I think this place is wonderful. This time we stayed in new area. Easy to get to. People are very friendly and helpful. Everything worked very well. Place was very clean. Here are my complaints - which are not enormous. I do not like the showers. There is no dressing divider. Your clothes, toilet bag and towel are in the same area as you in the shower. Even though there is a wide dispersal shower head, you still get spray on your items. In addition, the stall divider does not go to the ceiling. Not quite comfortable looking at another person next to me. Would also like to see cable TV. We have satellite TV but do not get Las Vegas channels on it. Miss a lot of local information. Would suggest the base information channel be included when cable TV installed. I also think the 6 month stay could be revised but am resigned to it. Hedging here in case I want to stay 6 months.

FAMCAMP was clean and camp host was friendly and helpful. He met us at our site - we just drove in and picked one. Registered and paid on-site. We stayed in back portion where only 30 amp electricity and water were available. Had no problems though. We had a pretty muggy night because of recent rains - nothing camp host can do. However, the road near the showers/laundry was muddy - needs quite a lot more gravel in this area. In fact, roads throughout could use a little maintenance. Would be nice if WIFI were offered. Also, I would recommend a FAMCAMP sign be posted at the first intersection. This is a three-way intersection and easy to miss as I was looking for a four-way intersection. Easy to get to correct road by going around the quadrangle where the static displays of aircraft are. I liked having the gas pumps nearby. YOU CANNOT BEAT THE PRICE!!

Not necessarily beautiful but it was clean and everything worked. FAMCAMP was highly functional. You are near BX and Commissary and when driving your car, getting on/off base was quick and easy. WIFI was very good and fast. We would stay here again - no doubt about it. Free laundry was a pleasant surprise. All dryers and washers worked quite well. Directions given on this website were accurate and concise. Would have liked to have seen a FAMCAMP sign on base earlier than currently posted.

There are many things nice about this place but getting to the registration office is not one of them. It is physically impossible to do in your RV. However, if you turn into the large parking area on your left, the walk is not very far. The young woman in the office was very friendly and helpful. While here I needed to go to the Commissary, BX, MWR Tours and Tickets and Balboa Hospital. With the exception of Balboa Hospital, all were situated on San Diego Naval Base about 8 miles away. Balboa Hospital is about 9 miles away in the opposite direction. She provided excellent directions. She always made me feel important to her. The sites are a bit close, but most are on level concrete pads and there are no side by side hookups. They are all back-ins but any size RV will fit. When we were there, the showers/bathroom facility was under renovation. There were portable facilities available but they were quite small but acceptable. WIFI is excellent and provided throughout the park. The park is very quiet and peaceful. We will stay again – AND YES – they take reservations – 2 months in advance.
