BE AWARE of Electric problems!!! We pulled in and left after a frustrating 1 1/2 hours! Evidently they had a transformer blow on Monday BUT it is not fixed. We plugged into 50amp and put out slides and jacks down and went into set the TV and no power. Nothing in 30amp and no 110 outlets on base to put in our tester.... we checked other lights on the bases and another RV'er who had just pulled in was having problems. We walked around to check what we could and went to try the 30amp in another site...after plugging in we saw the meter peg 140V. I called outdoor rec and the young man said he would make a couple calls and get back to me-never did! We and two other couples immediately packed up and left. I don't know if they will fix as it is "off season" and no host there and the 30amp older side seemed to be fine(unless they were not aware)and maybe outdoor rec thought I was a female who didn't know what I was talking about...SO please check electric!!!

A very quiet base/stay as well as almost empty. Even the skeet range next to park was quieter this visit. Camphosts were gone for winter so not sure when the restrooms/laundry will get cleaned again... Verizon MI-FI was fine but poor TV reception(only ABC in our site) Nice big dog park since last visit and you can no longer eat at chow hall. Sites are small as RV's get bigger but the concrete pads are flat. Camphosts had planted wonderful garden-impressive. We had a ridiculous wait at the Commercial gate...appeared to be one guard for two lines till suddenly 5 guards showed up and they apologized for wait as all we had to do was show ID's twice to go thru. All in all though we would come back.

Very much a 'vacation spot' vs those of us that are full-time...we had to move 4 times the first two weeks! The Adventure Center store is stocked and people were pleasant and accommodating but their reservation system sucks! 2 RV's were going to have literally flip sites for one day before one couple left!!-the RV'ers worked it out. They need to update their systems! Most sites were sorta flat but some were way uneven. The lake with fishing and party on boats was noisy some days and some military helicopter practice could be watched. I picked up trash in every site we were in but then watched them blow leaves on empty sites the last visit thru. Watch out for tree sap in many sites and you can tell they haven't ever washed a table there. You can have mail or UPS/FED-Ex delivered at Adventure Center. Our Verizon MI-FI was fine as you have to go to commons room to get wi-fi. Both sets of camphosts were visible and available and helpful. 2 HUGE dog parks on main base and the Pet Brigade offers many services like kenneling or baths etc. We would come back here again vs McChord and just try to make reservations 6 months in advance!

The campground has been upgraded with full service as well as 50 amp (instead of 30amp) in the loop. They freshened up grounds. However we tried 3 times after it reopened going up/back/thru Washington and it appears that with the good price it has now become 'homestead haven' and we were not able to stay.

If only all the campgrounds could be run so well! Ricardo was host in North Loop and we got more info from him than the Navy Gateway Inns where you check in. The only caution!!!-The Inns where you make reservation and have to check in DO NOT understand RV's- be aware when pulling in to check in/park...first time there and after the fact they tell me I could have pulled around corner by ball fields to park and then walk back to register. When we found building we pulled over off road and had to disconnect there. SO ask many questions when making reservation. After that enjoy!!! Clean/scenic/quiet campground just noisy jets/wonderful hosts who were always working or cleaning/spacious flat sites but don't expect to get TV or WI-FI (unless camp has gotten connected) or phone signals. Would definitely enjoy another visit!

We could only stay for two nights because BIG summer camp program for disadvantaged kids....however we drove thru a few days later and there were spaces available-so what can you say. As the picture shows a plain, no frills rv park except there is cable. Beautiful views and mostly quiet EXCEPT if you have a dog that is afraid of gunshot/fireworks sounds this is not the place for you. Firing range is right behind the berm behind RV's !! The shower rooms are separate from restroom and not that clean-wear shower shoes!! Tent spaces with covered picnic area and space to walk and enjoy scenery. Didn't see elk but saw much other wildlife! Right between Seaside and Astoria/Warrenton with shopping in both places(exchange is barely a mini-mart). The gate guards are VERY personable and helpful! Would go back and if no space as we had to leave go to Kampers West Kampground in Warrenton and ask for the military discount!!!

