We stayed two weeks and the sites are beautiful with trees and lots of space between rigs. The staff is friendly and provided us with excellent service. This is the best FAMCAMP we have stayed at.
7 April- 22 April 2012
Didn't think we would enjoy camping in Las Vegas: nothing to do but go to casinos. Right? Wrong! Although these reviews are usually just for the RV Park, a lot has been said to make folks want to stay here. Rightly so since the amenities, staff, location adjacent to an excellent AF Base, and other items make this a choice place. The jets do fly low over the Park, but that is the sound of freedom. And many are Thunderbirds practicing, so you get quite an air show every day. Spaces are roomy, landscaping is terrific, the bath/laundry facilities are great, and the pace is just so clean! We haul around our recycling looking for a place to stow it: Desert Eagle has multiple recycling boxes for all commodities. The BX and Commissary are outstanding. Location is far from the tourist trap places. Although many here sit in their RVs all day, you can get to really great parks and such in a few minutes. Must see places include Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, and of course Hoover Dam. You can easily spend days on end at Red Rock and Valley of Fire: the Bighorn Sheep at VoF are only a few meters away at worst (makes for great photos) and one actually lets you touch it as it blocks the highway (he's like me...too old to breed, and senile). Come for the warmth and stay for the enjoyment. Get outta your RV and partake of the attractions. The staff treats you well and the price is great. They don't have cable but we get good antenna reception; they do provide wifi, but you spend a lot of time re-connecting the signal. We have good AT&T wireless service here. We came for a couple of days and stayed two weeks...only leaving to tour Death Valley. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Great place for overnight or longer stay; easy access to Fam Camp. Staff is outstanding; easy check-in, staff provides a very handy guest package for base and local information. A little airport noise but nothing that can't be handled. Rest rooms and laundry cleaned daily and in good condition. Will come back when in the area.

Our overall experience was great. The host was very helpful and the campgrounds were very well maintained. Lots of space between sites. For the price add cable or at least wifi and this place would be a 5 star place.

What a First Class RV CG by any standards. This is a very nice CG with a good layout, First Class landscaping and Super great Hosts. You can't do better than this.

Stayed only one night but will return. Truly the best military RV campground I have visited to date. Only drawback location is in the middle of an industrial part of the base. A bit of an eyesore. Staff is extremely friendly, helpful and polite. Bathrooms are super clean. It's just down the road from Las Vegas Speedway and of course the "strip". There are walking paths being installed. It's a great place for an early evening walk. We had no problems with water pressure. A PX Shopette with gas pumps is about half mile away. Base itself is awesome.
26/27 July 2011
Value is in the proximity to really what I'd call a "signature base" - but you do feel like you're socked away in an industrial park. We've been here before and it was packed; this trip, in the heat of summer, it was rather open! Campground staffer (manager? not sure) was an extremely polite fellow Texan. Female on phone who made reservations very polite as well. Main base itself is just plain awesome.

This a great park with excellent staff. Big sites, good wifi, high pressure water, stable electricity, it's all good. This is our first experience with a Fam Camp and any others will have a tough standard to meet. It was very hot during our stay so we didn't wander around outside much, but the location was great for getting to the strip in Vegas. We will come here again.

First time over-nighting in our new Class A with a toad. The staff was cordial and informative. When I told them I was new to the RV life, they jokingly (I think) assigned us to the "honeymoon suite" -- a pull thru site that was large enough for our 35 foot coach, the tow dolly, and our Honda Fit. In fact, one of the host staff led us in a golf cart to our spot. The weekend was relaxing and a great first experience. We will stop there again, on the way back from our trip to Seattle in July.

