Hi, Tomorrow is our last day as camp host for Port Hueneme, it has been fun and we have met alot of people. Now we start the 30 days at Mugu and 30 days back to Hueneme. We still have another year in the area. No conplaints 30 on the beach, 30 days on the golf course (as he says). The quilt of Valor is taken shape and as soon as I figure how I will post the squares. Ilene sent 4 and they are great. I fell in love with the one that has a pinwheel in the center made with praire points. I realized today that I posted the infor in the discussion above not the wall (still learning how this all works). For more info as contact me or Ilene. My email address is 2again@prodigy.net. Happy Sewing......Val

Thanks for the quick reply, Jim!
Sounds interesting. Of course, anything with quilting has my interest. We are in Key West for the winter. Our plans are to explore the east coast this spring and summer. Maybe I will be able to see some of the Quilt Barns if we go inland to see the mountains.
We have had similar problems with our 38 ft motorhome being too long.
I have started looking online. I was surprised at the return search results. There is a lot of info and I have never heard of this until today. I'll have to add this information to my next blog and see if any of my quilting friends have heard of the Quilt Barn Tours.
Gina has probably seen this blog on Quilt Barns, but just in case she has not seen it: http://americanquilttrail.blogspot.com

Today we put up the wall quilt completed to cover our trip in 2008 to Glacier National Park. Made it using digital pictures we took during the trip. Printed them on special material bought at a Jo Ann fabric. Put it on the one vacant wall in the spare room of the stick house.
Made a fall three dimensional table topper that was seen in a magazine. Fall leaves and acorns. Turned out pretty good for not having any pattern. Local Relay For Life asked for a T-Shirt quilt (past year t-shirts) which is now ready to be bound. Had to learn how to do the t-shirt material so it would not stretch.
It's exciting when a group gets together. You can send the squares to 5235 Mission Oaks Blvd 307, Camarillo, CA 93012. I will construct the top and quilt for deliver. Can someone make the pillow case for presentation? Let's complete it by November end?

Hi, I finally figured out how to get back here. We have been traveling quite a bit lately. A friend and I went to the quilt show in Sisters Oregon in July. Wow! What a lot of wonderful quilts.
Val Kinnan and I are working on a quilt of valor. I thought she had posted the information on this site in case someone else wants to join us. If your interested you can e-mail either of us My address is sewcomfy@sbcglobal.net

Here is an aesome idea for an inexpensive portable sewing table. You will probably have to cut and paste because I can't get the link to pop up.

If you find yourself in Forest City, Iowa (home of Winnebago), don't miss the Quilted Forest Quilt Shop. It is chock full of fabrics, notions, patterns, and completed projects for inspiration. The owner has a line of patterns called Pieced Tree Patterns, many of which are small projects. She has a line for "tiny" patterns, with each pattern printed on a card about 3/5 and laminated - $3 ea. Enjoy.

Hi Val. What kind of quilting are you doing these days. I am kind of on hold for now as my son just came home wounded.

Sorry I can't help with the fabric store. I do know a couple of good sites online if you need future stuff. www.5bucksayard.com is my favorite. www.fabricdepot.com is good for fat quarter deals.

Hello, I have belonged to Military Campgrounds for two years and just today discovered the quilting group. Can anyone tell me where to find the fabric store closest to King's Bay Georgia? We are here for two days out of a two-month cross country trip. I need to purchase fabric for binding for my granddaughter's college graduation quilt. Thank you.
