This park is closing in September. Been coming here for 14 years and the rent-a-cops have always been an irritation. Now new security measures. We and our dogs had to leave the truck while they inspected it. Also had to open the fifth wheel while that was inspected. Made us feel like security risks. Even if this park wasn't closing we would not come back. For everyone who remembers Wanda, she is moving to a retirement community in Ripon next week.

Very nice small famcamp. Restrooms/laundry were spotless. Long pull-thru concrete pads. Famcamp brochure is very useful, as is the other info posted in the kiosk where you register. Park hosts were very congenial. We'd like to stay again sometime, for a longer period.

When I emailed for a reservation Howard responded within five minutes All we could get was an elect site in overflow. When we arrived we were pleased to find out that a pull thru full-hookup had become available and he gave it to us. Howard is one of the most congenial park managers we have ever met. He has pastries, coffee and juice in the office everyday for the famcampers - free. We haven't used the restrooms and showers, but from the look of the park I can imagine that they are in good shape and clean. We would certainly stay here again and for a longer time, but right now we're anxious to get home to Oregon.

This is a very nice campground. The lady in the office couldn't have been more helpful and eager to please. Our back-in site was difficult to get into because of a large tree which leaned into the back of the site. It kept us from backing all the into the site. Even if we managed to get further back it would not have allowed us to open one of our slides. The site should be reserved for trailers or campers, not fifth wheels or motorhomes. The base is beautiful and we're enjoying our short time here.

The directions were spot on, but I would add that when you turn left at the FAMCAMP sign and go over the RR tracks, turn right to get to the park. The lady in the office was very helpful and efficient. We didn't use the showers or restrooms so I can't comment on them. One washer was out of order while we were there, but I was able to do laundry without waiting for someone to finish. We enjoyed staying here, but I wish it was closer to the base. It was a bit isolated. The big drawback we saw was with something they mixed with the gravel. We had some heavy rain and a clay-like substance got all over our truck when we went thru some large puddles at the famcamp.

Our first time at this famcamp and it has been wonderful. I called from the road to inquire about available sites and talked to Eric. He couldn't have been more helpful. When I told him we may not be able to make it that far that night he suggested we opt for overflow which has water/electric - all we really needed. That way he wouldn't have to charge our credit card for one night and we wouldn't lose that money if we couldn't make it in. Refreshing to find someone who wasn't just looking to make some money. We arrived one and half hours AFTER the office closed but Eric was still there and welcomed us like we were long lost friends. Couldn't ask for a better office manager. The sites are very nice, each with a small patio. Restrooms are very clean with soap dispensers in each shower and terrific water pressure. I urge anyone who was put off by the previous manager to come back and experience the difference.

We're spending four days here while visiting with family. We made our reservations by phone and were informed we could only get water/electric. However, when we arrived at the office we were told we could have full hook-ups. Apparently the company the Navy contracts with for reservations doesn't know what is available. The park has a shabby appearance due to the homesteaders - one woman lived here for 17 years before finally being asked to move on. Also, the cherry trees throughout the park can really mess up your rig when they splat on the roof, and they can stain your clothes and carpets. We would stay here again only because it is close to our family.

Our first time at this famcamp and we love it. The girls at Outdoor Rec were very friendly and extremely helpful. This is a famcamp that doesn't hand you a list of rules and regs. They are more concerned with the customer than with keeping the grass green. Just come and relax. We just wish this base was closer to Oregon so we could visit more frequently.

This Famcamp is one of the best in the system. Steve the camp host and the various camp managers are all very friendly and accommodating. The only drawback we had was not at the famcamp but security at the gate. Rvs must stop for inspections. Everyone must leave the rig, open all storage areas then step inside a small building and wait for the rv to be inspected. Some people have been told to turn their backs while the inspection took place. Wasn't comfortable not being able to observe the operation. Rvs are treated the same as commercial trucks, which is odd. Once on base everything is great. Back-in sites are cramped if everyone has slides, but it's still doable.

They really know how to run a famcamp here. The new manager and the camp host go out of their way to ensure that everyone has a pleasant stay. However, be prepared to do battle with the ants. Didn't have any problems with mice but was told they still have snakes around. The fitness center is worth a visit. New resistance machines which are great. This is one of our favorite famcamps.

If, like us, you want full hook-ups and solitude, this is the place. Park is very bare-bones but they have plans to upgrade it. People on this base are very very friendly and helpful. Great sandwiches and smoothies at the internet cafe. Retirees can eat at the dining facility. We didn't use it, but were told the food is very good. Small fitness center behind Billeting. The museum across the street from the fitness center is not to be missed. Open Thursdays and Saturdays. We visited twice during our two weeks at the base and will return next year. We really enjoy this place.

Vandenberg is one of our favorite famcamps. Steve, the new host, is very friendly and the office staff really tries to make your stay comfortable. Wifi still does not reach the entire park. The base doesn't seem to want to support the famcamp and problems go unaddressed. It is due for expansion in 2010 but I doubt that will happen. Even with the problems it is still a very nice park.

This is an extremely well kept famcamp. Mary and Tony have been delightful and we are enjoying our stay here. Yes, there are a lot of rules, but they make for a nice park. We have heard all the comments about Tony, and I must admit our first time here we drove 6 miles an hour thru the park and heard about it. This time he has been very friendly and we certainly have no complaints. We just wish we could stay longer.

Spent a month here and never once saw the "volunteer" camphost. Hope he hasn't been given a free site because he does nothing. Had to give laundry combination to a new arrival because office was closed. Camp host should greet arrivals when John is not there. Ten sites are presently unavailable due to electrical problems. Heard they were going to upgrade all sites to 50 amp, but the revenue generated by the famcamp goes to the maintenance of the golf course, so I don't hold my breath that it will be done. John the manager is very pleasant and does what he can, but the base doesn't seem interested in the famcamp. One camper has been there at least two years; however, when I asked a MWR girl who was subbing for John how he could stay that long she SWORE no one has been there that long. All this being said, we still love the peacefulness of this famcamp and just wish it would be cared for.
