This is a Great FamCamp. We were heading for Denver and called from the road. The lady at the desk took a reservation for that night and gave us great directions to the park. We came in though the south gate, with the speed bumps. Our rig is 55' long, bumper to bumper, and there is NO way to get though those speed bumps. That said, if you you go slow, you won't have any trouble going over them. Once you are in the park, the sites are situated so that you don't feel crowded, and the trees make the nicest sound in the breeze. I will be staying here again.

Wonderful campground with lots of walking areas. We stayed in the Shields Park portion of the camp. Good access, plenty of space on both sides of the rig. Very little shade, but plenty of wind to cool things. The young man the checked us in was polite, but clearly in over his head. Couldn't answer any questions about the campground or the base. Went in the next day, to find out that he hadn't even checked us in properly, there was still an open space with my name on it. There are NO campground hosts, and very little in the way of rule enforcement. There is a pier for fishing, but it needs a LOT of work. Shows that the camp is not maintained well. We did not use any of the showers or club room, so can't comment on that. Our experience with the wi-fi was great, easy to log onto, and relatively fast. With all of the problems and discussion of the way the camp is run, we will still be coming back.

This is a beautiful park in the middle of a construction site. There is NO good road into the park. Once you get to the park, things could not be better. Jim, the park host, met us after the office was closed, and showed us to our site. The sites are concrete with plenty of room on both sides for slides. There is plenty of room to walk your dogs, and the free run is pretty good sized and is well kept up. We are planning on staying here again in the near future, just to spend time in San Antonio. If you are coming here, there are two things you must do: 1. Call for reservations. 2. GET GOOD DIRECTIONS ONTO POST AND TO THE RV PARK. It seems that all of the gates onto post are under construction, and there is construction all over post, so be prepared for a BUMPY ride into the park. We stayed in a 5th wheel.

Small campground within walking distance of most of the facilities on base. VERY clean. Great location in Altus for house hunting, exploring the area, etc. We will be going back in the spring.

We stayed at LETRA in October, 2007 and are planning on staying there again next week. It is a quiet, peaceful area with lots of walking space, and places for the grandkids to play. Showers were clean. The main campground was well laid out, and easy to get into. All in all, a very nice place to camp in the off season. We will probably try it during the summer, this year as well.
