Hotter than the sun during the summer time; However the lack of people, excellent facilities, and outstanding staff make this a very worthwhile stay. I would stay there again in a heart beat!

One of the nicest parks we have stayed at, the only detractor was beyond their control, the weather (almost 65mph wind gusts). Loc: Across from the main base, near housing, not much around it. Clean/Hosp: Very friendly staff, grounds although gravel/dirt, very clean even with the wind. Amn/Fac: Nice walking trails, great dog play area and the base has full facilities along with a very nice all weather surface jogging trail. Value: A very good deal for a resort town, stayed at another civilian park with a group (a resort park) that was quite a bit more for not much more (a pool). We will stay here again.

We stayed here again for NASCAR weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and our experience was outstanding. We were assigned a great spot, the hosts were johnny on the spot for anything we needed (as usual) and the park was absolutely spotless. The only drawback is no cable TV, other than that, just a great place. One other thing, they won't take reservations more than 6 months out, but I found even when I call the exact day, they are nearly full up, mostly with snowbirds and homesteaders.

A really great place to stay while visiting Las Vegas. Full hookup, concrete padded sites with WIFI as well. Friendly, helpful staff that assist you in getting to and into your site. Nice dog park with thorn free grass and some shade for the pets. Site had picnic table but no fire ring, great biking around the area. Base has all services, nice commissary and BX. What the base doesn't have, Las Vegas does. Very good value for the price and we will stay here again if we get back to this area.

This campground is probably in my top 2 or 3 I've ever stayed at - military, state/national park, or private. It is very well maintained and well layed-out. The dog park is excellent! The restrooms and laundry rooms are spotless. Each restroom/laundry "cluster" building has a covered sitting area where you can wait for your laundry to get done if you want. Nellis is in the desert so there are few trees but I was actually pleasantly surprised that there were some trees, and many shrubs including gorgeous flowering Oleander. Like many KOAs, the staff leads you in to your site and will help you get situated if need be. They provide a very complete information package. The only downside, but its minor, is that the commissary and BX are across the main road - this is not an issue for travelers with transportation but could be a hassle for coach-only folks, like myself. But with a little planning you can easily avoid any impact - just do your shopping before setting up. WiFi was fine for us... probably depends on which site you get. Good Verizon signal. I don't care about cable, personally, as my TV antenna pulled in numerous channels. We skipped Vegas itself (I've taken enough gambles in my life) and visited the Hoover Dam instead. We were only there for a couple nights and would definitely stop there again if we're in the area.

We visited in a motorhome and the cost is now $20. When you enter on Range Road, make an immediate right into a short entrance road that will make a 180 degree turn to lead you to back to the Guard's Shack to show ID's. The staff was excellent and very organized, probably the best we've seen. We are on the outside of the wagon-wheel (#63) and the site is spacious. By luck, we are facing generally north which means; morning sun on the patio, and the patio is shaded by the rig from the HOT afternoon sun. We enjoyed biking the "Historic Railroad Trail" in Lake Mead NRA to Hoover Dam. We enjoyed the LV Strip one afternoon and the "free" self parking at many of the casinos (we used Treasure Island). Also the "Thunderbird Museum" is here on base. No cable, free wi-fi was weak and often dropped out. Verizon cell and data were good. We would return...

First the sites. Original plans for the circles where I am was for four rigs. They are putting eight on each circle. Because of this, some of us have our door opening right onto the road, so can't sit outside there. The others have doors opening toward the middle of the circle. Inside each circle there are four "patios" with a picnic table. So unless you are one of the rigs with a door opening into the circle, you don't have one. Outdoor cooking is to be in provided grills or your own. No provided grills in the circle and again, unless you are facing in, you don't have a place to have a grill, and no picnic table. If you are to share the picnic tables, then the other campers should be told that. In the circle I am in, one of the inward facing is a motor home with a bunch of junk piled against it and they have a small child and have rigged a swing from the tree next to the picnic table. Personal items were all over the picnic table and seats. Another table is also covered with personal items and bicycles leaning against it. I measured and I have 44 inches to the rig behind me and 74 inches to one in front. There is no place next to your rig to park so you have to park across the street which is not really a big problem. Most of the sites that are not on these circles are very large. There is at least 25 feet between them and they have nice concrete patios and grill. The showers and restrooms were very neat and clean. As stated before, they only had half walls between them and no place to hang clothes or towels except in the shower enclosure with you. The staff was very friendly and helpful and check in was very easy. There is a nice trail that goes around the park (about 3/4 mile) for walking or biking. It is a good place for short term in you are just passing through or sightseeing in the area. It is not that far from downtown Las Vegas, if you are into gaming and shows. It is about a 2 1/2 to 3 hours drive to Death Valley and about an hours to Hoover Dam. I feel the $18 a night is high for the tight circles and lack of the picnic tables and grills, but not that bad for the large sites. Because of weather concerns, I asked to extend my stay by a day and it was done. Again staff was friendly and helpful.

