We stayed here 3 nights and have one major warning for anyone using GPS to get to the campground. In a word, DON'T. Use the directions listed on this site or in the book. We were coming from the east and GPS took us all over the place. We'd have been much better off taking Exit 7 (Blue Angel Parkway, although it isn't listed as such on the signs) which takes you right to the gate you want. Also, unless you get very lucky, you can forget about getting a satellite signal. There is cable TV available, but if you are used to using a DVR to record programs, you'll really miss your dish. Right now the beach is closed due to the oil spill--you can see small tar balls in the water. (Our rating does NOT reflect this as it's beyond the park's control, obviously.) Power was weak, even though the park was only about half full. This is a nice park, but it's 18 miles from the Interstate, so maybe not the best for an overnight. However, the camp host was pleasant as was the MWR staff. However, there is no information provided about the area, not even a base map, which would have been nice. We didn't use the Exchange or Commissary, so can't comment. Luckily we didn't need to use the laundry because it could have been a real hassle.

Over priced mediocre. Sites are small and close together. You need to get a key from the office to use the laundry facilities. Location is great and base has everything you would need for an extended stay. Record keeping and reservation system outdated. Kept with pencil and paper, in this day and age?!?! Space we were assigned was occupied so we were assigned another space. Tried to extend a couple of days but was told the park was full even though there were over ten sites empty when we left. I am not sure the left hand knows what the right is doing.

This was our fourth time here. And as always had a great time. One of the best ran campground we have been to. Great staff and friendly campers.
Great location with plenty to do. One thing i would like changed is the rig wash policy. You can only wash with water, no soap. It would be helpful if they would approve some "GREEN" products that could be used. There is a wash area about a mile down the road that you can use if you want to move your rig. Price for camping on the beach is very very reasonable. Will be coming back.

First visit here. Liked the location because it was walking distance to the Naval Museum and light house. It is a little of a walk but hey, we needed the exercise anyway. There was no store to purchase anything but we stocked up before arrival. Very clean restrooms. Ground keeping was very good. Went to the Blue Angels practice the day prior to our arrival then got to see them from the campground. Loved it. Walking trail was very nice. A little over priced but still lower than commercial sites.

Arrived without reservations and they only had 1 site left for the few days we wanted to stay - a "Premium" waterfront site. Enjoyed our stay while we visited with friends and the other military campgrounds in the area. A tad overpriced, considering wifi isn't included (and is expensive).

This was a very nice park in a great location. We had one of the waterfront locations but any of the sites would have been fine. Very close to the Naval Aviation Museum which is a must see. Only two complaints: - There's no wi-fi unless you pay for it and $7.95 per day is outrageous. - Although you're not supposed to be able to, the campground allows individuals to reserve specific sites. This meant that we had to move our rig for the final night since we were told our site had been reserved by another - even though other waterfront sites were available. But, of course, these other individuals did not come on the day assigned and so we were forced to move for no reason.

Great location for beach combing, Naval Air Museum, etc. As mentioned by others the camp hosts are very friendly and up beat. While we were there a pot luck and very good entertainment was offered free on Sat. night at the club house. I was really impressed by the beach as dogs are welcomed to run free as long as well behaved and clean up after them. This was great for dog owners as most all the beaches other places do not allow dogs. Good idea to call ahead for reservations as this is a popular campground. A good size cleaning staff keep the laundry and bathroom facilities spotless and good deal on the washers/dryers (50 cents to wash and 25 cents to dry). Close enough to spend a nice day out at the Gulf Islands national seashore. Bring your bike as there is a great paved level bike path for quite a distance along the seashore.

Great Park, the Host is outstanding. I think you get better customer service from her, than you do from the regular paid staff. Nice quiet park. Had one of the premium sites, great location. Nice paved sites. Will stay again if in area.

My family and I stayed here for Labor Day weekend. As mentioned by everyone else, the campground host was truly amazing. The campground is very clean and well maintained. The beach is nice and just a short walk from the campground. You have to use a boardwalk to clear the sand dunes, so don't bring a big beach cart or you'll be dragging it up and down the stairs. There was an unforecasted storm that hit in the middle of the night that ripped my awning off my camper (along with 7 others), but over all a great experience. The cable is some of the best I have ever seen. If you have a big rig, pay very close attention to some of the low branches as you drive under the trees. I witnessed a big 5th wheel knock off his satellite and damage his A/C. We will be back to this fine campground.
March 29 to April 1, 2009
I took my 7 and 4 year old daughters here and stayed in a tent. The beach was great though the weather was rainy and windy. We saw the Blue Angels practice on Tuesday morning (bring a chair they draw a crowd) and visited the Air Museum. Bathroom and laundry facility were spotless. Check in and out was smooth. We would certainly return for these reasons and for all the other activities and amenities described in the posts below!

