We stayed just one night, but we found the famcamp in a beautiful location in the woods. Our greeting very friendly and directions to the site were great. We found the BX nice; if a little small. Overall our stay was great and we will surly stay there again when we are in the area.

This is El Jefe and I have stayed at Goodfellow AFB FamCamp six times and been camp host three times. I was not camp host during this time. I wish to respond to EXSailorinTexas. One-The famcamp is never dirty, there is trash as will happen in every park, but the park is picked up each day by the staff. Two-Because of the way the park is set out all or every site could or is a disabled site! Three-The civilian event he is talking about was sponsored in by a member of that event who is retired military and used his rights to the park. Four-The incident with the underwear happened on the Fourth of July, two months before he arrive at the park. He apparently heard this story told and added it to his tirade for color. Five-The restrooms/showers do need to be replaced, they are old, but they are kept clean and in as good shape as their age will allow. C E and the AF have promised to replace them for as long as I have been coming here. They are more than adequate. Six-How does he know that they are civilians? May be some, but most are service connected. Seven-The camp host was here every day and closed the gate every night that "he" was here at or near 2100. As for the rest of his story it is as false as those things I have already pointed out. The camp manager and the staff are very friendly and helpful and great people. All have three or more years of experience in outdoor Rec. The camp manager has over fifteen years of service to Outdoor Rec. The costs and air port are what they are. If you don't like them move to some other place. Eight-If you have an emergency call 911 or the police and they will respond, I would also notify the base security and the camp host. They will respond, but they are 10 miles away? I will not waste more time and space on this. Bottom line: Goodfellow FamCamp is a great place to stay and the staff are great people. You will always be welcomed here and treated great. Your experience here or anywhere is what you make it. BMC Bud Kingston, USCGR, El Jefe.

This is our second stay at Eagle Hammock. We have enjoyed both stays. The Park is well taken care of and the Facilities are very clean. The camp hosts are always helpful and friendly. The park is a peaceful place to stay and side trips to St. Marys are easy and fun. The GC birthday was celebrated with a pig pull and all in the part were invited. It was a great meal and a great time. The park has many activities for the people staying there, so you can do a lot of activities or just set back and enjoy the peace and quite. When we were there the wifi was available at the activity room, however that has changed. By now the park should be painted by wifi. The sites are large and well landscaped. They are building ten new sights and they should be ready soon. They are set overlooking the lake. They should be beautiful when completed. We will return to Eagle Hammock again. Great job MWR and Outdoor Rec. Keep up the good work.

The place is a little hard to find, but worth the effort. They are working hard to have this park meet campers needs. I also wonder who thinks that sewage runs uphill? I find this in a lot of parks. They need to take a trip to Eagle Hammock in GA and see how to set up the sewer inlet. Other than that the park is a pleasure to stay at. The camp host is great. The park is well maintained and the WiFi is very high speed. We did some sight seeing in the area and were able to get around once I got my parring. Nice NEX and Commissary not far from the park. I hope they continue to grow the park. With FHUs it is a great place to stay. We will return when in the area.

A little out of the way for north/south travel, however worth the trip to stay there. The office and facilities look new and are nice. You can get on the internet at the laundry room by ethernet cable. The laundry room is very small and not well thought out. The sewer connections are not in the correct place. This could be corrected easily if someone wanted to. We were on site #21 and it is tight for a 40' coach. All this being said, we were comfortable on our site and enjoyed our stay at Shaw. The base is very nice and we did some travel in the area. It was a great time. The MWR needs to get WiFi in the park. All of the retired Military we meet have laptop computers in their rigs and the parks need to address this issue. We will return again if in the area. Good job outdoor rec.

A great place to visit the Atlantic Ocean. As a ex Coast Guardsman I really enjoyed the place. I loved to watch the boats on the inter-coastal water way. The swinging bridge that you have to cross to get to the park is on the waterway and I loved to watched as it let the big and little boats move on the waterway. We walked the beach and drove all over the base. I was proud of the young men and women we met on the base. We were treated with great respect by them and I could not thank them enough for what they are doing. It is a long way to anything though, and watch for the "Tank Crossings." The office people were very nice and helpful and the mini-mart is good for incidentals, however like all these stores the prices are high. The sites are a little tight for big rigs. I think the CG could use a little TLC, but all in all a nice place to stay. MWR needs to get wifi in the park. I think the CG is used enough to afford to do this. We will return if in the area.

Being retired Coast Guard I am very proud of the base. Clean and well taken care of. The land scape work on the base is lovely. Although the base does not have a commissary, the BX is nice and the park is restful. Great view of the water and beach. We both were glad that we stayed here. The people in the office are very nice and helpful. We recommend it to all.

We spent two weeks at The Colonies Army Camp Grounds on Ft Monroe, VA. We loved it. Although the CG has only 30amp with S/W it is a great place to stay if you want to do Williamsburg, James Town and Yorktown historical sites. A little out of the way, but the base is a treasure trove of history itself. We are sorry to hear that the base is on the close list. We are so glad we went before that happened. We made reservations about four weeks in advance and arrived after the office was closed. There was a list on the door telling us which site to go on and that they would see us Monday. If we had any questions to see the camp host Marv. He is a great guy and answered all my questions about the base and the area. The sites are a little tight, but very nice. It is very restful and quit. After long days visiting the area historical places it was great to come home to peace and quit. If you go there make sure you save time to visit the old fort. It is full of history from the civil war on. They say it is to close in 2009. If you can, go before that happens. As was said in another review, the MWR office does not have any info about the area, but the Soldier & Family Support Center is very helpful. The only place to get on the internet is at the library, that is the only downer in the place. All in all a good time was had by all.

The directions to the CG are good. We found the office personnel very friendly and helpful. The grounds and the office/day room are very nice. The sites are nicely spaced with FHU, good water pressure and 125 or better volts of electric power. The camp grounds is in a wooded area and very quit and peaceful. I had a little problem getting on the WiFi, had limited service for my e-mail. I have a MacBook so it could be me. The CG is on the site of Ft Carlson Army Post and the Gen Patton Museum is great. The PX and Commissary on Ft Knox are not far away. Overall we enjoyed the time we spent at Ft Carlson Rec Area. We will go back when we are in the area. Great job Outdoor Rec.

We arrived at Scott AFB on a holiday and found it a little hard to find the CG. One of the street names has been changed or because of security reasons the route has been changed. We eventually found the correct road and got to the camp sites. We had no idea where we were to go and the Outdoor Rec personal did not leave a note or mark the lot we were to use. There is no Camp Host (I understand MWR will not have one) so that did not help. MWR closed, no camp host and no help from Outdoor Rec. We took one of the paved lots marked H/C. It was open and all the other lot were full on the new sites. I agree with other reviews; the CG is not friendly and is not set up for newer and bigger rigs. I also think that Outdoor Rec doesn't give a hoot if the CG is there or not. When I was in the office to pay a clerk took my money and was talking to the man in charge who was late himself and complaining about another employee who was late also. So, no one knew I was there as far as I was concerned, I was not recognized nor thanked for my coming to the park. In two days I never saw an Outdoor Rec person in the CG. I would not go back unless some are changes made, starting with the office. Close to St. Louis is the only up side I can see. Sorry Outdoor Rec. you need to get your act together.
