We stopped here again to visit family. We really like this RV Park and hope they never raise the prices as other Navy campgrounds have done in the San Diego area. The current rate of $30 a night is already at the high end for a MWR benefit. This time, we met with David, a camp host. He was very friendly and helpful. The grounds are always in excellent condition, except watch out for the ants, rabbits, and squirrels. If you're not careful, you can have some minor problems. There's no commissary or exchange (except for shoppette). However, I did get a $7.50 haircut and used the free laundry (very clean) at the RV Park. At least that's a few benefits that are still reasonable. We'll probably be back again next winter.

Stopped by for the day to evaluate the campground. The campground is currently undergoing an upgrade. Only 20 RV sites are currently available, with another 20 being installed. It appeared most of the renovation was complete, with some final details and landscaping to be completed. They hope to have the entire FamCamp open by April 1st, 2012. I did see a couple vacant RV sites. Clean laundry room. Outdoor recreation staff was very helpful and friendly.

Our third visit here. The location is great for us, as it's near relatives. We took advantage of the free admission to Knotts Berry Farm for veterans. Although we wish the daily rates were a little lower, we like this RV Park. We also took advantage of the free laundry. Tried the free WiFi, which wasn't any faster than my satellite Internet. But it's nice they now have free WiFi available. The gate guards even gave me DOD vehicle decals. Camp Pendleton wouldn't give them to us, as we're Texas residents and not stationed there. Office staff and camp host were friendly. We'll be back!

Upon arrival, Andy the camp host, was busy weed-eating weeds. It looked like a losing battle. We had just pulled into our site when he drive up to greet us. Very nice and dedicated camp host. It appears MWR is providing more support than they did years ago, but still need to put more attention into the FamCamp. Wouldn't it be nice if even 75% if the revenue generated by the FamCamp is put back into the campgrounds? Besides the weeds, the FamCamp is a nice pace to relax and spend some time if in t he area. Large BX and Commissary across the street. The nightly rate and rotation policy is VERY fair. There were about a dozen sites available when we arrived, with 6 of them getting filled by evening. We'll always stay here when in the area.

Found this RV Park to be another hidden gem for a short stay! Very friendly staff and the rates are perfect. A good place to stop for a few days if in the area. Few amenities and not much on the National Guard base, although the installation is in great shape. No problems getting my 40' MH and towed Jeep through the main entrance gate, but had to be VERY careful. At first, I went to the truck gate, which was closed. There is a phone to the security desk. Although they would have come open the truck gate for me, they said semi trucks go through the main gate. So I gave it a try. My 40' also fit in the RV sites. The 7 RV sites were full one night. Aircraft noise was very minimal.

Stopped by to check this place out, as we didn't have much information for it. This location is currently under renovation. They've added a few new cabins and are rebuilding the main structure (store, marina, etc). Looks like this would be a nice place for many water activities and fishing. There is a nice Idaho Power campground next door.

Heard this campground may be in operation after years of being told there was no campground here. We stopped by to verify and found the campground. We spent the night. This is a no frills place to park your RV with full hook-ups. Not located in the best location for touring New Orleans, but is a very reasonably priced option. RV Park is almost filled with long-term residents working and assigned to the base. However, there were a few empty sites available. MWR states any authorized military can use the park, but it's best to call for availability.

Spent a night here to check out the area. Nice RV Park. We got lucky, as we didn't have a reservation and there were a few sites still available. The entrance road is narrow and has low trees - be careful. The RV Park isn't behind any security gates, so there's no hassles and less security. Biggest downside here is no Internet access.

Stopped by to check out the new RV Park. Very nice facilities. Office staff was very friendly and helpful. Park seemed full, which is normal for this time of the year. All is nice and new.

As previously mentioned, pay attention to getting your RV checked at the north gate. It's easy to do. We stayed in a new pull-thru site. This section is MUCH nicer than the older section. LOTS more room. This RV park was much nicer and larger than I expected. Don't know why I had lower expectations. We enjoyed our short visit. Office staff was very friendly and helpful.

Stopped by for a night and was lucky to get one of two remaining sites. The other site was rented shortly later. Nice RV Park with clean and modern facilities. Camp hosts Barb and Ynes go WAY beyond their duties and work very hard for only a couple dollars a day. It was a pleasure meeting them. Office staff was also real nice. Expansion of the park is making progress and will double the number of available sites. Well needed! Other than being near a noisy freeway, this is a top notch military facility with fair pricing. Wish ALL military campgrounds and RV Parks followed this pricing practice.

Another nice, quiet campground with very friendly staff. Facilities were clean and modern. WiFi was quick, and FREE! The AFB has everything you would want. The FamCamp is located on the quiet, wooded side of the base away from all the activities. It's been 5 years since we were last here and the improvements really brought the campground up in condition and ratings. Will always stay here when in the area. To be fair to all wanting to use this RECREATION facility, they need to start enforcing their "30 day stay limit" during busy seasons.

Arrived without reservations and they only had 1 site left for the few days we wanted to stay - a "Premium" waterfront site. Enjoyed our stay while we visited with friends and the other military campgrounds in the area. A tad overpriced, considering wifi isn't included (and is expensive).

We stopped here for a couple nights to let a small snow storm pass by. This is a pretty nice recreation area. I can see it being popular when the weather is better. Actually, we would love to spend a week or two here with nice weather. Sites are large and spaced apart. Staff was friendly. We almost forgot we were at a military campground. Too bad they are expensive for WiFi.

Arrived without reservations and were placed on partial hookup. After 1 night, we were assigned a FHU site. We only stayed a week. This is a busy campground. We attended a Christmas dinner, but it was standing room only. We paid our $5 for the meal and took it home.
