking' them- they went after our dog and attacked another dog. All the manager did was move them to other side and every other dog was afraid of them. So watch out for two huskies next winter!! Otherwise great campground/recycling available and facilities on base and sight-seeing stuff and programs available.

We arrived Sunday evening and did a self check-in by choosing a site available on the list at the office. Monday morning we checked in at the office and paid for 2 nights. It took extra long because the gentleman was working with a new program that had just gotten installed a week ago. Once that was completed he briefed and gave us lots of information about the surrounding area. If it hadn't been so hot we would have stayed longer.

Great layout and very clean. Great Dog Walk area, other then the aircraft (which to me is not a problem) OUTSTANDING park. But then it is an Air Force Base. Would highly recommend the Pima Air & Space Museum.

This is it!!! What all FamCamps should look like - beautifully planned, expertly managed. Priced very reasonably. About 95% of the commercial campgrounds that I have stayed in are not this nice for about twice the price. Holloman AFB charges $20.00 for a disgrace. Somehow, the bases have to get together and learn from Davis-Monthan. 'Nuff said!

OK, this is one of the best examples of what a FAMCAMP should be, no doubt about it. The base is great, facilities great, Tucson great, and they had an air show while we were there. What more could one ask. If there was anything that irritated me was when we were leaving, I was disconnecting the electrical plug and the door to the panel fell down an cut my arm. It wouldn't stay up no matter how I maneuvered it. Apart from that, we would stay there again. The gal at the counter was very helpful and friendly. The WiFi was OK but best at night.

Superlative in almost every category. If planning to stay beyond 21 days, be sure to state your intentions by 1500 (3PM) the day BEFORE you're due out. Be advised the pecking order to remain in full hookup when there are fewer spaces to be vacated than campers who wish to stay is determined when you show up the morning you're due out! When our 21 days were up we notified the office we wanted to stay, and the next morning I was the second camper to go to the office, and that was at 0545 (5:45 AM)! By the time the staff arrived there were about 20 campers in the lobby. There were about 11 spaces opening, and five dry campers waiting for full hookup, leaving just SIX for campers already hooked up, wishing to stay longer. Since I was the SECOND person to go to the office, we were able to stay. This may seem complicated, but it is absolutely fair, honest, and the staff and all the campers I saw fully supported this! Only slight improvement I could envision might be to make a further improvement in the wifi system. The office has a couple ethernet connections that are super hi speed, but the wifi does get slowed to a crawl quite a few times. Our Verizon card worked fairly well, although Tucson is a very 'busy' city connection wise. Would absolutely, positively recommend this excellent RV park. BTW the base lodging is also extremely helpful and accommodating to those who might have guests visiting and need a place to stay. Space A time varies from as few as three days in advance to as many as 90 days. Keep trying if they're full, they often get cancellations, and willingly will assist you in getting rooms. Other facilities are top drawer - clubs, BX, Commissary, fitness center, etc.

We love staying at Agave Gulch. There is a reason why it has been number one for five years running. The staff is absolutely the best ever - extremely nice, very helpful, tons of information, make you feel welcome. The campground is top notch and getting better. Since our last visit they have opened part of the overflow sites as full hookup sites and are in the process of adding more. We had to use overflow for only two nights before we were able to move into full hookups. They have a marvelous procedure for moving campers into full hookups on a first come basis as they open up. Very fair and consistent. All of our neighbors were wonderful.

On a Saturday arrival, after hours, we had 6 or 7 pull through and 2 back in sites available, so no overflow this trip. The only complaints I have are the slowness of the Wi-Fi and lack of a community/family room. The DSL and dialup connections in the office are nice but not always convenient. The fastest WiFi that I found was at the community center. The FamCamp should have those people over to overhaul their WiFi. An automated pet wash has been added, 10 minutes for $5 which is much appreciated. The maintenance and cleanliness of the campground is a model for other Famcamps.

Must admit I loved the place. Spent 7 weeks in this park and had a fabulous time. My only nit is the wireless is pretty useless and should be fixed or stop claiming they have it. I ended up using an air card almost the entire time. It's true you could go to the office and hookup ... doesn't count. Still rated the amenities/facilities highly because Agave Gulch FamCamp is so highly maintained and the genuine care taken by the staff shows. Thank you for doing right by our veterans!

