September 14th- September 28th 2010
We arrived here September the 14th and will leave here the 28th September. This is a great place, the best military Camp we have ever stayed at. The sites are well kept and there are a picnic table and grill at each site and lots of pine trees. We have been to the commissary which is ok and the BX is on the small side. Everything is a short distance from here to downtown Colorado Springs. The woman at the office was really helpful about where we could go that wasn't too touristy . We drove to the Garden of the gods [free - just bypass the Visitor center as it's all about getting you to buy stuff] and the drive through there is just so wonderful whew. Take time to drive over to Peterson AFB , they have a bigger commissary and BX. Nice coming back here in the late afternoon to our quiet peaceful camp. Yes the trains go through but the sound isn't enough to keep you awake.

This has to be the greatest RV facility we have been to in a long while. The place is quiet, clean and hosts are really friendly and helpful. The base itself is really good, nice size Bx and Commissary and easy to get around. Today we are going to look at houses as we think this area might be a great place to move to.

This campground is way off the beaten track from the Navy base. Grocery store nearby is ok. Parked in the old camp where you have electric and water but sites are a bit narrow. Says you are on the beach but had trouble envisioning what they meant with the small strip of sand on the bay [not the ocean like we thought]so we were disappointed. Registering - guy was in a hurry to go someplace I guess because he was very rude. We left there and drove on to Gulf Shore Alabama and staid at the State Park there for $21 a night - far better deal and 1 mile from the white sands and beautiful shore.
