Does anyone know for positive fact that a VA clinic nurse falsifying a veterans medical record to cover up a 'mistake' or an 'unprofessional act' he/she did intentionally is a criminal act?

And, that act was a potentially life-threatening situation, but certainly a health-threatening act.

FWIW - to work as a RN in a VA Hospital, they must have been registered under the Division of Professional Registration in SOME state. The action of which you speak would be a breach of professional conduct and could result in revocation of their professional lioense. Whether there would be legal actions at a local level would be a matter for the local Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Monkey,
As a retired nurse, I can tell you that it is a professional ethics breech on behalf of the nurse. It would be a report to the state ethics branch. It is probably not against the law but certainly ethics, unless something happened to the individual like really sick or death.

How about calling the State Attorney in the state this occurred, they certainly could explain what the penalties if any would be. They probably will want to know why you are asking the question and can you prove this happened.

Yes. They'll ask for proof. I have copies of everything.

Everyone involved in this is in the CYA mode, it seems. But no one willing to admit it.

Got some advice here, and will pursue this further. Thanks ...