I think this place is wonderful. This time we stayed in new area. Easy to get to. People are very friendly and helpful. Everything worked very well. Place was very clean. Here are my complaints - which are not enormous. I do not like the showers. There is no dressing divider. Your clothes, toilet bag and towel are in the same area as you in the shower. Even though there is a wide dispersal shower head, you still get spray on your items. In addition, the stall divider does not go to the ceiling. Not quite comfortable looking at another person next to me. Would also like to see cable TV. We have satellite TV but do not get Las Vegas channels on it. Miss a lot of local information. Would suggest the base information channel be included when cable TV installed. I also think the 6 month stay could be revised but am resigned to it. Hedging here in case I want to stay 6 months.

The staff was very courteous and very helpful. Our space was excellent. Better than a lot of civilian parks we have stayed in for much more money, also one of the best FamCamps we've stayed in. We definitely stay again, when in the area. Would recommend Desert Eagle to all of our military family.

Great park. Stayed there several times. Do not like the 6 month stay since this system favors snowbirds and does not give the short stays a fair chance at one of the choice locations. This park is a full time snowbird paradise. Agree with another reviewer that they should revamp there system similar to Davis Monthan.

Excellent facility with absolutely the friendliest staff we've experienced. A little pricey compared to other DOD campgrounds but still a great price when compared to commercial campgrounds. Clean, spacious and well-maintained spots. Hot as all get out when we arrived (113 degrees) but obviously the fact that our AC wouldn't cool our RV was not the fault of the campground. Will stay here again but at another time other than August!

Great Staff, Lots of room. A bit overpriced considering there is no cable tv and weak internet reception in the park. Suggestions made to the manager include revamping this reservation occupancy policy to allow other than fulltime snow birds to occupy the park in the desirable winter months. No reason to not have a rotating system similar to Davis Monthan AFB AZ. As a minimum, leave half of them open to non winter homesteaders. Most positive not was the outstanding dental care my wife received at the base dental clinic. She arrived with pain in a tooth just filled at our home before departing. The staff saw her space available and tended to her needs by properly sealing the filled tooth and applying a fluoride treatment. We could not be more thankful to that group of professionals.

T.B. left this review using the Directory software: Overall a great facility with friendly staff & outstanding facilities. Not knowing about the "wagon wheel" site system I was assigned a site that was impossible to maneuver my travel trailer into, They were very gracious to move me to another site, but nothing like a "hassle" after a long drive & 90 degrees outside. Great facilities at Nellis.

We loved staying at Desert Eagle! We had to park in a site with partial h/u but that was not problem since the dump station was very close. We love the dog park or should I say our dogs loved it. Everyone was great and made for a fun stay. The Thunderbirds practicing and the flight schools training made us realize the even more every day. Love that sound! We definitely will stay again.

What a great Famcamp. Dee, Chris and Carter were all very helpful with our stay. Laundry and showers are very adequate and clean. Sites are large with concrete slabs and patios. The park is well kept. While there I had a plumbing problem. The office recommended Mike @ 702-401-4771. I called and he responded and repaired my problem promptly. Would use him again if needed. Will definitely stay here again. We stayed here in a motorhome. Happy Trails, Jim

We only stayed overnight but enjoyed it very much. The staff were friendly and very helpful. As a novice camper, I made the mistake of raising my tongue jack after I had lowered the rear trailer jacks. Needless to say, it broke. Steve Nelson helped me fix my tongue jack and provided some advice on replacing it in time for my early morning travel. As for the facilities, they were adequate and was located close to main post (bx, commissary)....we stayed at a space without a dump but everything else, to include the wi-fi, were working excellently. We would certainly stay here again.
