My daughters (8 & 11) and I tent camped here. Camp ground was lightly populated (guessing less than 50% of RV spots were occupied - total of three tents up including ours). Bathroom and laundry facilities very good/clean. Excellent trail, dirt road, and biking/walking paths on base for kids. Not much just outside the E/W gates. The air museum is great.

Called, spur of the moment, and obtained a hotel room about three days before our Saturday night stay. We (M,D,7 & 4 yr old girls) went to the Billy Bowlegs Festival in Ft Walton then a sunset cruise from a Captained boat from the complex marina. The following morning we used the hotel pool which didn't open until an hour later than the posted time?? and then drove to Eglin's beach just to the west. Room was... well...dingy. The staff was helpful and the Boat Captain was great. Even more important he knew the waters, knew what he was doing and knew where to see the dolphins. Not sure what the story was with the pool. Eglin's beach required military ID and a dollar or two. A brand new complex is in place with indoor showers and hot water. Bring your own food/cooler as there is no permanent vendor there. The water was warm and green.

I took my 7 and 4 year old daughters here and stayed in a tent. The beach was great though the weather was rainy and windy. We saw the Blue Angels practice on Tuesday morning (bring a chair they draw a crowd) and visited the Air Museum. Bathroom and laundry facility were spotless. Check in and out was smooth. We would certainly return for these reasons and for all the other activities and amenities described in the posts below!
