From a tent camper's perspective, this campground has more hits than misses, that's for sure. The camp hosts were friendly and accommodating, the facilities were outstanding and the park is clean and orderly. The trails to the beach are short and the beach is wonderful. The lighthouse and Naval Aviation museums are also wonderful and the Pensacola area is very pretty. That's all the GOOD. The BAD? Vehicle traffic noise is exceeding loud during the week. Even after hours the little traffic there can be bothersome. Those with campers with their TV's and such running inside probably won't be bothered, but it gets bothersome in a tent, let me tell you. Also, the back gate is closed on the weekends, so you have to go out the front gate, which leads me to the UGLY... There have been two murders within about two miles of the front gate at NAS in the past couple of weeks. A year ago there was a murder right outside the gate at Corry Station. And, it seems every street corner has some vagabond looking for a handout. People in town seem friendly enough, but be on your guard!
