First the sites. Original plans for the circles where I am was for four rigs. They are putting eight on each circle. Because of this, some of us have our door opening right onto the road, so can't sit outside there. The others have doors opening toward the middle of the circle. Inside each circle there are four "patios" with a picnic table. So unless you are one of the rigs with a door opening into the circle, you don't have one. Outdoor cooking is to be in provided grills or your own. No provided grills in the circle and again, unless you are facing in, you don't have a place to have a grill, and no picnic table. If you are to share the picnic tables, then the other campers should be told that. In the circle I am in, one of the inward facing is a motor home with a bunch of junk piled against it and they have a small child and have rigged a swing from the tree next to the picnic table. Personal items were all over the picnic table and seats. Another table is also covered with personal items and bicycles leaning against it. I measured and I have 44 inches to the rig behind me and 74 inches to one in front. There is no place next to your rig to park so you have to park across the street which is not really a big problem. Most of the sites that are not on these circles are very large. There is at least 25 feet between them and they have nice concrete patios and grill. The showers and restrooms were very neat and clean. As stated before, they only had half walls between them and no place to hang clothes or towels except in the shower enclosure with you. The staff was very friendly and helpful and check in was very easy. There is a nice trail that goes around the park (about 3/4 mile) for walking or biking. It is a good place for short term in you are just passing through or sightseeing in the area. It is not that far from downtown Las Vegas, if you are into gaming and shows. It is about a 2 1/2 to 3 hours drive to Death Valley and about an hours to Hoover Dam. I feel the $18 a night is high for the tight circles and lack of the picnic tables and grills, but not that bad for the large sites. Because of weather concerns, I asked to extend my stay by a day and it was done. Again staff was friendly and helpful.

I think this place is wonderful. This time we stayed in new area. Easy to get to. People are very friendly and helpful. Everything worked very well. Place was very clean. Here are my complaints - which are not enormous. I do not like the showers. There is no dressing divider. Your clothes, toilet bag and towel are in the same area as you in the shower. Even though there is a wide dispersal shower head, you still get spray on your items. In addition, the stall divider does not go to the ceiling. Not quite comfortable looking at another person next to me. Would also like to see cable TV. We have satellite TV but do not get Las Vegas channels on it. Miss a lot of local information. Would suggest the base information channel be included when cable TV installed. I also think the 6 month stay could be revised but am resigned to it. Hedging here in case I want to stay 6 months.

The staff was very courteous and very helpful. Our space was excellent. Better than a lot of civilian parks we have stayed in for much more money, also one of the best FamCamps we've stayed in. We definitely stay again, when in the area. Would recommend Desert Eagle to all of our military family.

Great park. Stayed there several times. Do not like the 6 month stay since this system favors snowbirds and does not give the short stays a fair chance at one of the choice locations. This park is a full time snowbird paradise. Agree with another reviewer that they should revamp there system similar to Davis Monthan.

Excellent facility with absolutely the friendliest staff we've experienced. A little pricey compared to other DOD campgrounds but still a great price when compared to commercial campgrounds. Clean, spacious and well-maintained spots. Hot as all get out when we arrived (113 degrees) but obviously the fact that our AC wouldn't cool our RV was not the fault of the campground. Will stay here again but at another time other than August!

Great Staff, Lots of room. A bit overpriced considering there is no cable tv and weak internet reception in the park. Suggestions made to the manager include revamping this reservation occupancy policy to allow other than fulltime snow birds to occupy the park in the desirable winter months. No reason to not have a rotating system similar to Davis Monthan AFB AZ. As a minimum, leave half of them open to non winter homesteaders. Most positive not was the outstanding dental care my wife received at the base dental clinic. She arrived with pain in a tooth just filled at our home before departing. The staff saw her space available and tended to her needs by properly sealing the filled tooth and applying a fluoride treatment. We could not be more thankful to that group of professionals.

A.H. left this review using the Directory software: Plenty of room in this hot time of year (109 degrees) but plenty of 50 amp for air. The best famcamp I've been in.

Return visit and it was as excellent as our last. Staff extremely pleasant, especially Clarence, and very helpful. Remains #1 on our list. Only minor problem, the ants drove us nuts!
April 21 - 23, 2009
T.B. left this review using the Directory software: Overall a great facility with friendly staff & outstanding facilities. Not knowing about the "wagon wheel" site system I was assigned a site that was impossible to maneuver my travel trailer into, They were very gracious to move me to another site, but nothing like a "hassle" after a long drive & 90 degrees outside. Great facilities at Nellis.
