We stayed in the new section, nice big spots but absolutely no shade and with the winds, you can't leave your awning up to block the sun. The A/C's worked HARD for the time we were there. They could use another (or larger) laundry facility as well--when they added the new sites, they did not add additional laundry/bathing. Lots to do in the local area and the base is beautiful. We'd definitely come back--but not when it is so hot :-).

We really enjoyed this park and will come back. Staff was nice and helpful--only markdown is for the laundry facilities. They could use a good cleaning and several of the dryers didn't work. We were parked near the pool and found all the spots around us to be well kept and large; many parks you are right on top of your neighbor--here you had plenty of room.

Very nice, well-maintained park. Large spots with plenty of shade. Laundry room was clean...and pretty inexpensive (.75 to wash and .75 to dry for 40 mins). Only reason I marked it down for "value" is for a military park--$20 is on the high end...would be great if they had cable :-). I would definitely stay here again, there is so much to see and do in the Colorado Springs area.

Monterey is a beautiful city and the park is very convenient to everything. The laundry and bath house were both very clean...but were the only amenities. The spaces were very small for larger rigs and POV parking made it hard to get an RV thru at times. Having said that, it was a great place to park and sleep and get up in the morning and see the town. We are looking forward to visiting again after the renovations.

This is a great location to relax for a bit. Yes, you see the Marines doing P.T. and their vehicles come thru the park a lot of mornings to launch off the beach next to the park...that doesn't bother us at all! To us, that is one of the great things about staying in military parks--you get to see our military train for what they do best. For some reason, if you reserve for two weeks, they put you in the very back...farthest from the ocean so you get no view. Not sure why, and no one could tell me! There were many spots empty during the time we were there, but that didn't seem to matter. After Memorial Day, they did let us move up one row, which was a bit better but still two rows of RVs in front of us (when they were there). We did not use the bath house at all--it is definitely for the campers! But, that is why we bought the RV, so we could be comfortable/self-contained when we needed to be. I would not recommend using the laundry at the Park. Very dirty and the dryers did not work...I ended up packing up my clothes and taking them to the laundry next to the small exchange and starting over. I do think the cost is a bit steep for what they offer, but it is beautiful when you get up in the mornings and walk the beach. I would stay here again just for that!

Excellent park! Everything is kept up well--laundry room and restrooms cleaned regularly. Although we didn't utilize it--they have a great room for your use if you have an event of some sort. Sites were good size, level and nicely landscaped. Lots to do in the El Paso area. We will definitely return!

The location is the best! We stayed for a month and still didn't do everything we wanted. Golfing was great and the staff at the clubhouse were extremely helpful. We tried to extend 15 days, at first we were told no problem but they had to fix the computer first and would call us that evening...didn't hear from them so went in the next day and were told we would have to move out, dry camp 5 days, and then move back in. We decided to press on. The "first impression" of the campground would be improved quite a bit if the night host site was cleaned up. Overall, an very good campground with friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again.

We originally checked in for 5 days, after three we decided to delay leaving and stay a little longer. This is a great campground! Easy to see why it was rated the best. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The Austins (couple in the office) were very friendly and had no problem taking time to tell you about the area, RV parks in other States...whatever you needed to know. Lots to do in the area. We look forward to coming back.
