Hell-o everyone; I just joined the group today, although I’ve been coming to this website for some time. I was a U.S. Army Medic on active duty from July 1964 to October 1970. Lost my eyesight during the Vietnam War and was totally blind for about 5-years; went thru about a dozen surgeries and got my eyesight back. I am 100% service connected and currently living in Fairfield, CA. I joined the army at the age of 17 and took basic at Ft. Dix, NJ; originally I am from New York, and then I went to Ft. Sam Houston, TX for my medic training. As a medic I was stationed with a number of different units, artillery unit at Ft. Sill, 2nd Armored Div. at Ft. Hood, and one year in Darmstadt, Germany with an Evacuation Hospital. I was also stationed in Okinawa and the former Republic of South Vietnam (1967-68) with a transportation company. After the military I settled in Colorado for a few decades, got my masters and doctorate degrees and became a counselor. I have worked for the VA as a readjustment counselor and also was a college teacher for a while, but today I am retired and moved from Colorado to California to be closer to my 40-year old son, my only child, who is a lawyer in Los Angeles, but I prefer to live in Northern California. Because I live in California I can go RVing year round, which I definitely do, and who knows, we may get to meet each other at some military campground.

Just got back from Pelican Roost at Jacksonville, Florida. We spent a few days there and sit on the bay watching the ships come and go. Hosts were awesome and very friendly and helpful. The beach is just a short walk away and the facilities on this small base are very accomodating. The only downside was the gravel roads that were full of potholes. Thease, however, are going to be fixed. The entire road in the campground is being paved as I write this and the laundry is being expanded. Great place for retired and active military personnel.

Hello, My wife Sheila and I are brand new to RVing also. Retired in 2006 from Army Reserve after 35 years. Did a tour in Vietnam with 101st Abn in 68-69. Last tour was 2002-2006 as G3 of 100th Division in Louisville, Ky. Retired as 06 and loving it. Kind of apprehensive about this RV though. I have spent lots of time at Destin resort and plan on moving around south during winter. Have any of you been to Manatee Cove lately?

Hello everyone, not retired but spent 10 years in the Army. We're members of the VFW, American Legion and AmVets. We enjoy the freedoms that are given to us from everyone that has served and would like to get together with other like minded people and have great time. I (Rick) just joined the Air National Guard recently, yes that's right, enough roughing it in a tent, time for a roof over my head when deployed. Nothing worse than having snaps on your shelter half then your buddy has buttons.

We are the Jimersons and we've been full-timing since Nov 2007. I'm a USAF military brat and my husband is hospital retired and 100% disabled since Vietnam. He was a machine gunner with the B-2/501st Infantry (101st ABN Div)and was in Vietnam from mid Dec 67 to mid Mar 68. We stay mainly at military bases and enjoy the commaradarie of all the retired military folks.

I finally figured out the group join thing. On my computer, I had to hit Join, then when asked if I was sure, I clicked on the highlight just above the question, then hit tab. The "yes" "no" block came up. I was then able to select the "yes" and bingo was his name O.
