Very friendly staff and helpful staff. Had to use the over flow but no problem, just needed to get there a little early in the day. One bad thing was a person came in at the same time as me went to over flow then their friends showed up and they had sign up for a full hook up site so they moved. Didn't think that was fair to other RVer's, since they have a no reservation policy. But that's not the campgrounds fault just RVer's.

You can't ask for a better Fam-Camp. Every thing was clean, the laundry room, exercise equipment handy. With the new Gas station across the street and fuel prices cheaper than our post and the Flying J. Just an outstanding place to spend the night or two.

The first thing I will say this park is operated by some of the friendliest camp host around. I called early in the morning for 2 spots and they save them for us. The bad things are the streets getting to the park and that the new area doesn't have any cable, also some of the people need to clean up their spot because they can stay long term. Little pricey but I think the whole Fam-Camp program has raised there rates. In some cases it's OK but in some they need to reduce them.

Well I only stayed one night, was going to stay longer but... I have a Big rig and I'll tell you I will not go back till they really do some work. As stated in other reviews watch out for the tree branches, I ended up with some minor surface damage that I had to work out at our next location.

What a great stay, the new host was friendly and helpful. She met us as we pulled into the sign in area. I called to see how many spot were open prior to leaving I-35 since I was traveling south. She told me that they had a few open. I always called before going into the Air Force Fam camps since they do not take reservations not even for the day. The commissary/ BX were great. The base is just great, little noisy from the airplanes but no big deal. The best thing is that let you wash your rig and tow. I do not use the wash rooms or the washer/dryers but I did look in and they were spotless. I always stop ther traveling I-35

The check in process was as easy as ever, Met Arlene at the MWR office during check in. We needed to extend our stay by a few days at check in she helped and made sure it happened. They base has little to do on it but FT. Monmoth is just a few miles away, also Ft. Dix & McGuire AFB is just a short drive if you really need a great PX/BX. A laundry mat is near FT Monmoth about 5 miles away. But let me tell you the BEST things, your about a hour from Philly, Alantic City, & NYC. The lighthouses and the NJ beaches are just a few miles away. The NJ Transit system parking is Free after 09:00 and show your ID card on the train and the ride into NYC is Free also. Remember do not ride during prime time or it cost Go to the USO in NYC and get some discounts for Broadway show with out having to stand in line at TKTS outlet every day. The USO is located in the port authority. Some times they have Basaball tickets. I would or will stay there again and again. Yes the hook ups are different but I'm been at worst both Military and civilian. Just plan a little for the sewer hook up. I only used a 20 foot sewer line with no problems, 25 foot H2O hose & a standard Elect cord for 50 Amps. The security police drove thru every day to check on things.

This is our second time here at the Fam-Camp and it hasn't changed in 8 years. The sites are in poor condition (gravel & deep ruts) water stands in & in front of the sites when rainning. Poor 30 Amp power, I had to use my gen set for a time. Some of the rv units have been here way to long and need to be moving on. I think some RV's are left here connected to elect while the owners go oversea on a hop or they use it for storage. The staff is Great and the people wonderful to visit with. Only 2 washers and dryers but works out OK with some planning. One would think that this Fam Camp would be the best in the system, since they have a 54 hole golf course. Can't tell me that MWR can't see the benefits of up grading the RV sites. The great thing is it's close to downtown DC.

Great for doing Williamsburg, Jamestown & Yorktown. Easy to get to from interstate. 11-19 for big rigs except 13 because of the play ground fence, all cement pads are short my 40 footer din't fit but level sites. Only 1 washer and dryer at CG, they removed the TV and furniture from the the rec room because the security use to hang out there. Some long term stayers, but no problem. Power goes off every once in a while or should I say at least once every few days, not the base problem but the local power company. Make sure your systems are on auto switch over. H20 pressure high runs around 80-95 PSI, they have LP at the MWR office but pricey over 4.00 a gal. Golf is priced right with cart can't afford not to play. Ft. Eutis is just down the road for large BX and Commissary. Use the IT & T office there to buy tickets for local attractions, since CAX MWR office doesn't have them always. I would stay again for long term or short term even over night if traveling up or down I-64.

