July 2010
My family and I absolutely LOVE the Panama City Beach Area and spend as much time as possible down there. The Panama City CSS Family Campground and Marina is one of the best places to camp. It is located just minutes from one of the most beautiful state parks in the world (St. Andrews State Park). We have camped at both the on post and off post campsites and now request the off post campsites because of the dog park, the larger lots, and the washer and driers. The off post campground needs some more shade trees around the sites, but besides that, we LOVE it there. There are walking trails that lead directly down to St. Andrews Bay. The off post campground is just down the road from several large supermarkets, stores, and restaurants. They have a nice pavilion to BBQ near and there is exercise equipment. My family and I spent the entire month of July there and cannot wait to go back.

My family and I have stayed at many military campgrounds and I would def. have to say that Pelican Roost was the best!!! The Roost really made all of the difference. The only thing that I can think of that would make the campground better would be a fenced in dog park, that way the dogs could come off the leash and just run. My family and I can't wait to come back!! The thing that made the experience so much better for us was the great people that were camping there because they were all so friendly and outgoing and the camp host was very nice. The location of the campground can't be beat!!! And there are TONS of things to do near the Base, not to mention St. Augustine is just a short drive away. I Love Pelican Roost!!! Oh and more cable stations would be a nice thing to have.
March 2009- Spring Break
Sites are very close together, and you have to park your truck across the street in the parking lot. Make sure to bring extra long hoses for sewage, and cable for the tv. It is a nice place, just very hard to get a travel traler in the spot. Tight spots, but nice place.

VERY small sites and sites are VERY close together!!!! Destin is located in a wonderful place and the staff was very nice, however, the spots are very close together!!!! The spots are very tight and crammed together. There is just enough room to park a camper/RV and a single car- there is no room for anything else. You have to have skill to back into (they are all back in, no pull-throughs). I can not express enough how tight the spots are!!!! It is a nightmare if there is a car parked across the street from your spot, because then you have to also try to avoid hitting the parked car. The location is amazing but I wasn't impressed with how tight everything was. The toll at the bridge is a bummer too. The sites are by far the smallest that I have ever rented, and I have camped all over the place.

This is by far my families favorite military camp! It is located in a beautiful wooded area, with nice play grounds, views of an amazing river, a swimming pool, and huge camping lots. I was very impressed and can't wait to come back and camp here!!! This place is great!! It's a drive to get to main post, but it's not too bad. It's worth the drive.

There are a lot of people that live at the campgrounds, so it's more like a community there. The people that I met were very nice and I look forward to staying there again. The campsites are tiny and out in the open but trees have been planted, so someday, it will be shaded. The commissary, shoppette, and bx are located a few minutes away, so that makes it very nice. There is a nice lake and a play ground. The bathrooms are smelly, but I didn't have to use them (thank goodness) because we have a bathroom in our camper. But, I wouldn't be happy if I was camping in a tent and had to use them. We got a few channels, the basic ones, so that was nice. The Montgomery zoo is very close by and that is an amazing zoo- that' actually what brought us to Montgomery, and we will be back. The library on base was small but the people that worked at the library were so friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed our stay at the Fam camp and will stay there again!
June 2008- July 2008, and then a weekend in Nov. 2
The cost of the campground is okay, it would be much better if there was sewer hook up. The camp boss and his wife are amazing, and made the stay much more pleasurable!! The bathrooms were very clean and the camp boss and his wife made sure it was not just cleaned, but properly sanitized, I was impressed. The dirt/gravel road is a nightmare if you like a clean car. The campground is a bit confusing to find, and unless you know it area, it's very hard to find the commissary and px- the campground is located on a very beautiful lake with a beach/water park close by. My children loved the beach, but you have to drive to the beach. The water around the campground is off limits. The rustic spots are priced just right, but the new spots are priced far to high, esp. compared to other campgrounds around, Fort Benning has amazing sites, with cable, phone, water, sewage, and a swimming pool, for the same price as only water and elec. at Lake Tholocco- something doesn't seem right about that. The price needs to be adjusted! There are a ton of pilots that live there, so they take up the rustic spots, which means you are most likely going to have to go to the "modern" site and pay a lot more for a cement pad.

We never actually camped at this park but we spent many hours playing at the playground that is located near the camp ground. We always said that we would never camp at this camp ground because of the cost of the park, the location of the park and the fact that there is no cell phone/ internet reception. The park is way too expensive for what is located at the campgrounds- too expensive and not much to do. It is a good distance to the commissary and post exchange. The px is the largest in the world, so that's a bonus. Hopefully they will either lower the prices or add to the camping experience. Way too expensive!!!!!
