Since last visit this camp has changed like night and day. The new camp hosts have hand raked almost the entire campground. They keep the grounds neatly trimmed and clean of tree debris. They are very courteous and friendly and informative. The price is $22, with a $4 reduction with the Golden Age pass. The MWR office can NO longer issue temp passes for length of stay by order of base Commander. Without DOD sticker it can be really inconvenient and you will need to enter at the Montgomery gate which is on the opposite side of the base from the campground. A shower/laundry house would be nice and the camp hosts stated they are contemplating building one. WiFi was unavailable during our stay but a WiFi antenna has been erected and will be ready in November 2012. Cable TV is available but very limited. This campground is a very good place to stay when visiting the area. Well worth the price.

Great location for visiting Beaufort. Early risers get a chance to see the new-to-be marines out for their morning jog. Exchange is nice to roam around in. Campground is located so far back from the gate and civilization that you can hear the grass grow....Very Quiet. Didn't partake of the facilities so not sure about the restrooms/showers. Small campground but I would stop here anytime I pass through. If you haven't been here then Give It a TRY!

As usual, Camp host WES is man on the spot with help and info. Restrooms/showers are as clean as an operating room. RV sites are well kept and clean. Meals at dining facility are good. All base personnel are exceptionally polite. Exchange and Commissary well stocked, clean and convenient. The only improvement would be cable TV if the cable companies would charge MWR an arm and a leg for it. Wifi worked well. If you haven't been here then DO IT! You won't be disappointed.

Arrived on a Sunday and obtained assigned space from display board at office. Assigned space was occupied so I took next available space since no host came out to greet us. My reservation was for 3 days but plans changed and I requested 2 additional days. The reply was unable to grant request due to a reservation for the space I was currently in, which I had no choice to be in anyway, but was informed that I could pick up everything and move to another spot for 1 day only. Not happy with that option I decided to leave on original time and go to another CG. My gripe is during my 3 days there I physically sighted numerous personnel in uniform and some not in uniform departing early for work daily. I thought this was a CG for recreation not housing. Maybe I should question this on ICE.

Decent sites with gravel. Water connection is located behind next site picnic areas. Cable TV is excellent. WiFi is excellent and responsive. Camp Host walks the entire CG at least 3 times a day and is ready to assist in info. Temp CG office is South of CG. New Temp Mini-mart is convenient if you don't want to drive to the MCX/Commissary which is not exactly around the corner. Head/shower facilities very clean. Laundry facilities also clean. Ocean breeze is very nice and cool during the day and makes for ideal sleeping weather. Boat traffic on the ICW is nice to watch. Office asked about dog but didn't require proof of shots even though I had the entire record. This CG is great for relaxing and tanning on the beach. Highly recommended.

Much improvement since last year. New spaces/roads are paved with full hookups. No cable TV but 19 over the air TV channels. WiFi is available but most times I had to take laptop and drive around CG until it synced up. Signal strength is 5 bars all over CG. CG is extremely well maintained. When someone leaves within minutes a camp host is on site to clean and ensure site is ready for next patron. Noise level during the day is not unbearable but expected since being nearly on top of the air strip, skeet shooting range, small arms shooting range and some base construction. Since seeing Charleston during the day is the main reason for being here the daily noise is not a concern. Downtown Charleston is a straight shot down I-26. Base exchange/commissary is very convenient. Dining facility is walking distance and serves good food very cheap. Pet vet is behind office in case of emergency. Shower/laundry houses are immaculately clean. After the word gets out about the improvements here I expect it may be well populated but so far except for the early part of April the CG has had numerous spaces open. I usually call for a status when I am within 1-2 hours since they don't take reservations. Overflow is concrete slab with electric & water and if that is full the camp host will make extraordinary effort to at least find you a dry camp spot until someone departs which is usually within a day or two. So far the camp hosts have said they have turned no one away.

Park has not changed from last year except lack of active on-site host. Weeds are not cut back. Cable TV was converted to Verizon and it is very basic. Over air TV, we got 9 channels. Office personnel very friendly and helpful. Campground needs attention. Many campers had no idea where office was which could be easily resolved by on-site host. We like this campground for its location. Price was raised from our stay of last year which did not reflect in any improvement in the campground or ammenities. I also agree with comments by sbaker, we need to ensure we clean up after ourselves as a courtesy for the campers that will utilize the facilities behind us. Lets not ruin a good thing. Remember to visit the Exchange/Commissary while here.

Contacted Arlene for reservations. She went beyond the standard and squeezed us in for 3 days between previous reservations. The park is small but clean and neat. Extremely quiet, just right for relaxing. NO cable but the MCX has REDBOX for movie rental. Cell phone service is iffy. The MCX and commissary facilities are very good. The addition of cable TV would be a great improvement. I would definitely stay here again.

Hershel goes beyond his job description. I contacted him as I was leaving I95 and he waited at the gate for me. He came by every day to ensure we didn't have any problems. Due to some tree trimming the park was partially closed but he squeezed us in. The hookups are new and clean. The spaces are hard dirt. Cable available channels are garbage unless you like shopping. Location of stores and restaurants is excellent. Lack of showers/restrooms not a big deal we used our motorhome facilities. Early morning walks to park/marina are refreshing but do use bug repellent. I plan on staying there on my return trip to Florida. Nice little campground and great location for exploring Savannah.

Visit every year, this year we found the facilities maintenance to be lacking. Showers had good pressure but shower heads were almost clogged. Water selection for hot/cold was actually reversed. Head stalls were deteriorating. Sinks were chipped and showing signs of rust. Paper towel dispenser was removed and small air dryer installed. No way to clean/dry sinks after use. Weeds around site utilities were high and bees were present in them. Other than that, the people present were very pleasant and friendly. Commissary/exchange still nice and convenient. Weather as usual was fantastic.

Fantastic site. Not a place to pass up. The office staff couldn't be nicer. Walk along the beach at sun rise is fantastic. The only problem we encountered was that the bridge was being worked on so there was a wait to get over to the site and then off. Great place to come to and relax. We will be back!

Great place. Peggy extremely friendly and helpful. CG spotless. Shower and laundry facilities are so clean it's almost a shame to use them. Gate 3 entrance is fine but roads in CG are narrow. Sites are back in. Really a pleasant CG to visit. Exchange is ENORMOUS!

Great view, very relaxing. Weather was excellent. On-site office CLOSED. Check-in package delivered because we made reservations while traveling. Not normally suggested because of limited sites. Drive to Historic Newport very easy. Wickford also easy to get to and a must to visit by car. CG only dislike was no sewer hookup or convienant dump station. We only stayed 3 days so dumped at next RV park.

Site was soggy for big rig. Electric only. Water was obtained on way out by running hose to faucet in shower rooom. Dump station on opposite side of site. Low tree limbs need trimming for passage to dump station. Shower was decent. All personnel extremely helpful and friendly. Road from US-17 to gate is very tight especially if towing. Road to CG is single lane. Just hope you don't meet another RV.

Unusual experience. Office just let us find a space then inform them which space we utilized. We parked on the concrete slab in space #2 just steps from the shower. 1 Male and 1 female shower. Extremely clean though. No lines. Personnel in office were extremely helpful in mapping routes around city. During day there is some jet noise but not bad. Only down side was no sewer hookup. But for a 2 day stay not a problem going to dump station only a few yards away as we left. Very nice place and I recommend it.