Best park we stayed at this trip. So much to do on base. Near the beach and a great museum. Facilities were very clean, and the camp host was the most helpful I have seen anywhere. We arrived after 10:00 p.m., but he came out, and me back into my sight. Kids loved the beach, as we stayed there all day. Would definitely go to this park again.
June 19 - June 22, 2009
We are tent campers and loved this campground. There was plenty of shade, the bath-houses were spotless, and you walk right down to the beach. The most memorable experience was watching the dolphins feed 30 yards off-shore. This is a fantastic place to camp.
April 14 through April 26, 2009
The only negative comment I have about our stay at Oak Grove Park is we should have stayed longer. We loved it! The park nestles in the shade of many trees with large open sites for hookups. The showers, and the bathrooms were kept spotless. In fact it seems that someone was always picking up, raking, and tidying up around there all the time. It's a short walk to the beach which was for the most part during our stay, almost totally deserted. The "Amazing" Museum of Naval Aviation is within walking distance from the camp (for someone who doesn't mind a little exercise). This museum is entirely inside an environmental facility that begs description (you simply must see and experience it)and admission is free. There are well groomed walking/jogging trails that run for miles right in the park. You must travel about 15 minutes to get to the commissary and exchange at Cory Station, but those facilities are more than adequate for anything a camper would need and more. There is a food mall just down the road from the park where you can buy several types of fast foods and eat in a pleasant atmosphere. Right down the road is the Old Fort Barrancas maintained just as it was during the 1800's. This is also the home of the Blue Angels and a free performance can be watched from bleachers with an ongoing narration of all the manuvers. All and all a wonderful experience and a must to return to.

This is our second stay at this FamCamp. The location is great because of the easy access to the wonderful beach. I was surprised when talking to a fellow camper further down the road. He was under the impression that the CG was just across from the Naval Air Museum. That may have been the "old" place, but the one I stayed at is about 1/4 mile towards the gate. There is access on a dirt road across from the museum, but do not use it, instead use the entrance closer to the gate. The crew keeps the grounds clean. They even have personnel trying to keep the Oak leaves cleaned up with leaf blowers. Talk about job security! The park manager and check-in personnel are friendly. On-base amenities are abundant. We will return here again. We stayed in a MH.
March 16 to 30th 2009
We stayed in site 49 on the water front. This is a great camp ground. WMR personnel where very friendly and helpful. The naval base is great and very well kept. I will stay there again.

Beautiful,beautiful,beautiful....this park is fun for the entire family...a short walk to a lighthouse, marina or a short walk across the street to the gas station/store..and a mile down the street a free museum about navel airplanes the day we were there the blue angels were signing autographs the beach was empty of people in skimpy attire just right for families..more modest wear....just a short note come prepared or bring a car to get around in as there is no place in walking distance to get milk or bread. We didn't bring a tow car and was stranded..but did get lots of walking exercise... washers and dryers 50 cents to wash and 25 cents to dry is well worth it bring your own soap and dryer sheets.... the key thing is weird but it keeps the laundry room clean and uncrowded....all in all I would live there if I could..it is wonderful....can't ask for a better group of camp hosts and personal anytime we were out they were willing to answer all questions on flora and fauna..I just cant say enough good about this place...cant wait for spring break next year.....word of warning this camp was packed most of the week we were there...I would call ahead and make reservations...
Feb 28 - Mar 14, 2009
What a nice campground! It is close to the beautiful beach with crystal white sand and emerald waters ... restrooms/showers are immaculate, although the morning cleaning time is a bit inconvenient to those of us who enjoy sleeping in since retirement ... staff and camp host are most friendly and very helpful. Location makes travel very easy ... close to major highways. The major NEX and Commissary are a ways from the campground, but are very adequate. WalMart is close, so quick shopping is possible. We would definitely stay here again.
February 25-March 4, 2009
We enjoyed our stay here very much. The campground is only a few yards from a sugar white beach and not far from the Pensacola Lighthouse and National Museum of Naval Aviation where we spent three days. We would definitely return. Hookups all worked well. Had to change sites mid-week but ended up with a nicer site. Only negatives - bit pricey, the roads are rocky and uncomfortable for walking, and the clubhouse stinks - most unpleasant. Campground staff were friendly.
22-29 Jan 09
My wife and I love it here. We are thinking about making this Campground our winter home. We have never stayed anywhere that is so beautiful. They have a great gym, walking paths, bike riding, site seeing, and more. Yes it cost a little more here, but you get what you pay for. Wifi cost $7.00 a night, 14.00 a week, or 31.00 month, but the wifi works great. Still cheaper than most monthly service providers. Washers are only .50 cents. You can stay 3 months, and then you have to leave for two weeks. Great camp hosts to boot.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of spending a few days at this facility and enjoyed it very much. However, IMHO there are a few things that could be done to make this an even better place. (1) Pave the roads within the park. For the money this park makes and charges paved roads would not be too much to expect; (2) The laundry is now available by obtaining a key from the staff and can only be signed out for a two hour limit and no laundry is to be started after 7PM or before 9PM. The laundry is well removed from the nearest camper and noise is not a problem. Why the key and time restrictions? Much more noise is generated by the nearby highway traffic early in the morning.; (3) The price! $23.00..I personally think this is out of line for a military facility since we stayed in FHU Mississippi State Parks for $14.00 offering much more individual space and more amenities. This was the highest price we paid in our last 2000 mile trip staying at COE and State Park facilities. It does have its' high points, proximity to attractions, the Air Museum, Blue Angel airshows to name a few and not to mention a terrific staff.