Fallon may be out there but alot on a little base-movie theater across the street..bowling lanes down the street with very nice community center and book exchange. We have been there when quiet(no squadrons)and enjoy the 'flight practice maneuvers' and very pleasant experience to eat at chow hall. New machines in laundry room so not free any more and the machines aren't upgraded either. Like the concrete pads and rock but be aware every dog has issues walking on the hard rock. Always a good stop going to/from California.

Since our last visit in 2006/7 the 'new' camp hostess Bonnie is great-she is hard worker (always watering grounds and collects recycling to sell for famcamp improvements). It is quiet (didn't see any rattlesnakes this time) and the concrete pads for new heavy duty picnic tables are great! Diesel on base and ample facilities so you don't feel 'out there'-cuz not much unless you drive to Yuba City. One of best campgrounds for your campsite SPACE. Used chow hall on Sundays and it is supposed to open all time again for retirees in October. Enjoy lake view!

It is still a good value for California and location (visiting family in bay area and Stockton!!). The main office took the cell phone away from camp host so don't be surprised if you don't get a response from office. The restrooms are old but clean and new washing machines. If there in summer the pool is right next door! Just be aware you will smell the dog food processing plant always and hear the trains always!! No wi-fi but Verizon mi-fi works well. And Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory and Ice-Cream Outlet down the street gives a 15% military discount!!

We had a wonderful visit except the bathrooms are not that clean at all! - the cleaning lady spends more time on phone or walking thru the laundry room than cleaning. We watched a coffee stain for three weeks than when told she cleaned half and didn't move the bench to finish. (soap scum on tile/chrome and watch her use a water spray bottle to clean the toilets). There was also two dogs in camp being "trained" with shock collars so the dogs thought every other dog was 'shocking' them- they went after our dog and attacked another dog. All the manager did was move them to other side and every other dog was afraid of them. So watch out for two huskies next winter!! Otherwise great campground/recycling available and facilities on base and sight-seeing stuff and programs available.

Both camp host couples were super-Bob & Snookie and Gary & Shari. Very informative and helpful. If you don't know area you better pay attention when they tell you the about "bad weather directions" from the command-cuz hailstorms can happen quick! So many attractions accessible from base (or using outdoor rec tours). New pull-thrus being built but not as spacious as 'original' campground! Dining hall available to retirees. Wi-fi isn't that great but verizon works very well. Gate by famcamp is closed on weekends but you can use main gate- ignore sign at front gate that tells RV's to turn around. Thx-would return.

Still a good value for area & base amenities. We were there during/after much flooding on base and nice to park on concrete. Thx to earlier review we monitored the electric and no problems. It was very quiet and office gave good info for base facilities. We did see management drive thru 1-2 daily and of course close to MP's. On weekends it is longer drive around due to gate closure. Clean laundry room. Would come back.

Enjoyed our partial hook-up site as previous review says-flat black top in the trees. Lots of dog walking area and recycling at campground (more on base). No diesel on base and can't use chow hall however lots of shopping on the base! Accessible to Ft. Lewis and Mt. Rainer and sites in Tacoma and not that far to Seattle. Verizon Internet was fine and I hear those with satellite often park in the dry-camp area so receive reception. If you chose to tent camp the restrooms are a distance though! Will definitely return to further investigate the area!

Enjoyed our visit and would return. 50 amp is thru-out the park and we stayed on older side and liked the trees better. The is plenty of dog walking area and paths. Recycling is at the RV park, no diesel on base -but available right down the road from front gate and unfortunately retirees aren't permitted to eat at the dining hall. Only two washers and two dryers so you might have to wait...
Hard-working hosts this summer. p.s City Auto Body shop down the road is super place for service if you need body work repairs on your RV!!!! ask for Brent

Enjoyed our visit and would return! Bruce is everything the reviews say..he and his wife planted flowers and took care of on their own! There is can recycling at campground and more recycling on base. No diesel on base. Retirees can eat at the dining hall for breakfast and on weekends meals-a definite plus. Campsites off base are mostly level and paved and room out the front door. Horses and donkey to view and talk to and plenty of area to walk dog. My Verizon Internet card was much faster then camp wi-fi.
