Had planned to stay here for 4 nights. Rented one of the two bedroom mobile homes they have on site. Ended up staying one VERY LONG night then leaving as soon as it was daylight. Mobile home was filthy and infested with roaches and ants. The a/c unit looks like it came from an industrial plant-huge and loud. When it kicks on the mobile home literally moves...did I mention LOUDLY? It did keep the place cool though...the bugs looked comfy. Campground itself needs a great deal of cleanup. Overgrown is an understatement. Weeds are knee-high. Main area of camp appears to have been an old airfield. Now is just a cement, weedy, huge parking lot. The beach had potential-until we realized the sand was covered in ants. Have been to a lot of beaches in Florida but never had to leave because of ants on the sand! Same thing in the playground-structures were ant covered. We are not picky people...first time we ever left a place early due to poor conditions. This park is not worth your time or your money.

Stayed for a week in blistering heat and humidity. Very nice park. I am not sure why previous reviews are so critical about homesteading at this place. We saw no evidence of it. The camp hosts were pleasant and helpful. There were several open spots every day we were there. Everyone had their air cranked up high but power was more than adequate. Nice plus with the cable TV. Keesler is a short drive away. Has essentially been rebuilt since Katrina. Very nice PX. Took out 17 year old son with us. Plenty for him to do on base: beautiful pools, great marina with rentals, amazing gyms better than most YMCAs, and an incredible Teen/Youth Center. Could not say enough about this facility and the folks that work there. My son loved it and it hard to find things he even likes, much less loves. Place has a full gym, every video game, cool field trips, and even serves hot food for the kids. Most kids there lived on base but welcomed my son like they had known him for years. Highly recommend this RV park!!!!

Stayed here for one night on our way to Mississippi. Loved it!!! Large spots, absolutely spotless restrooms and showers, VERY nice staff. It was over 100 degrees in the shade and we had no problems with our electrical hookup...a/c ran fine. Lots of nice shade. Lake is small and open to the public so there were quite a few fishermen. Very quiet park. It seemed like it took forever to find it once we exited the highway but directions were well stated. Would hate to drive there in the dark though! Would definitely stay there again.

Stayed in cabin #2 (Old Speck) last spring. Had a fantastic time! The cabin was very clean, right on the lake, in the woods and nice & quiet. There is no TV reception but there is a VCR. Lots of board games...great family bonding time. Lodge is great. WIFI, toys for little ones, lake rentals, etc. Little beach area for those willing to get in the chilly water. Hosts are amazing. We had a cookout at our cabin & forgot steak sauce. The hosts gave us theirs when we found there was none in the little camp store! Could not say enough about this place. It is your own hideaway in the Maine woods. Would pay top dollar for a place like this in the civilian sector. The military is fortunate to have such a wonderful place for its' warriors to enjoy. Be sure & stop on the way in at a store in Bangor because there is extremely limited grocery selection nearby. It is a good 45 minute drive to nearest store. There is a good roadside small restaurant right before the camp turnoff though. Make sure you day trip to Acadia National Park! It is an easy drive and well worth it.

We just returned from a week in a cabin at Mid-Bay Shores. We loved it! The cabin was spotless, roomy, quiet & right on the water. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook basic meals when we didn't go to one of the countless restaurants within 5 miles of the camp. Cottages are on one side of the camp and camp sites are on the other. Beautiful spot on the bay but I would not swim in it, especially since the beautiful beaches of Destin are minutes away. There are alligators in the bay so beware. The camp has a great fishing dock and fish cleaning station with a roof to protect you from the weather. We fished everyday and caught fish and blue crabs right from the dock. There is also a boat launch right there that goes directly to the bay. The camp has some paddle boats and canoes that were very dirty and looked like they haven't been used for a while. Our only complaint was with the areas of the property that were off to the side and looked very unkept. There is an abandoned old FEMA trailer smack dab in the middle of the path to the beach. Needs to be moved and the back areas need to have the junk removed. Other than that, this is a great park. Nice, new play structure for the kids but not much else for little ones. Good WIFI but hours you can use the cabin that has the connection are very limited. You will need to clean the cabin before checkout but all the cleaning supplies are provided.
