It may be a parking lot, but it is a nice parking lot. Convenient to Astoria, Lewis and Clark National/State Parks and Seaside, OR. The post exchange is very small but adequate for emergency items. Took a trip to Tillamook for the cheese factory. This is a good spot to camp and see the area.

I agree with the recent post, this RV camp is nothing more than a parking lot. Even the overflow area looks more like a storage area than a campground. There is also a constant hum/drone of a generator or some other large equipment that is pervasive. Out of all the military campgrounds that I've stayed, this one feel more like you're back in Basic Training than an RV campground for us old geezers.

Don't let anyone tell you differently, this is a parking lot. The site is a little used base, so there isn't much there. The PX is small and the base doesn't have anything for visitors. Now, from there, this is a great place to visit the Oregon Coast. The staff is very helpful, and folks on the base were friendly. We used the base as a place to set our 5th wheel, and from there went out to visit the coast. It gives you a secure site to leave your RV, and is close to the coast area for just about everything. I've enjoyed other sites more, but keeping in mind the limits, it is a nice place to stay for a few days. I wouldn't plan on an extended stay unless I had other things to do. The camp is well maintain, the facilities were really clean. We got to watch the elk herd come into the camp. I'd go back, and recommend it to anyone looking for a area to visit the coast.

J.H. left this review using the Directory software: The staff is VERY friendly. Although it is a "paved lot", with all back in slots. But, you have a nice view of the camp which is very well maintained. There is a free laundry available to campers. Also, there are cabin like facilities that can be rented as well. There is a VA clinic on post. The Rest Rooms and showers are spotless and very close to all 10 parking slots. There is a small picnic area to the SE. Word has it that in summer, you may "experience" small arms fire. Just over the hill from the "campground" is a firing range. It is a VERY nice park, and is close to Fort Clatsop and Fort Stevens in addition to Astoria and Seaside....this is a good location for this part of NW Oregon. Good price for what you get.

J.P. left this review using the Directory software: This our latest of several visits to Camp Rilea. This is one of our favorite stops and we very much enjoy the quiet atmosphere and nearby shopping (including Costco). The staff is always very friendly and helpful. We will return again.

I used to come here a lot about 5 years ago, then it was just a gravel parking lot with hookups. Since then they have paved the site and it has full hookups. They have a nice restroom and shower facility, although we didn't used it. Small PX, snack bar with wi-fi, although the wi-fi was broke while we were there. You can also rent cabins and motel rooms here if you have guests. I disagree with the previous poster, we go there for the tourist activities in the local area, there are tons of stuff to do and see, especially with grand kids. Fort Stevens State Park and Military Historical Area has a ton of activities, a museum, beach fishing/exploring, a freshwater lake for swimming/fishing, etc. Largest state park in the west. Fort Clatsop NP is a real treat, even if you aren't a history buff like me. Seaside and Canon Beach are nice beach towns, especially Canon Beach, its one of my favorite places.. and of course Astoria, lots to see there.

Just cannot compare with a Walmart parking lot. Cg is quiet, clean, convenient. Not many amenities on base, but, after all, this is a reserve base, not active duty. What do you expect? Definitely worth the price and convenience. Area tourist attractions are almost non-existant, but a nice place to stay for a few days.

This is a nice place to stop thru. We stayed here so that we could go look at light houses and waterfalls. The famcamp is basically a parking lot, but you have full hook-up and cable. The base is well kept and nice looking. There is a laundry room w/ 10 washers and dryers and the cost is FREE. We only had one day of gun-fire, the rest of the time real quite. There is a small PX that is open from 11-5pm Tuesday-Saturday. Front desk people are great, really nice and willing to help you out. You do have to check in at billeting to get a key to unlock your service box. Do not worry, plenty of room for big rigs. We manuevered our 40 footer around nicely and carefee. Spot 10 is the best because it is right on the end leaving space to park your vehicle. The 20.00 a night seemed a high to me, but then again there is cable and free laundry.

J.P. left this review using the Directory software: We have used this campground many times. It's current condition is very good. The stated 30 foot RV rule does not appear to be adhered to. Our 36 footer always fits nicely and no one objects. It is a very well kept, quiet place to be. Sometimes on weekends you will hear one of the firing ranges operating. Kilroy's, the on base all hands club is a great place.

M.H. left this review using the Directory software: We stopped here yeterday, the campground is more like a parking lot, but there is picnic tables and grassy area next to the parking. There is also a eating place on the base, also a small exchange. Not bad f;r a very small reserve base.

This is a nice place to stay. The Billeting Office handling the RV campground is friendly and efficient. Reservations in season are apprently recommended, but we took a chance and just drove in and got a spot no problem. It is a completely paved parking lot-style campground, but very clean and the sites are of adequate size. Would definitely stay here again.

GC left this review using the Directory software: The campsites are just a blacktop parking area. They do have full hook ups and the facilities are clean. The area has easy access to the local towns. We will stay there again.

What a nice camp. We pulled in there with no reservations, just as someone left unhappy with no fire rings. Oh well. Stayed there for 4 days. The area is rich in military history exploring old forts and the Astoria area was wonderful. Check out the Base Headquarters for historical facts of Camp Rilea. The Commanding Officer is a great wealth of information and is more than willing to share all his knowledge. Great experience. Will be back.

The gate guard will supply a map of the base; check-in is at the Billeting Office, just to the left of the gate-house by about 200 yards, and the 10 spaces are a mile down the main drag, turn left at the flag pole and a quarter mile more on the right are the spaces. The PX has military clothing, magazines, booze, and snacks. But, not to worry because in Warrenton, less than 5 miles back toward Astoria there's a COSTCO and Fred Meyers (its like a Super WalMart). The base is very well situated for the area's attractions. We will be returning.

Not a lot of extras BUT a great base to explore all you have in that part of the state. Showers & RR were clean and all the EM were very nice in getting us checked in and out. Parking on an asphalt slab along side other campers. No shade or tables or fire pits BUT again, very handy to all the Oregon northern coast. Will stay again.
