Rhonda in the office was very helpful in getting info for us to visit lighthouses in the area. The campground was very clean. New buildings being built, but it was the weekend so it was very quiet. Retirees could eat at the dining facility. We almost didn't get back on base because my husband did not have base motorcycle driving course. So we left earlier than planned. We had planned on riding the Outer Banks, Kitty Hawk, etc, but was told to load our motorcycle back on our toy hauler.

30 minutes from Charleston. We did not use any of the facilities but I did check them out and they were very clean. Plenty spaces available. This time of year I thought it would be more crowded. Doc, the camp host was friendly and checked us in, even though I woke him up from his nap. Sorry Doc. Loved the cement pads. Our camper stayed clean and level. Plenty of sidewalks to walk. If ever in the area we would stay again.

If WiFi worked I would have given the place all 5 stars. The last time we stayed here we were dissapointed but not this time. New Camphost who were great and the dining facility has opened to Retirees. We did not have a full hook up site, but that is OK. We have a blueboy, and the campground also have them for campers to use. We were lucky, staying over the holidays, so the firing range was quiet. Famcamp employees, host and security all very friendly. Great place to stay at a great price.

We were here a week and loved it so much decided to stay another 3 weeks. This is the off season for this recreational facility so stay limit of 21 days does not apply. Pay for 2 days and 3rd day is free. We are in the new section and have it all to ourselves. Very quiet and dark at night. They have a very strict pet policy (which is good). Other campgrounds I have complained because dogs have been left in the campers all day, alone and barking. Not here. In fact they have a section where no dogs are allowed, also no dogs on post.If you have a dog it is limited to the campground and cannot be left alone. There is no commissary, but they have a consolidated dinning facility that is so reasonable ($4.75) we eat there more times a week than I cook. There is also a restaurant beside the campground office which is open several times during the week. Nice roads for walking and a small gym. Laundry room was not very clean. Camp Blanding is in the middle of nowhere but we have found many places to ride our motorcycle, flea markets, St. Augustine, Jacksonville, the Ocala Forest, Orange Park, the dog track. And a great little seafood restaurant outside the gate to the left. We will stay here again.

I'm glad the commissary was closed since we had to pick up the key at ITT. We could not have parked our 40' 5th wheel if the parking lot had been full. They need a different way of checking in and someone to police the area or make rules for pets. The camper 3 sites from us had dogs left alone without air conditioning or windows opened and barked the whole time we were there. We were planning on staying two weeks but left because we could not ride our motorcycle on base unless we took their safety course. It would take months to get a slot for the course. I didn't understand why we couldn't get a temporary pass for the two weeks, but this is something I need to take up with the Commander. I just mention it here so others will not be surprised when they can't ride a motorcycle on the base. The campground was clean and so were the bathrooms and laundry. But because of the motorcycle problem and management of the campgrounds we will not stay here again.

What a gem. Across the street from the ocean, and the bay right on the base. Gene did everything he could to keep us from moving, but we did not have reservations so we had to move once while we were there. I would have given all 5 stars but the laundry area was not clean and some of the facilities were not offered in the winter months, like the gym. We will stay at this facility again when in the area.

Not very 5th wheel friendly, but was told that when we made reservations. Any site would be hard to get into, but with a good driver like my husband it can be done. It is close to I95, has a great base exchange. We heard some BOOM's,and saw a lot of FBI students running. I think the price is steep for no more than you get. If you fish you have to have VA license and base permit. It's a shame retirees have to pay for license in every state they go in. I was also annoyed by the dogs barking, not being on a leash, and people not picking up after their pets. However, people using this campground seem to be of the younger generation, not the usual considerate retirees I am used to camping around. Maybe I was just there on a bad weekend. If in the area we might give this campground another try but I would not go out of my way again to stay here.

This is our second time at Coon's Creek and we are a little dissapointed this year. The laundry area and showers were pretty dirty the 2 months we have been here. Also there seemed to be more washers out of order than were working. Too many people had to wait for washing machines. Speeding needs controlled before someone gets hurt and rules need to be enforced on dogs barking. Otherwise our stay has been pleasant. We were on a rotating basis since we don't pay a year in advance to reserve a site. In 2 months we moved 5 times, so I'm not sure how the rotation works. However the staff does try and get you out of dry docking as soon as they can. $10.00 for no hookups is high to me. Being in FL on the bay must be the reason. There are activities every day and planned trips weekly. The commissary and fitness center are the best and biggest I have seen. The retirees center was most helpful and the Pharmacy went out of their way to help with our medications. Sunsets at the campground are spectacular.

Wonderful, clean campground. I agree with Proxy, (whom I wished I had met because I always read their reviews) about the gravel making noise. We were here for the pig roast which was great. Washers and dryers are free and area is spotless. Bathrooms are always spotless. Campground has a few things going on during the week, ice cream night and pizza night. Check-in was easy and Charlie was very pleasant. Several places on base for my husband to fish and alot of walking and biking trails for me. Easy to find from I95. Recreation at the Big EZ is fantastic. Pool tables, air hockey tables, free movies, etc. We will return if in the area. Will be here for Thanksgiving and I am sure the dinner will be just as good as the pig roast.

This was the highest price military campground we have stayed, but still a bargain because of location. For the price I think they need to add cable and WIFI. Campground is very clean and safe. We would not stay in the Virginia Beach area if it weren't for military campgrounds because of the crime rate. Retirees can eat at the mess hall for a small price. This is one thing we enjoy doing, especially on a retirees budget. Large NEX and Commissary with everything you need and more. A good place to stay to enjoy the area. I would not recommend if you do not like jet noise.

Spotless campground with great landscaping throughout the base. Very limited amenities but retirees can eat at mess hall which makes up for not having a commissary. We were on water site which was very windy this time of year. We hope to come back when the weather is better so we can take advantage of the fishing and beach area. Nice places to ride our motorcycle. Outerbanks and Elizabeth City area are great rides. Verizon wireless and phone work great. Great campground.

We picked waterfront site #1 which was waterview and next to the spotless bath house. We usually take our showers in our camper but since this bath house was so clean and the campground doesn't have sewer hookup we used the showers. The camp host was very helpful and even rode us around campground to pick out a site in her golfcart. We had great weather and got to ride our motorcycle to Charleston and several islands in the area. The lake was really low but the sunsets were beautiful. I highly recommend this Famcamp.

Great campground. Spacious sites. Doc and Laurie are great host. The campground honors the golden age passport, retirees can eat at the mess hall, and the laundry is free. You can't get any better on a retirees budget.

I was very dissapointed this time with the host, cleanliness, and dogs barking. I could have sworn we were at the dog pound. When we complained to the host they said they could not do anything about it. The bathrooms were nasty on the weekends. I love this CG because of location to the beach and the intercoastal. Hopefully our next stay will be more enjoyable.

CG was full but host went out of their way to make a spot for us behind bathrooms. New base housing has taken the overflow area. 3rd day a full hookup site became avalible but we chose to stay where we were and let someone else have it. CG is very clean and host very helpful. 5 to 10 minutes from beach, Keesler AFB, and casinos and a park in walking distance. Campground is very quiet at night except for the trains but you get use to them. We were very happy with our stay and will return if in the area. Verizon computer card and cell service great.