This family camp is run by the most friendly and helpful staff. I have just recently started R.V. travel and this is my first experience with a military camp,I just hope that the other family camps are run as well as Desert Eagle R.V. park is.The staff and condition of the park are a shining light for the base command, one he should be very proud. Thank-you again for making my first experience with family camp a great one. Carl Shepherd

We wish Nellis was closer to a city that had more to do than gamble. The staff was delightful and most helfpull. The facilities were very clean. The dog run was exceptional. The walking paths throughout the park were well maintained, as were the sites. There was a circle host for each of the various hubs of RV's, who showed genuine interest in helping but not interfering. Although across the highway from the main base, it was most enjoyable to watch the Thunderbirds practice, as well as the Australian AF planes. The Exchange and Commissary provided very adequate choices. Overall fantastic experience.

Everything is very nice at the park except the activities director at the park she is very mean and rude, surprising she is even a activity director. The rest of the staff is really nice and friendly and the park is very clean and quiet.

We really appreciated the very nice staff and volunteers who checked us in and helped us park. Everyone was exceptionally nice, helpful and accommodating. We had an unfortunate experience with the park manager. When we checked in we paid for six nights with our Visa card. We decided not to stay the entire time and informed the staff we were leaving early and wanted three days' fees refunded. The park manager said the fees were non-refundable. This non-refundable policy was not listed on the credit card receipt, or on the park receipt. When I informed him that he needed to make the refund because the so-called non-refundable policy was not properly disclosed, he then shifted to saying he would process the refund if there was some type of an emergency. I told him to call it an emergency and issue the refund. He then attempted to pry into the nature of the emergency. He finally agreed to issue the refund, but found himself far too busy to do so that afternoon. He asked me to return in the morning. I asked if we were going to go through the whole non-refundable scene again or if would simply process the refund when I returned in the morning. He assured me he would simply process the refund. Well, I returned in the morning and he started with the whole routine again. I asked him to simply process the refund. He stated refunds had so many steps and it would take such a long time to get all of the steps done. I asked him to start on step one. The refund was processed.

Have stayed here on several occasions but have not reviewed. I really like this place and the overall experience is great. Not a gambler but Vegas close and the park is what I feel all the parks should strive for. Just a great experience and if any negative is that they allow folks to stay 6 months at a time so could make for tough reservations. Got my space with 3 days notice. Was unable to get reservations several years back but NASCAR was in town and every spot was booked. Experience what military camp grounds should be like!
Dec 2010
first the negatives, nellis is split by las vegas blvd. each side has a security gate. you must go through security both ways which is a minor pain in the butt, made worse by the air forces use of rent a cops on their gates instead of airmen with real brains. thats it ! the plus side is too large to list everything. lets just say that this is one of the best military parks in the land. clean, well operated, really nice office staff that has twice now, gone out of their way to accommodate us, can you believe 50 feet between spaces ? holy moley !! i have read the last post and all i can say is criminy buddy, they have raised their rates to 22 bucks, damn ! a whole dollar and you now think it is not worth the money ? you need to take your 50 foot class a, the 35 foot trailer you tow behind it and go to a KOA. they will be glad to pack you in like a sardine and charge you 50 bucks a night for it. some folks would bitch if they got hung with a gold rope. great job dee
Dec. 2010
As of Jan. 1 they are raising the rent a dollar a day, and cutting the club card from 10% to 5%. Basically that's a 2 dollar raise a day. Its a good place, but getting way to expensive. Lots of people are saying they are not coming back next year.
November 2010
I had a similar problem with Dee. I called and made two reservations; one over Thanksgiving and one for over a month in February that extended into March. I told her I wanted a full hook up site for both reservations and was promised I would get one although I might have to move during the second stay due to being full for the NASCAR races going on. I was promised a e-mail confirmation that I never got. The address on file was wrong and I gave Dee my new address. When I arrived I was told there were no full hook up sites and when I asked about my reservation in February it was only for 7 nights even though the intake card had the extended stay days written on it. Additionally, Dee never changed my address information because when my receipt was printed it still had the old address information on it. Although the first visit was the middle of November, the welcome packet I received was full of October happenings. It appears they are too content with the money they are making to take care of the customers who provide for their jobs. I gave the Cleanliness/Hospitality a one for the simple reason for the way my reservations were mishandled. I talked to the individual who registered ahead of me and they had the same problems with their reservations - not getting what they were promised.
