T.L. left this review using the Directory software: Sites are dirt, some are pullthru, almost level. Roads in camping areas are mostly dirt good to fair condition. Other roads are paved in good condition. At site 3H I had to use my 50 amp pigtail adapter because the 30 amp receptacle was installed upside down. 4 June 092 of 2 people found the following review helpful
The Park is NOT BIG RIG FRIENDLY!! with far too many trees to be able to park with the exception of a select few sites. The park worker (a black lady with MWR on her shirt,) told us to go and pick a place on Trout road. It was a small cramped place that had several open places ALL too small for a 36' big rig. The turn around wasn't big enough to turn around. I had to unhook and maneuver the rig so I could get out. I went to area 2 and selected a place, also very hard to get in. I went to pay and the MWR worker said that place was taken. I asked how could it be take and she said someone came in a few days before and paid for it. There was no notice on the site. The lady was very unprofessional and not "user friendly" with a bad attitude. They don't take reservations but there were many sites that were empty with reservation slips on the sites. Never again!! We called and spoke with Ruth and she said they were full with the exception of a few sites with only electricity. She said that they do not take reservations that it was first come first served at all times. We were willing to go for that, after all it was a holiday weekend starting. When we arrived, we were greeted by Ruth and Larry and they were very helpful. They both told us they would check and see if there was a possibility of a site with full hook-ups available. We waited a few minutes and Ruth came out with the "good news". She said they had checked and there was one empty site with full h/u. We were happy. We paid for 5 nights, she fixed us up with a little plastic bag to hang on the pole at our assigned sight. We drove to it and found there was one already hanging on the pole. We just got out to unhook the car so that we could back the MoHo in when Larry drove up and told us that he had made a mistake and that someone was already checked into the sight, their "reservation" had already began. Slip of the tongue I'm sure. So we drove back to the office to get changed to a partial hook-up site. Ruth said she was so sorry. I told her that I understand how difficult it is to keep up with so many reservations. Both she and Larry came back with "we don't accept reservations". I said maybe that was the wrong word. If you pay in advance and hang your little plastic bag with the paperwork inside on the pole the site is yours, but it's not a reservation. This is a wonderful facility, well maintained and comfortable. Our check in was exceptional, a lady named Ruth was more than helpful, we had never been to this campground before, and she made us feel very welcomed to be here. There are two areas that have full hookups area three is more rustic, while area two is pretty much like a commercial campground. Both areas are very nice, I would certainly return to this campground again. 24-27 Feb 090 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Over all great place. BUT!! The first impression is always the lasting one. When checking in the office upon arrival the women that greeted us in the office was less than helpful almost to the point of being rude. She seemed to have basically NO knowledge of whats going on in the CG. The reception was very COLD and inhospitable. Had thoughts of leaving. Glad we didn't!! After picking our site, met CG host (Doug) very upbeat, knowledgeable, friendly and apologetic for our reception. Ruth was great with all our questions. Larry, CG manager has great ideas for CG and with a bit of money can transform the CG into the Army's "PRIMER" CG. I agree with all the accolades posted before me. Great place, although the lake levels are down still due to the drought but fishing was still great!! Good cell reception, fifty cent laundry, free firewood stacked around central areas of sites (when available). Satellite reception great from our site, wi-fi only at office. Beautiful Log cabin rental too. Would return again and again. September 20080 of 0 people found the following review helpful
Posting this a little late, but we stayed at Pointes West in September 2008. The water was low, but it was still a beautiful place. The staff and hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We did have one issue after some heavy rain, we had an ant infestation looking for higher ground, but that could happen anywhere. One thing to watch out for are the skunks. In the evening, one wanted to join our camp, luckily he was easily scared off. We would stay there again without hesitation. Nov 20080 of 0 people found the following review helpful
H.W. left this review using the Directory software: Area 2 seems to be the best for rv's as it has great views of the lake. So, so friendly staff, but will answer questions if you have any. Fairly clean campground with a small gas station restaurant just outside the facility. Will possibly stay here again, but did enjoy the wildlife (saw a bald eagle swoop down and grab a fish in front of our site). August 25, 20080 of 0 people found the following review helpful
This park is one of the top five military FAMCAMPs for us. We stayed in a space that backed up to the lake providing terrific views of the wildlife and sunsets beyond belief. The location may be a bit of a downfall for those who "need" to be close to malls and stores, about 12 miles to the nearest big shopping center. We don't look for that sort of thing as a "need". We "need" solitude, wildlife, hiking, open skies, little freeway noise, strong 30 amp or better, good water. This campground has all those. WIFI is available at the lodge/office. Though it is about 10 miles away from the Interstate, it is worth the drive, just follow the directions listed here. Since our last visit (in March 08') a new all-in-one fuel station, store/restaurant just opened right at the last right turn into the rec area. July 080 of 0 people found the following review helpful
What a Jewel! Stayed 2 days. The staff was courteous and helpful. I stayed at campsite 2 and the view of the lake is special. Fire rings and B-BQ setups at every site. Lack of WiFi and cable stop this from being a total 5. No pull thrus all back ins. Ample personal space for each RV. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Resocal left this review using the Directory software: Have always stayed here enroute to somewhere. However, in area 2 some sites have poor electric service (ours did); sites farthest from transformers are the worst. We had 50A except one side had 23 volts, other side varied from 11-19 volts. |