Very friendly place. There are people out walking and stopping to talk all the time. The scheduled trips and activities are fun and Linda is a wonderful facilitator. Everything is clean and pretty. It is a walk to the commissary and BX but there are several routes, some through base housing. Outside the main gate is one of Tucson's main paved bike paths that goes all the way downtown. The best part is the friendly feel at the campground, unlike some other places we've stayed. There is a long dog walking path along the base fence line and clean-up bags are provided, so lots of dog owners stay here. Never had any problem with noise or dogs barking. The wifi is very slow, only works well in the middle of the night. We ended up getting a Verizon hotspot for better internet access. You need a satellite dish to watch TV in your rig. We loved it here though. Will return. Having an ice machine was great, used it everyday for an iced latte.

Truly the BEST FamCamp in the West. The WiFi system is weak and overloaded; needs update. Cable TV would be a great improvement, if only in limited spots and an increased fee. We have stayed at this FamCamp many times and it is hard to beat.

Sleeping was difficult because of all the noise. There is a dog close by that was barking throughout the night. Nearby traffic was loud, and we could hear police sirens a few times a night. The wifi was extremely slow and was not accessible inside the RV. There is no cable TV. Inside the common area the TV only has local channels. So if you wish to watch your favorite football team play football on ESPN, you won't be able to. The common area does not have comfortable seating so TV watching was not enjoyable. There is no public transportation on base, so it is a long walk to access transportation. Worst of all, the base is not pedestrian friendly. Long distances to amenities. On the walk to the exchange, there were many sections without sidewalks. Now that I have discussed all the horrible aspects of this location, I will take a moment to rave about the campground. The bathrooms were fantastic, clean, warm, and there were an adequate number of bathroom stalls and showers. The highlight of my stay was my social interactions, with other visitors and camp hosts. Overall I enjoyed my stay, but I wish their common area would improve.

New washers and dryers are being installed this week, so the laundry is closed. Never could login to wifi. Would be nice to have handicapped shower (with seat) available. Nice facility and very friendly staff. Crowds should start showing in the next couple of weeks. Potluck Thanksgiving meal is being planned.

Agave-Gultch Famcamp on Davis-Monthan AFB is adjacent to the Wilmot Gate ( open M-Fl, 0530-1830 and closed S/S and Holidays ) and the “boneyard” ( old plane storage ). We came in the Craycroft gate as it is always open. The famcamp sites are gravel, some with shade trees, and offers free intermittent wi-fi and patio with picnic table and low water pressure ( so low our ice maker wouldn’t work ). We camped in early October so there were no real famcamp activities. They do have a dog wash ( $5.00 for 10 minutes ) and an off leash and fenced dog area but we found the grassy perimeter w/ provided “doggy bags” ideal for our two travel companions ( fewer goatheads to “bite” them than other western (AZ/NM)military parks. They have an adequate laundry ( approx 8 washers & dryers ) at the famcamp so could be crowded during full season and a free ice machine behind the laundry. All the usual base amenities are in place including a nice golf course ( senior walk rate $13.00 – goes up on 1 Nov to 18.00 to walk and again on 1 Dec to possibly 25.00). Retirees have a “league” that plays M,T & Th and once the famcamp gets organized we’re told there is a camper golf league on Wednesday. If you need RV maintenance we had great service from Ken Cameron of Cameron’s Reliable (520-490-7632 ). The park offers a 6 month section but you must pay the entire amount ($3600.00) up front to camp there. Not sure if there’s a rebate even if you have a real emergency and must leave. Retiree can eat in the dining hall on select holidays- MacDill allows all days/meals in the gally. It is a typical USAF famcamp – no reservations taken and first come first serve – so if in the area and if we could get in we’d stay here again.

Stayed for five nights. Check-in was very easy. We were given a large collection of handouts for the base and local area. Hosts were outstanding! Great park with mostly pull-trough's. Sites are fairly close together but workable. There are some back-ins which are used for the monthly's. Monthly rate: Twenty-six sites in the Horseshoe area are available for $3660, payable upon check-in. No reservations. Guests can stay no more that 21 days at the park before beginning their 6-month stay. After the 6-months (183 days) you must leave the park for for a minimum of 24 hours. WiFi was up and down while we were there. No diesel fuel at gas station but the Firestone Care Car Center is outstanding.