After I read the comments from the early postings I was really nervous about goint to the Fam-Camp. Well let me tell you I do not know what their problems was or is, I found the staff and all the workers to be the friendly. I could see why some people get told about their dogs. The rule states that all pets must be on a leash, oh yea she didn't have her pet on the leash which they stated. I can see why the staff gets up set with some RVers since they have no respect for anything, yesterday some one cleaned their fish they caught in the restroom and just left the mess for the staff to clean. Another thing was a pet owner did pick up the dog waste but as she walked by the restroom she just tossed it in on the floor and kept walking. You bet if I were the camp host I would be a little bossy since the RVers can't obey the rules. Every one here right now is having a great time and we meet at the club house every evening. The RVers walking around talk to every one and if they need help some one is always willing to help or give advice. Heck I live in FL and this is my first time here and I'll be back many more times. The beach is just down the road and with in walking distance and can be gotten to by EVC's, wheel chairs, bikes and what every. If you want to fish just walk to the river right in your front door. The dolphins play in the river all day and fun to watch. This Fam - Camp was voted the second best in the U.S. by SMART. - Just a quick up date for arrivals and depatures to Base and Fam-camp. It is now required that you arrive at the Main gate in the far right lane (#1), when you depart depending on the time of day. Depart from the hours of 05:00 - 17:00 you must depart from gate 5 which comes into A1A. If you depart from 17:00 to 05:00 you must use the main gate Lane 1, thats right the entrance lane. You'lll need to talk to the main guards to stop the traffic the proceed when directed by the guards. This proeedure in force till further notice. I would call the camp host for the latest traffic flow into the base. Again I would say this is been one of the best Fam-Camps I've been in, and I've been to alot. I'm on my fourth tear of the USAF Campers book. The are no police actions, Washers/ dryers get up early, no problems. Take part in the activities at the roost and enjoy. There is a young service man that will wash your rig for 2 bucks a foot and does a great job.

Well I'm sorry to hear that the last person had troubles at Patrick. Myself and a friend had no problems getting into the RV Park no reservations just a simple phone about 1 hour before showing up. Yes we didn't get full hook ups but we got H2O and 30 amp power which is OK. The staff was excellent and very friendly. Some of the sites were a little tuff for a 40 footer but if you been driving for a while it's a easy job just take it slow. Not all the USAF fam-camps take reservations in fact I don't think to many do and that's OK if you just give a call, also the staff will give you the latest instructions on how to get on the base and to the fam-camp. I've been at Patrick several times before and I've always had a great time there. Oh, yes don't show up the day of a shuttle launch and think your going to get the prime sites, watch for those dates and plan ahead if you want to see it. Getting on the base since they installed the commercial gate is easy, just get on A1A and enter the base it the same instruction as in the book and what's on the web site. I don't understand why people complain about the showers and toilets when they have them in their rigs that's why they put them in there to use.

Like everyone else the enterance is tuff, driving a 40 foot motorhome with a toad is BAD, blocks traffic. We came with a friend and they were just behind us and we blocked traffic for a while, our friend had to move to the motel to turn around and then enter the CG Station. Parking is a little tuff also since there isn't much room to turn around and the big tree in front of spot 4, they finally fiwed the metal plates in front of spot 1, they don't slip around anymore so you can drive over them with out worry. Over all the stay was great. This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and would do it again. We would prefer Sigsbee but then you can't be sure of a spot there since it's first come first served. The main support is at the NAS and Sigsbee and that's a drive for washing/drying. The price has been raised to 25.00 and that's a little pricey for what you get, but it's the KEYS. The MWR staff is just GREAT.

The new camphost is still trying to get his routine down. The office operating hours need to be better. If you come in when the office is closed it's self park and hopefully you won't have to move because some one has the spot. No cable TV service except at a few spots. WIFI is up and working but very low, the TV room has hi speed broadband now. The only people watering the grass were the RVer's that were in the spots. Better to it yourself then have you RV watered down along with your equipment outside. If the base MWR would improve the old mobile home park they could have unlimited spaces with 50 amp service and cable TV. Trees need to be trimmed to get them out of the parking spaces, this would prevent scratches to you RV. Not all spaces have trees. Long term is OK, good fishing, RC airplane flying & golf. Have been here numerous times and will be coming back. Good elect power and H2O pressure.

We stayed for 2 weeks this year, last year we stayed for 6 weeks. We had troubles connecting to the office to make reservations both times. Last year we had to move since an Elk's group came in for the week-end even thought our stay for another 2 weeks was paid. Best place to stay to do Disneyland, Knotts, Presidents libraries, and other local attractions. Pricey but for the area it's OK, could give free WIFI. Some of the staff uses the laundry for their personnel use on a daily basis. Since they are working the laundry stays in washers or dryers till the get a break. Very windy so watch your awnings, watch the auto sprinkler systems and the water spots on your RV and wetting your lawn chairs, tables, grills, etc. The RV wash I didn't use but can get busy at times. Bad thing is that it was broke down alot, RV's pulled in to find it long enough to do large RV's have to wash it in sections. New camp host hadn't showed up as of the 9th of June. Picnic area very nice along with the BBQ grill connect to gas all the time. Maintenance staff were very helpful with every thing. Lawn mower & lawn edging operates early mornings.

It's a little off the freeways for just one night but safe. The power was very low it was lucky if it came up to 114 volts on both legs of 50 AMP service, so watch your power. I feel that it is very over priced for the campground. The entrance is in a parking lot, so if you have a 40 foot or better gets a little tight if the parking lot is crowded. The pool was right next to the campground. The park was patrolled by security and was very quite in the evenings. Since they have raised the price to 23.00 it would be nice if they would improve the spaces or give free wifi. I feel that the campground is really over priced for the location and what you get. We have stayed here 3 times and I would have to evaluate my next stay for the price.
